  1. You could just drop them in mod folder, or make another folder called "Horizons" inside the mod folder, or whatever you like. I keep stuff like terrain all in one folder, explosions/smoke/tracers in one folder, US stuff in one folder, German/Russian/British/Whatever in a folder—keeps it tidy and I know where each thing is if I want to switch them out. There's nothing to fear, the stuff you put in there will not permanently overwrite your game files (like in CMX1). The folder only works when you start CMFI. It loads the various modded bmps/wavs/whatever in there last, only temporarily overwriting original game files when you fire up the program. When you log out of CMFI it all goes back to normal. Once you remove a mod completely out of the user data folder the game just reverts back to reading the base game files. It's idiot proof. Which is a good thing because man, you could really screw up the look of your game modding the old CMs, if you weren't careful.
  2. Anytime, my friend. Nice to see you are still around. Mord.
  3. There's not. I wasn't paying attention to the explosives they were carrying (thought they had breach type charges), they blow holes in wire (just did it). Which is cool. All this time I have been playing CMX2 and it never even occurred to me to try it. Then again I have been out of the loop for the last two years and have forgotten some of the cool little details. Mord.
  4. What will engineers do? I just tested it and they didn't do anything. And as far as I can tell only tracked vehicles (makes sense) will run the wire over, so that's something to keep in mind. Mord.
  5. @HerrTom I took a bunch of explosion bmps and combined them as a test, the other day, just to see what they looked like. I added in 36 and as far as I could tell they all showed up. To really test it, make say 50 animations, and add a big neon green or purple opaque cloud at the end, something large enough to stand out (like BMP 026 recolored and renumbered would do). Set up an explosion and look for the color at the end. You can keep going until you find a limit, or are satisfied with the amount you need, just keep renaming the neo bmp as the last in the sequence. I like the color BTW. Keep a set like that before you throw too much yellow in. Mord.

  7. Here, this should cleanse your palate... A more vile creature doesn't exist. Hey, don't blame me, blame the title of the thread! Mord.
  8. @grunt_GI, It's at the Scenario Depot: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-shock-force-2/cm-shock-force/red-stream-120/ http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/ Mord.
  9. You most likely already have them. If not, check out MJ's stuff at CMMODS (you'll need to edit them). All I did was rename the uni and helmet files so he could use them as regular infantry, as in drop in folder, they show up. When that campaign was made we didn't have options for uniform selection in CM2 in the editor. If it was made today technically, you could have 82nd AB, 82nd glider (infantry), 101st, 101st glider (infantry), and say, 1st ID, all on the map at the same time wearing their respective unis. Those hard coded tags kickass, no replacing/overwriting like when we make them. Mord.
  10. I didn't read through the entire thread so i apologize if Emrys posted this already... Mord.
  11. Ahh, cool. There was a lot of engine hammering at the time, trying to get the game under control, so that's probably why it got left by the wayside. Mordante
  12. How though? Maybe using that thick rope thing they shoot into the air (like the Marines have) that blows up all along the line once it lands? You know what I am talking about? Mord.
  13. Not necessarily, all depends on what they change in the upgrades. A lot of times it boils down to naming conventions. We haven't had too many of those since they changed all the uniforms. Terrain has under gone many if any as far as I remember. Watch out, adding mods can lead to mod slutdom, a particular nasty form of OCD. Ask Erwin, he's an addict from way back. So, am I. Mord.
  14. Welcome. Actually MJ (above) and EZ did those many moons ago. Just needed to rename them so you could use them in the campaign without having to edit it. They were made long before all the engine upgrades. They will show up for all US infantry for as long as you leave them in the mod folder. They actually should be renamed as "smod_american_m41_uniform [82nd]" then they would only show up when the 82nd uniform is chosen from the drop down tab in the editor, which you can do on a squad by squad basis. I am gonna go ahead and delete that link seeing that you got them. Mord.
  15. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4u57bm33b08ivz9/325th_Glider_Olive_Drab.zip?dl=0 This will get you through. Mord.
  16. Yep. The problem is the naming conventions have been changed since the campaign was released. I am running him a work around so he can just pop the unis in the mod folder and be on his way. Damn, man. That's some heavy surgery. Glad you are doing well and made it out ok. Yeah, I just got my CM passion reignited after some big changes the last two years. So, minus the heart surgery, I know the feeling. Well, get that Adobe going and fix all those great mods! Mord.
  17. @Swant, give me a little bit I am rigging a work around for you so you don't have to try and edit the campaign. You'll have your uniforms. I have some renaming of BMPs to do. Mord.
  18. So, you're just like us, a PIA? Mord.
  19. At least in those cases the tanks/afvs will actually block something (envelope pushing map making and creative road placement). In CM1 games a knocked out vehicle on a bridge/street etc. could hamper an attack by blocking one's ability to maneuver. You'd have to bring up something big enough to push it out of the way, if it could be pushed at all. If this happens now, we just drive right through it. Just doesn't look right at 1:1 fidelity. Actually you'd expect the opposite, drive through it in CM1(abstraction), push it out of the way in CM2 (1:1 clarity). I think dozers would be out of the time frame, maybe. On another note going back to the IED discussion and possibly this (because I am ADD when it comes CM wish listing/hopes). What was the original intent/plans for this? That tantalizing "currently not simulated" has had me wondering for years. Mord.
  20. Yeah, I forgot about that. I had two others I forgot about as well; hand to hand (something besides grenade tossing) and vehicles being able to push wrecks out of the way. As it stands now, a knocked out vehicle on a road or bridge really doesn't have an effect on movement if they can be driven through. However, I don't think this one will change in CM2. Mord.
  21. Hey, fellas. I feel your pain. I am a completest and want to do this mod (don't need DC until his people show up in a module). Even though the France/Holland version is complete I feel like I have left this unfinished. But I don't have a way to mod at the moment. I built myself a dream comp back in January for my birthday and unfortunately I can't use Adobe Elements 2.0 on it. As I stated somewhere else Gimp is out of the question, I have tried and tried to use it but find it frustrating, stupid, and anger inducing. Almost 20 years of Adobe has left me addicted to muscle memory! So, until I can buy a newer version I am afraid modding may be out for the time being. Mord.
  22. LOL. That time I wasn't asking for something to be added I was asking for something to stay! It was completely benign, I wanted to save you work. Joking aside, you gotta admit, CMSF has the better rubble. Can that aspect stay or does it have to be changed? By that I mean does the newer engine force something older like that to be switched out? But I don't think any of us are gonna be disappointed. This is a dream come true. How many players would've given their left testicular region for CMBO to be brought up to CMBB/AK standards way back when? With what you guys have been doing with CM upgrades and CA's new announcements for Total War historical settings, I don't think there's been a better time in wargaming then now. Mord.
