  1. LOL. Get used to it. BFC loves to make us suffer (they bond us through pain)...then one day when you least expect it they'll drop some info. Sometimes it's a complete surprise...they never even mentioned CMFI until about 6 weeks before release. Mord.
  2. If I'd been a Viet Cong the second I saw Napalm (or Puff the Magic Dragon for that matter) I would've defected and chu hoi-ed my pajama wearin' *** all the way to Idaho. Those dudes were some tough little scrappers with iron cojones. Mord.
  3. Hell no...THAT was the reason I spent two different holidays screaming into a microphone! I couldn't do the Germans but I sure did my best on the American voices in CMSF and BN. I HATE those rehashed US CMBO voices....I got to the point where if I heard another "did you see that?" or "MY ARM!" I was gonna hang myself. BTW I just looked at my CMBN mod...that sucker has been DLed 1254 times. I'm FAMOUS! EDITED: Ah you meant just the yells...well actually all the voices except for the Syrians (and anything in CMA) are rehashed CMX1 stuff. What makes the US so annoying is that they have been in BO, AK, SF, BN, FI, and BS. I actually did a death scream mod for CMSF. Mord.
  4. I can't speak for the demo 'cause it's been 8 years since I played it but I can tell you the full game comes in English, French, German and Spanish. There are also PDF manuals in all those languages that can be found in the main CMSF folder once the game is installed. EDITED: Look in your main CMSF folder (demo) and see if there are folders for French, German and Spanish. You'll find the scenarios in there. That is how the full game does it. Mord.
  5. Yep. After CMBN they changed where stuff was installed to. I can't remember why, though. I think it had something to do with the (at the time) up coming Win 8 OS and how it was gonna handle files. My CMBN stuff is in the exact same place so your install is fine. Mord.
  6. And there's just as many of us that disagree with you. The advances might not be as quick as I'd like but to deny they are there is preposterous and to label them minor little fixes/features is opinion. But saying the game has been at a stand still since 2007 is complete and utter crap—poop laden hyperbole for the sake of poop laden hyperbole. This is why, after dozens of your little snipes over the past six months or so, you end up with these types of replies. The pessimism and willful ignorance gets really old. Take your ideas and desires and try putting them in a more positive tone and drop the dramatics and you might get somewhere. In the end we all want the same thing but there are better ways to go about it—Greek tragedy seasoned with fallacy does not help further the discussion and never will. Mord.
  7. Here's some marrow... http://community.battlefront.com/topic/120077-need-pics-of-cmbo-scen-wiltz/ Mord.
  8. Actually it should start in October 'cause CMBN ends in September. But then again you are probably playing it so I could be wrong. Mord.
  9. We're six days shy of two months on "soon". Just skip the bone and give us a anniversary present. Mord.
  10. Hey brother, welcome to the first day of the rest of your wargaming life. You got here just in time. Mord.
  11. This is one Action Spot...Yeah, most likely a map won't look this stupid but it's to illustrate what's already been stated. 1. House 2. Cart 3. Firewood 4. Tall Yellow Grass 5. Stone wall 6. X3 Trees 7. Garden 8. Brush Every one of the things in the picture has an effect in the game, from cover to spotting to movement. This ain't CMX1 that's for sure. EDITED: Not to mention bleed over from one tile to the next. Mord.
  12. It's normal. Everyone has them loaded when they install. From what I remember it's fine to delete those folders. Mord.
  13. Who came first, More Chicken? Or More Eggs? Mord.
  14. I was surprised that I killed/wounded as many as I did...when I was playing I was like man, I really suck. And then I read the AAR and was like, cool, DC's made me sound halfway competent. Yeah, after seeing what he had left, getting off the bridge, as hellish as it was, would've been like jumping out of the frying pan and into a volcano. Apparently the fight to exit was just a warm-up. Mord.
  15. STAY AWAY FROM GREEN RUSSIANS! Regular or above only. Actually I wouldn't take anything below Veteran. I had the worst *** kicking I have ever had in CM experimenting with an all green force. I'd also stick with the latest model Bmps...the Bmp2 sucks when I use it. Mord.
  16. Yeah, from what little I remember about the actual battle the outcome felt fairly close to real life. As far as CMBN goes, if you take a couple pounds of hamburger and call it Germans, and then take an industrial fan turn it on high and call it the British, then start chucking the meat into the blades you'll get an idea what it felt like fighting this. I don't think the battle itself was as hard as the fight I had with the engine limitations when it comes to bridges. This being my first ever fight on a bridge I had no clue it would be as finicky and fiddly as it was. I had a helluva a time trying to keep my guys from bunching up because the action spots only allowed placement in the center right or center left lanes of the bridge. After I got used to that I figured maybe face commands would have guys move to the edges like they do in buildings or along walls but It just didn't seem like I could get that to happen. Ideally I wanted men on both sides of the bridge looking out over the town in over watch while I moved others forward. My smoke screen probably came too late to make a difference because I spent the first half of the crossing in dread that DC was gonna hammer me with mortars. I was loathe to move much up, especially my very finite mortar squads, before I knew what kind of hell march they were in for. He basically did the opposite of what I had expected, which was to make me pay for every step my guys took from either rifle fire and/or zeroed in mortars. No, the actual death-fest was waiting on the far side. And you'd be surprised with all that lead flying how very few spots I actually had. I was going crazy trying to figure out where all those broadside vehicle kills were coming from. My dudes had almost no sight to the left or right of the bridge even with their high vantage point. On my side of the river I had set a heavy overwatch on my left flank that consisted of a platoon of PZ Grens, a couple Panthers and a couple armored cars in case his plan was to wail me all the way across. Like wise, on the right I had about four pieces of armor and a couple of teams to cover the crossing from there. Not that I think it would've made a whole lot of difference to my outcome but it did tie up my assets and cost me precious time once I knew the bridge was safe. It took about six turns to get everything sorted out and heading across the river to support the slaughter I was enduring. He completely outsmarted me on the setup. It was a bit frustrating fighting the bridge mechanics but I did enjoy the challenge of trying to get my guys off the pavement and into the town. LOL At one point in the game I felt I'd have a personal victory if I could have one squad or vehicle down in the grass by the last turn. Great AAR DC, you have a flair for it. Only criticisms I have is 1.) You needed to lose. And 2.) More screen shots next time. You can never have too many screenies! Mord.
  17. That would work. I'll see if I can find it and post a link. The only thing I knew about is the tool that sbobovyc made but I doubt most people could grasp it. Mord.
  18. Really atmospheric, man. Nice job. It feels like France. Mord.
  19. His problem is he is on a Mac and can't explode BRZ files. I just tested it and your vehicles work fine. The infantry uniforms have to be renamed as well as adding patches to the Jr. and Sr. Officer's unis that didn't exist when you created the mod. @M Chicken. Here is a link to the 9th Cams that you can use, everything renamed. If you are using Aris Uk truck, Loyd, universal carrier, or Jeep mods either remove them or make sure you don't have the alternate decal folders in them. https://www.dropbox.com/s/iof6oa3pp2mf8zq/9th%20Cameronians.zip?dl=0 Let me know when you've DLed it so I can remove it from my dropbox. Mord.
  20. Did you read the readme for the portraits? In a nutshell I am guessing you didn't remove everything from the underscore back. For instance this file "portrait british infantry_ALT 15th Recce Regiment" should look like this before being put in your z folder "portrait british infantry" without the quotes. You can only have one type of each portrait in the game. DC's uniforms won't work without some renaming (or possibly at all) because he hex edited a lot of them to be more accurate. While he was creating them BFC completely reworked how uniforms were named and added Normal Maps with the 2.0 upgrade which made it so they no longer would function. Mord.
  21. Then it's the stinking AV. Do exactly what he said and you should be fine. I have gone through that same thing at least a dozen times over the years. Just makes sure you exclude for whatever kinda scans your Anti Virus does. I say that because Norton has two types of scans, but I don't know what other AVs do. Good luck and let us know if it works. Mord.
  22. You also might wanna read this. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1533&Itemid=378 If none of that applies it is most definitely as highlandcharge said. Especially if it's Norton AV. Mord.
