I was getting very fatigued by other players' references to blood, killing, death, etc, in their names and felt that it was time to promote a softer, gentler participant. On the box cover the artwork showed the pilot to be a "Lt. Ian_Hull etc I used to play Rainbow six on the MSN zone (still do occasionally) and a group of us got fed up with all the antics of the kids that play there. As we where a bit older than the average we called ourselves "Dads Army" After the BBC TV comedy about the home guard in WW2. Private Pike was one of the characters. We also have a Capt Mainwaring, Cpl Jones, Sgt Wilson etc..The Clans dead now (probably), haven't heard from any of them for a few months, but the name stuck. Sometimes I ahave to use Private Pike DA to get it to work though (or DA Private Pike on the zone). I chose it because it sounds good and because I like some of the very neat mathematics (yes, really) it is used for. Although someone did mention that it sounds a lot like "no habla", so I can also use it as a decoy to set up discussion traps. Triggerhappy Posted February 14, 2001 Share Posted February 14, 2001 When I was starting to play multiplayer matches in first person shooters like Doom and Quake I was looking for a nice nick name. Then one day I saw an American documentary movie about the P-38 Lightning and the commentary stated that one of the advantages of the Lightning was that it was easily recognized by the "often too trigger happy" gunners in the escorted bombers as a USAF plane. I thought that expression sounds very nice plus it also matches my style of play - i love Kamikaze-all-guns-blazing-attacks on my opponents.
