As the old joke goes.  I wanted to join the RMP, but they wouldn't let me when they found out my parents were married.

Hate him or love him, Montgomery was the father of command and control as we play it in a simpler form. Apart from the Bren and the Sten the squad was very much WW 1. He took the lessons of WW 1 too there were whole mining communities wiped out in that conflict. He didn't fight that war, looked after his troops (The Full Monty) and had the British cabinet looking over his shoulder to finish the war by Christmas 1944. Hollywood and the American press are what people take for the Gospel.

Which took a five pence coin or shilling in old money because they were the same size as the 1DM coin meaning canny Brits could get smokes for a fraction of the price when they'd used up their duty free cigarette rations ... so I'm told ... 😏

You would need cutting charges for the hedgehogs.  One for each leg of the hedgehog.  Say 20 - 30 minutes per hedgehog. Also add time for laying out your firing method.  You would still need to remove any stubs sticking up out of the ground after the hedgehog is cut away..  A satchel charge would just scratch a hedgehog.

I can't see any point restricting a player. This is an assault, and the team executes a battle drill. If I stop the 'assault move' two squares away from the objective and place a cover arc on the objective. There is a good chance they lob a grenade there if they get a visual. To cover outside their cover arc is the job of other units. The function of a cover arc is to make sure they look in the right direction. Anyway, it is a long time before I play Pbem and it won't be with people who make up nonsensical rules.

Enforcing VAT only on domestic products when it applies to all would be opposite of protectionist, and remedying that should not be cast as protectionist.  However, no changes that would apply to the digital sale of the game have in fact been made.  Any changes to import of the game physically are changed to the point at which VAT is charged, and would only affect someone who was evading tax in the first instance.

We are talking about the game, to which no new charges apply.  However I will say again that VAT has not been added to anything.  The relief for consignments under £15 has been removed, the EU will be doing the same thing in July 2021, so it would be disingenuous to say it happened because we left the EU.  You have not mentioned any specific charges that have changed, VAT nor customs.  These non-existing changes are here being related to a narrative of protectionism and making leaving the EU look better, I am not interested in speculating on this.

Battlefront has always had to pay VAT, and it had to be charged at the point of sale on the digital product, unless someone can show a relevant exemption.  If you are correct that the 20% increase is VAT (again this is not obviously correct as you suggest) then that would suggest Battlefront had not been meeting this requirement up to now.

What additional taxation?  Again VAT is applicable to all goods, and customs duty was present before.  No-one here has said a free-trade agreement is tax fraud, nor is VAT being charged twice - it is either charged at the point of sale or on import, or deferred to a later date, and can be reclaimed if the product is sold on.  I will avoid discussing economic theory with you, this discussion is too broad already.

Can we plese try to narrow this discussion back down, and sharpen it up.  We were discussing the reason for the 20% increase in price of the game in question for customers in the UK.  Rambling paragraphs with unsubstantiated or vague assertions should be avoided.  Discussion of the benefits or otherwise of one or another trade policy should in my opinion be avoided also.

No worries mate. I play CM and browse the forum as a way of escapism, as I'm sure a lot of us do. I'm just fed up to the back teeth of hearing how we are all doomed after Brexit, by those who never wanted it in the first place. If you really want something to fail it will. I just think we should get on with it now and learn to live with it. Moaning gets you nowhere,  ask my missus 😉

Can we not make this political? It would seem by your post that your not a supporter of Brexit? Nevertheless a democratic vote was taken and the result was Brexit. Wether you agree with the result or not is irrelevant, it is here and we must make the best of it for all concerned. We all know the media love to put a negative spin on everything, continually moaning about what a mistake it is will do no good for anyone, and is quite honestly becoming rather tiresome.

Field Oggy reacted to Zveroboy1 in Unbalanced VP parameters ruining otherwise great scenarios.
These are helpful and very good guidelines no doubt. But personally I can't help but think that expecting this level of work and testing in particular for amateur scenario designers is both unrealistic and in the end also counter-productive. For me it is one of the reasons why we have so few community made scenarios being released these days. The expectations and standards have become way too high.
And what this does is just create more hurdles for aspiring scenario designers. I mean put yourself in the shoes of say someone who just bought the game on Steam and wanted to give scenario design a try for fun. Chances are they are going to read this and just become disheartened and most likely give up, never publishing their work because they deem it is not good enough, leaving us with just a handful of scenario designers co-opted by Battlefront and barely anything else on the side.
I actually strongly push for the opposite approach myself. Simpler scenarios with less work involved. We want to foster more community based content and not require someone to spend 6 months or more working on a scenario. Maybe this is appropriate for an official Battlefront scenario but it should never be what's expected of an amateur scenario in my opinion.
I remember fondly the days of CM1 and also SF1 to some extent, and this is not just nostalgia talking here, where you had hundreds of scenarios being published over the years by the average joe. Maybe someone who never published anything else but had a cool idea, worked on it a little bit in their spare time and shared the result with the community. A lot more people seemed to take a crack at it back then. They just fiddled with the editor and posted the results for other people to play and enjoy.
Were all these scenarios good? No of course not. Most of them were really lacking in one area or the other, some were disappointing or just sloppy. But in the end we had way more content available to play.

I'm not seeing a gun barrel penetrated in this pic. I'm seeing a damaged muzzle brake that would likely not prevent the gun from firing.

Really - you'd be happy to fire a 90mm high explosive projectile down a barrel that is that badly damaged, and potentially partially blocked. I was never a tanker, but if that had ever happened to my rifle I sure as hell would not have fired another round. Guns and their associated mountings and recoil systems are pieces of high precision engineering, with very small tolerances. If these are exceeded, due to damage or other external factors, they stop working as designed and that is inherently dangerous given the amounts of energy at play.
