  1. Problem is that some CMSF1 campaigns may not play properly in CMSF2 and as I said, who wants to get halfway thru a campaign and find that out...?
  2. If you mean you installed a CM2 game, it's best to post your question on the General Discussion CM2 forum.
  3. Ah... Thanks. That answers the question. Am uninstalling CMSF1 on at least one of my systems - so, no reason to keep the CMSF1 QB maps. What about the old scenarios and campaigns? (Unfortunately, CMSF1 saved games will not run in CMSF2.)
  4. You mean the US "started taking action to force its allies to live up to their obligations". There is no evidence of actual unreliability on any side since NATO hasn't (AFAIK) been attacked yet..
  5. I know most user-made scenarios and campaign have not been updated, but good idea to rename them so no nasty surprises. Don't want to get halfway thru a CMSF1 campaign only to find it unplayable. The problem with QB maps is that all CMSF1 QB maps are named QB xxxx while the CMSF2 QB maps do not have that prefix and are names quite differently. So, no way of telling which are the unique user-made maps, which are new QB maps or which are duplicated from CMSF1.
  6. Exactly... doesn't matter who tries to impose order. IIRC Alexander butchered 90% of the men, and that didn't seem to work either.
  7. Are folks copying the CMSF1 QUICK BATTLE maps into CMSF2? Or are all the QB maps updated and duplicated in CMSF2? What about CMSF1 Scenarios and Campaigns? So many of them are user-made and am wondering if it's worth keeping em all, or if we should start fresh with only new stuff made specifically for CMSF2.
  8. Agreed - haven't been able to find any reference to any sort of protective cover for a mortar tube. You'd think it would be some sort of standard issue.
  9. Um... I think the Soviets were forced out. The Soviet-imposed govt was hated IIRC.
  10. Amazing. This looks like a similar herculean effort as LLF's Ramadi map. Have you considered using the angled road mod to avoid the jagged sawtooth road look?
  11. FWIW Bootie should now have all of your mods once he copies em from the HD I sent him.
  12. It's impressive how much one can achieve re visual improvements with NVidia controls alone.
  13. Well, CM1 featured assault boats for amphib landings and river crossings! So you can simply buy CM1 and all wishes are granted.
  14. Yup. HD mailed to Bootie today. Hope this will be helpful to everyone who likes to mod their games.
  15. FWIW while am traveling in UK have just mailed Bootie a HD with several hundred GB of mods that date back to when CMSF1 was released in 2007. So, at some point (Inshallah) all the old mods will be available again.
  16. IIRC it's to stop smoke from the barrel giving away the mortar's position. So may have been relatively close to enemy or in LOS.
  17. This is good news. But am puzzled. I thought that none of the older "uniform" mods from CMSF1 or CMA would work in CMSF2. Do mujahideen "uniforms" function in a different way?
  18. Another hint if you plan to add many mods is to start categorizing sub folders inside your main mod/Z folder: Eg Z TERRAIN; Z UI; Z SOUNDS; Z FX; Z UNIFORMS etc.
  19. This is a "commercial off the shelf" game. It features many abstractions like this in order to make it playable for an inexpensive price. For total accuracy you'll need to buy one of the DoD contractor simulations.
  20. Having one or two guys isolated is common when you have waypoints placed like you have. Non-precise placement of waypoints in situations like these confuses the AI pathing. Try putting waypoints exactly where the blasted hole will be, and all troops will act properly. One will see the same problem with widely spaced waypoints near impassible terrain that can only be crossed at certain points. In all these cases one has to order the main formation back to the stragglers and then make precise waypoints so they all move off together.
  21. I understand. Am simply saying that there would be many folks out there with an axe to grind to either rewrite history or correct it. And nothing has emerged. So all we know is what we know for a fact happened.
  22. B...b... but I thought this is the General Discussion Forum where all sorts of stupid things are discussed in the pursuit of fun. This is not an academic or serious military training site from National Defense University. So long as folks are enjoying themselves, isn't that the point?
