Hi

I dont come here that often for a few reasons, some are obvious (the stupid Peng thing).

I was just wondering at what stage we are at now with CMSF? I notice there is still no website and that news is scarce on the project apart from the inane usual speculations.

So does anyone from BFC have any news at all on the game? Definitive update appreciated, thanks.

Now Im not from BFC, but heres a little update from what I can remember.

Charles is still in a jar. The coding is so intense now that it has been rumored that his significant other is having to poor some of winecapes best into the jar (possibly replacing all of the original fluid).

Here is a recient quote by Steve. (03/01)

As I've said for many months now, we are doing things the right way instead of the usual way. Our emphasis is on getting the game to be great first, then the atmospheric elements. Most games have wonderful screenshots to show early on, then the rush in the game stuff at the last minute when they realize they are out of time.

and another. (02/xx)

Condition and Fitness remain the same as CMBB/AK. However, individual soldiers have "burden" factored in. What this does is affect Condition modified by Fitness. So a soldier with 30 pound load who is reasonably fit will tire far less quickly than one with a 100 pound load that is equally fit.

The way I see climate being factored in is with the fitness rating. A unit that is fresh to the area in the summer could have its fitness rating reduced by, say, one level. But a unit that has already been there for a while should not be penalized, nor should a fresh unit coming in (say) the winter. Meaning, there will be no "national modifier" at work. The scenario designer makes the call.

Steve

Oh to hell with it I ain't doing anymore of your work.

VERY CM looking! Turn-based, not we-go it seems, but the turns will be chopped into separate 40 second orders & reactions phases. Either very clever or very awkward! Actually, BFC should be pleased. It sorta sounds like an introductory wargame so newbies can become acclimated before they jump into the deep end with proper CM products. :D

OMG you are right!

I did not read well enough, it seems!

I thought that it will be a realistic RTS wargame with CM-like UI and functionality!!!!

I must say that my interest in this game just dropped considerably ...

Best regards,

Thomm

Never.

We gamers can only hope that the competition rips out all the good features of CM and implants them in their own games!

Just as convenient as it is to know that the WASD keys will steer my FPS character it will be to know that a yellow line means incoming fire ... or that pressing '1' brings one to eye level.

Best regards,

Thomm
