  1. Put this here because the CMSF forum never seems to get any "official" replies. Are we gonna get any update to terrain selections in the editor when SF2 is created? There are quite a few options (slots) that have been added to the game that fit the Syrian landscape and will add to the depth and immersion of map making and scenarios. weeds, grass tall, flowers, clover (changed to something more fitting to Syria), grass tall, grass extra tall (VERY IMPORTANT), lt forest, hvy forest, marsh, deep marsh, reeds, the 8 types of crops (changed to Syrian related farming). And now that there are three extra tree slots available it'd be nice to see some new flora to fit them. May I suggest; Small palm, palmetto-type plant, barrel type palm, eucalyptus tree.
  2. Ah, cool. I did a search here and on google and didn't get any hits! Wish I'd known that, I spent about two hours screwing around in the game trying to track down what was wrong. Mord.
  3. Onboard mortars, I hope! The Limies have always had that little portable spitball chucker, but I am hoping to see mortars added to everyone, especially Uncons. BFC doesn't usually halfass things, so fingers and butt cheeks crossed. Mord.
  4. Oh and can someone double check the Stug and StuH textures I mentioned above? Also: Omission in CMFI; Fortress Italy has "snowy foot path" tab in the editor but no selection for regular "foot path". Mord.
  5. Thanks, guys. I've been on hiatus the last couple years. Needed to recharge and explore other things for a bit, plus I made some huge life changes. Yeah, man, I am really excited for CMSF2! It's funny, I can remember how all through Shock Force and its modules I was longing for WWII—just couldn't wait for WWII. And now, after all these years, and with the advancements up to and including 4.0, it will probably be my favorite of all the games. Probably because like CMBO, it was the first but this time it doesn't get left behind! I get pumped for ever single CM release but this one is just gonna be special. Mord.
  6. I want to get back into modding eventually, but I can't do anything right now. I bought a monster machine that I hand built back in January and unfortunately the version of Adobe (Elements 2.0) I use won't work on it. I don't have the cash for a new version at the moment. I have tried Gimp a few times, and I find it frustrating and retarded. I have spent almost twenty years using Adobe and don't have the patience to unlearn all that muscle memory. I was messing with Gimp the other day and it makes me want to scream and punch a nun. Mord.
  7. How goes it, fellas? "Ear hairs" would be the only thing still potent on Emrys. BTW, Pete, I have an injustice to fix in the read mes for my forensic mods. YOU were actually the inspiration for the mod and I credited Bil H. Got you guys mixed up at the time. Sorry about that. Mord.
  8. When armored car crews bail out, they are coming up as "tank crews" in their bailed state, instead of "AFV crews". The following vehicles and game titles are infected with this evil. PSW 222 CMBN: Tank Crew PSW 223 CMBN: Tank Crew, CMFB: Tank Crew, CMRT: Tank Crew PSW 231 CMBN: Tank Crew, CMFB: Tank Crew, CMRT:Tank Crew PSW 233 CMBN: Tank Crew, CMFB: Tank Crew, CMRT: Tank Crew PSW 234/1 CMBN: Tank Crew, CMFB: Tank Crew, CMRT: Tank Crew PSW 234/2 CMBN: Tank Crew, CMFB: Tank Crew, CMRT: Tank Crew PSW 234/3 CMBN: Tank Crew, CMFB: Tank Crew, CMRT: Tank Crew In CMFI the StuG IIIG Early & Mid, and the StuH Mid and StuH 42 Early have missing textures. As far as I can tell it happens with the 4.0 upgrade. When I put the lod/mdrs, and textures from previous patches/brzs into the mod folder it goes back to normal. The only change for these vehicles in the 4.0 update is newer lod/mdr files, so the problem must be there...and I don't like it! In CMFI feet are sticking through the bottom of the Grille and ( even worse) through the Marder II. This too, is evil. That is all. Mord. P.S. I don't like this one either! (CMBN Vehicle Pack)
  9. In a way we are getting all that just not at once, but the end result will be that and even more. As of now CMBN is the yard stick from which we can measure— think of the Bulge title as the second half of the equation. When CMFB is finished we'll have the entire CMBO experience (CMBN+ FB) with way more than BO offered at a much finer fidelity and Battlefront will be fairly compensated for their work. In my opinion it's a win-win for all involved. To give you a very basic idea let's take a look at vehicle content. CMBO had a total of 125 vehicles/armor covering the June 44 to May 45 period. In comparison CMBN has 185 vehicles/armor for June to September of 44. Just think what that will be by the time the Bulge wraps up. And that isn't including all the hundreds of other details/features that make up the nations, equipment, TO&Es and regions that we'll have when it's all said and done. So, though it's not all under one roof, it's by far larger and finer detailed than what we had in a single CMX1 title (in this case, CMBO). And seeing that all the titles for CMX2 will share the same engine version, it's basically one title just with separate exes. Mord.
  10. There is a dedicated mud tag already in the game that appears anytime the ground conditions are muddy. Would be interesting to see if the vehicles switched over from vanilla textures to mud tagged textures when the ground changes as in my example above. Mord.
  11. Positive. I tested it out a long time ago. The ground condition heading went from dry to damp to mud if I recall correctly. Took about an hour with heavy rain. Here's a question; Will we see ice? I think frozen water would be very pertinent to the setting. Mord.
  12. Ok. They are out. And when you guys DL them and think "Hey, there are only like 950+ portraits, what took so long?" realize that this is only about half of what was created. I didn't get to the Stug brigades like I wanted either but I will. I had family visit for a week and a bit of burn out slowed the production right down. Normally I wouldn't release this just yet but I am heading out to Colorado for about a month so I figured you guys waited long enough and would be happy to use what is made. I am only gonna post these on Gaj's for now, so that when I get back and finish them I don't have to update two different sites. Maybe the Repos will be redone by then. Note: The Russians are REALLY anemic compared to the Germans but there isn't anything I can do about it unless some of you guys know of a site (maybe on the Russian internet) that has a good deal of identifiers I could use. Apparently they don't have division patches/symbols but maybe there are larger formation symbols out there? Anyway enjoy, hope you guys like them. I'll be headed out tomorrow morning, and may be able to post while I am gone—not sure if I will have access to the internet while I am there. Hopefully when I return the Bulge will be out! http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/5555/details Mord.
  13. Very nice to hear after the info drought we've had. Sounds like a lot of great stuff headed our way. And very cool to see that CMBN is still getting love even though it was basically done. The future of CM is looking very bright. Mord.
  14. c3k would've been a great commander...in WWI. Mord.
  15. Martyrs...in the old days you burned them and that was that....in the age of the internet the victim-hood is eternal. Mord.
  16. AWESOME! Didn't expect that. Nice shots of some of the heavy hitters! Loving that Chaffee! Been such a long time since we've seen one of those. Really digging the camo on those Hetzers too...whoever did those did some beautiful work. Was that you Mikey? Thanks for the pics, Chris. Mord.
  17. Thanks, man, makes me happy to know people enjoy it so much. Mord.
  18. LOL Here we go again—more hyperbole and exaggeration. You keep this up Wiggum and we are gonna have to nominate you for best actor next time the Oscars come around. I think you confuse criticism with tact. Apparently people are only "critics" if they are obnoxious or pushy. But you are right ,we do need guys around that have good ideas and critiques...just with less attitude and pessimism. And yeah, I am gonna buy whatever they put out (because I enjoy the game and system), push for changes where needed or wanted, and patiently wait for the engine to evolve like I have done for the last 7 years. Mord.
  19. Yeah, nothing like having an armed WWII torpedo just sitting around the house...LOL. Imagine you walk out in the garage and your kid is pounding on that thing with a hammer. "Look Dad!" WHACK! Ok so, I can see them confiscating bombs and crap, but do they have the right to take his tanks? That's BS. That Panther looks mint. Mord.
  20. LOL. I live in an in-law apartment attached to my grandparent's old house. My uncle lives in the house part. I have to wait until he leaves to visit my cousin to make mods like that. That way he isn't busting through my door clutching his chest and waving a pistol. Hence, I believe the CMSF mod was originally recorded on Thanksgiving and CMBN's was done on Easter. As for the death screams files...I think the quicker ones are best. The gurgling and stuff is a bit over the top and the files are actually too long in my opinion. I like to keep everything under 3 seconds because as far as I remember the game loads all that in memory and I think the smaller the file the better. Yep. That's me in all my glory. I have screamed myself raw for the immersion of my Combat Mission brothers. I took a lot of my inspiration for the CMSF mod from watching Youtube footage of live combat to get a feel for how those guys talk and react under stress and fire. I don't know if you know but GeorgeMC and I collaborated on a Brit mod for CMSF. I edited a bunch of left over files he had that didn't go into the module and he did a few more for me, not as big as the US one but he's a great voice actor. Yeah, it can be fun...you end up laughing a lot when you screw up your lines (and a lot of stuff just comes to you on the fly while you were thinking of something else). You can get really creative with the files if you just think about what information each one is trying to convey in-game and how you can present that in a realistic manner and not be stale and robotic. Sometimes it can be as as simple as "they're shooting at us" or just having a guy cuss really emotionally as he folds up and bullets are whizzing around him. And you'd be amazed at how much voice inflections can make or ruin a file—a raised word in the wrong spot and it sounds fake, a rising of the voice in a another and it sounds great. It's really fun testing it out in game too. That'd be pretty cool. I had members lined up to act for the Brits in CMSF (twice) but they always ended up backing out. I did start some preliminary files for CMBS....I have a younger cousin and he said he'd be willing to do some acting and possibly some of his buddies, so I am hoping that I'll be able to get them into it and update CMBN while I am at it. Mord.
  21. Which in turn (pun intended) is a quick way to get them ventilated... Mord.
  22. Another thing that might help is to save your games during the order phase, if something goes wrong you can just reload it and try a different tactic, which as stated in another thread can help acclimate you and accelerate you through the learning phase. Beats having to replay the entire battle over again. Mord.
  23. Here ya go. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/119459-staglers-quick-battle-maps/ Mord.
