Yes, I have the same concern. I really don't hold out much hope that russia will move away from autocratic rule and if it's one thing autocrats need to motivate the people it's a common enemy.

I think russian conscripts would be a lot more open to surrendering to Ukrainians than they were to Chechens.

Check this thread, gets updated regularly. As to official, I recall seeing a tweet re an announcement from the UKR gov that it had lost 1600 servicemen/women. I subsequently read a news site report that it was 1300. That was yesterday I think.

I saw a photo of what was reportedly an Iskander missile (yesterday I think it was) and was wondering how the hell does an apparently intact missile of that size end up abandoned in the woods. I'll see if I can find it. This is the tweet, I don't know enough to say if it is an Iskander

Yeah I agree. This has been my opinion also and caused me to be quite shocked that this even started. As I posted on another forum, even to me, a half-arsed gamer with a bit of historical knowledge on the other side of the world, invading UKR seemed to be a lose-lose situation. Doesn't make sense. My one real hope is that Putin will lose his skin for all the misery he's unleashed.

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised at there being sharing of intel but that's not a given. There have been some comments going around that there's been a general failure of the new Russian secure comms system and they've had to resort to other means of communication, ie open radio channels and civilian mobile SIMs, which the UKR can listen in on and geo-locate.

What russian AF? I've started to see vids of UKR Grad's and howitzers in action now. Evidence they're even less in control perhaps? I do worry this is going to lead to anything that moves being a target for the russians though and more civilian casualties both directly and due to lack of supply.

Helo going down. I've heard the term TicTok war a few times and I've seen a few of these now. Although it's not really new, enabling the sound and having the music is a little jarring, I suppose I'm used to watching these with voice over or silence. No details on what we're seeing here. I know a little Serbian and the start of the track sounds like dobro vece Ukraine - good evening Ukraine or welcome to Ukraine?

Not sure there's that much equivalency really. The starting positions are quite different IMO. A unified nation state vs an external threat compared to a country that was not unified vs an internal threat. The later is always more complex and Afghanistan was even more corrupt and fractured compared to most of UKR I reckon.

From what we've been seeing that wouldn't surprise me at all.
