  1. Belgrade also has a pair of good museums. In the centre of town at the military museum there's a good mix of vehicles on display - Pz I, II, IV, a Stug and a 38t I think. Then there's a couple of soviet tanks as well. Inside the museum is a lot of german hardware. The aviation museum is out next to the airport. Has a great mix of axis and allied planes from both east and west. Lots of modern stuff as well.
  2. Yes!! Really need a simple ctrl+z option both in the editor AND when plotting orders. And fire with smoke. There's so little smoke on a CM battlefield. Loooong overdue. Not as important but another long standing one... Better infantry animations, the spongy ice jogging looks crap. Troops need to actually move quickly and be bent over when under fire. I also detest the conga-lines.
  3. Interesting, thanks for sharing. -F
  4. Careful, you'll be looking at a subscription model soon. How about $5 a month.
  5. I wasn't being completely serious - Bethesda's attempt to allow monetization of mods for Skyrim didn't go down to well. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest that this isn't the way things go at some future point though for games like Skyrim, Fallout et al that have very active modding communities. -F
  6. A la the idea of Bethesda for paid mods... BF should leverage the community. Let users submit scenarioes and campaigns to BF that meet some criteria. Have them vetted by BF staff to do QA. Put them on a in a battle pack for sale. Give the modders a slice of the spoils. What could possibly go wrong?? -F
  7. Nice work, those PzIVs are looking really good. -F
  8. Wished I'd seen it when it came out, seems to sell for pretty penny now. The Mark title I mentioned above does deal a bit more with the fighting up to and around the Barrikady if you're interested. It does focus mostly on the one unit but has a reasonable amount of detail on what's going on around them. -F
  9. Of the CM I've played it's been more CM1 than CM2 since CMBN came out to be honest. I have been and am enthusiastic about CM2 but am yet to get hooked on it like I am/was on CMBB/CMETO. I think I've spent much more time on the editor in CM2 than actually playing. Probably old dog new tricks... I find the higher fidelity has made the game more work than it used to be. Despite being here for many years this has meant whilst I want to support CM I haven't been able to justify purchasing anything more than just CMBN titles. Read into that what you will.
  10. Inserting 2c on this topic (again)... I don't mind the price too much. Would prefer it wasn't a separate game though. -F
  11. A little bit early for RT but... I'm 85% of the way through Into Oblivion Kharkov To Stalingrad: The Story Of Pionier-Bataillon 305 http://www.amazon.com/Into-Oblivion-Kharkov-Stalingrad-Pionier-Bataillon/dp/0992274907 It's pretty good. A lot of detail, especially in the month or so leading up to the 305th divisions entry into Stalingrad when the officer focused on by the author was able to document everything. Interesting to be reading how the great battle for Stalingrad was being fought mostly by units down to less than 20% strength. Lots of maps and photos showing you where the text is taking place and a good deal of personal info and anecdotes about the personalities in the battalion with a smattering of soviet battle reports thrown in as well. -F
  12. Heresy!! The myth of invincibility tells us otherwise - it's on the history channel and the youtubes!! -F
  13. Dons wet blanket... I really wish this was wrapped up with CMBN so the one title covered the whole theatre. Otherwise, yay. -F
  14. Cross post from another forum I frequent, good pics with some nice detailed info on each one presented. http://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/look-at-these-mind-blowing-colourised-images-of-wwii.html -F
  15. I'd love to see foxholes changed from the all round defence type things we have now to the same two man holes arranged in double row straight lines that can be placed to face either horizontal, vertical or diagonally on the terrain with a slight weighting to one side so they can be placed up against something or sitting more behind it. Spotting suggestions in the OP aren't a bad idea. Could also perhaps have none/partial/full camouflaged versions of the fortifications with the associated costs varied and perhaps even graphics if we want to get real fancy. -F
  16. Campaign and scenarioes should be aimed at the full monty install... You know, to encourage the masses to cough up more cash, ahem I mean upgrade -F
  17. You forgot the "this poll is deeply flawed" option. Otherwise campaign/scenario/map packs would be awesomo -F
  18. Great stuff, thanks for the effort If not said already... Perhaps put it all together in a single PDF for download at the end? Good promo material. -F
  19. I have some old recce and google earth pics right here on this PC of Capriquet that I'd gathered with thoughts of perhaps doing a map for it one day. Look forward to checkig out. Was a tough battle. -F
  20. Downloads dying are indeed annoying. Maybe try a download manager? They can often resume a failed download (although in all honesty I'm unsure whether the BF download servers support them). -F
  21. Eastern front it's been said the plan is to work backwards through the years once they've fleshed out CMRT to VE day (I think that's what they're doing with CMRT) No word on other fronts as yet that I recall (edit - besides late war west front, winter 44 to VE day). -F
  22. edit - ha! ninja'd by a wall of text above If it's sweetFX then it ain't that hard. You open the settings text file and either set 0 or 1 to turn things on/off and then go back to the game and hit the reload shaders key. If you want to mess around this the actual settings for the shaders then yeah that can get involved but it's still just editing the same text file. SweetFX adds a very handy screenshot key as well by the way. -F
