  1. You get done that way. The AI is just to slow I will post something to make it clear. It actually looks like a real assault. You fire during the assault that is the effect. I know I am recent here it's just because I can't edit.
  2. I disagree I think they will use the weapon as displayed in the GUI. Please show me a Panzerschreck team with an MG 42 as standard.
  3. Not really, Assault from Point A to B. At point A use the LOS tool to fire at the objective now give the Assault command to point B. It is understood the enemy needs to be suppressed. At Point B give the troops a cover arc or use the pointing tool over the limit of their LOS. To make the "Assault" work they fire at every opportunity. I suggest test it and let your eyes be your judge. When I want the troops to fire I use a fire command. With a LOF or cover arc.
  4. The techniques are the same as we use the same game engine. This method works in Battle for Normandy, FB and SF2. It is an assault I have also screenshots of FB. It requires automatic fire and lots of it. Don't try it with bolt action rifles. With British Commonwealth you're at a disadvantage. In RT the Russians have lots of submachine guns and tank support. I keep a log of techniques which work and techniques which sees my troops slaughtered. In World War 2 the US armoured infantry was more suited for assault in regards of equipment. This technique works with them. Assault on a house plot direct area fire, plot the assault movement till inside hand grenade range. Give weapons free on the objective by using a cover arc. Ideally an AFV (Tanks, Halftracks or Armored cars) in support not always available. Replay a game you already played for testing. Assault without direct fire will see your squad decimated. The tactics from WW 2 were from lessons learned in WW 1. Modern techniques find their origin in WW 2. Example Hellcat halftrack and the Bradley. In World War 2 Halftrack and the Hellcat. The Bradley now does the role of both. Fights armor and is also a battle taxi, but it can't breach as well as a tank does. Till the age of 15 I was a non-English speaker I am now 70. Cheers
  5. The first picture I posted ended up on the bottom. It is important to suppress your objective first. Try this method of the combination of direct area fire combined with the assault move. At 20 or less meters they will use their hand grenades (important). Reason I play on WeGo you can replay and find out which system works the best. The other important thing is use Veterans +1 leadership +1 morale or higher for an assault. This method worked in all CM games. I let the best squads I have, to do an assault. The squad had no casualties, and it is beautiful to watch like real.
  6. What I found works very well is suppress by one squad, 2nd squad is ready to assault. when you assault you have point A when you can plot direct fire on a position. Plot direct fire now place the assault waypoint 20 meters or less in front of the position and place a cover arc over the position you're about to secure. This will ensure the troops will use their handgrenades. (soldier on the left. These are the killers. Starting Point plot direct area fire bottom picture, top picture objective.
  7. Maintain communications. Scouts must be in visual range of its HQ his own squad behind the HQ. When you split what are your reasons. Maintaining C2 is the most challenging and the most rewarding. It becomes clear on Iron but get into the habit on all levels. Then again SF2 is different every squaddie has a communications device. Happy gaming.
  8. Shoot out at the Aachen Corral wonder why he wasted an HVAP at this range (340 meters)? A fair duel caught him completely unaware.
  9. Formation selection. If you have an armored infantry, they can function in the AFV's assigned to them in their formation to operate the .50 Cal. Not for example operate the .50 Browning on top of a Sherman's turret who is supporting them. Yes, you can break off a scout of your armored infantry, he can jump on a Sherman as a passenger and share his C2 contacts, but he can't fire the .50 Cal in front of him. I think he should be able too, but he can't. However, this is my best guess. Look at the C2 structure of the passengers and the scout car. Easy to check jump a scout on an M4 and see or he has become a gunner, I think he will only be able to use his personal weapon. The formations can be checked in the editor, there you can adjust the game by giving it a new name. This is important otherwise you lose the original.
  10. True the ISII the same the 122mm shell jammed at least the turret if not penetrating, let alone the SU-152. Just the rate of fire let those beasts down.
  11. Ok there is the answer of your problem, whoever was the editor. In all the stock scenarios there is no problem. Halftracks etc. let the passengers function as gunner.
  12. There is a couple of issues like that in the campaign. I think it has been designed that way. I put things like that down to sabotage by the local resistance for example.
  13. I think I cracked it. I suspect he has done buddy aid and picked up the MG42 the Panzerschreck is not his primary weapon any more. Please compare your Panzerschreck team with a standard Panzerschreck team.
  14. Very good point, I think you keep the benefit if the tank of the contact marker is the same tank even if the tank makes full contact after changing position. It is purely subjective thinking on my part. But it is not unreasonable to think that a tank commander would be still alert and can figure out the enemy's next move. If they would publicize fully how the game engine works, it would be the ultimate intel and the game wouldn't be worth playing. If my positions are overwhelmed with contact icons I will resume recon to refresh them. Assume that the dimmer contact icons are not the same.
  15. **** happens, is what happens between the campaigns. I remember a clown who was drunk put petrol or should I say gas in the radiator and water in the petrol tank. Guess what could have happened. Stack his looted Lucky Strikes in the gun barrel didn't tell anybody about it and test fired the gun. We need the editor of the campaign to answer those questions we can only theorize and guess.
  16. Okay I will post something about don't get shot at. It was 2:1 infantry tactics. Against an enemy in a covered and concealed position. Here it is. Team A suppresses Team B Direct Area Fire, Movement Assault. During all the movement they keep firing and even now we see combat stress. Don't duel they did it while team A was engaging.
  17. Yes, they don't use a tactical nuclear warhead in the game.
  18. Ok each his own, Abrams vs a Toyota Pick Up Truck is my style. Naturally from the flanks from a hull down ambush. First call in some fighter bombers and artillery to make sure
  19. Hope you don't adopt the tactic of firing at the glacis of an enemy tank even when you think you have a superior tank. Engage when it is likely that the engagement will be as honest and as fair as a bullfight in Spain.
  20. Forest Gump should be compulsory viewing on this forum. Wisdoms: "Sh*t happens!" Going on patrol in Vietnam looking for the VC: "Charley, where are you?" Yes, all sorts of things have some flaws. The doors in FB 'Knock Them All Down'. are often locked or a nervous scout is too scared to enter. Can't blame the scout. I would have been nervous too in Aachen in 1944. The most useful thing I learned here on the forums is travel-modes of the vehicles. Some people indeed are useful.
  21. If you don't agree with me on this forum you better keep it for yourself. Ref: David Fletcher, Tank Chats. Brilliant man.
  22. All good note I say All Good and not OK always welcome to ask questions. Whether you command a fireteam or a division there is always the emphasis on one or the other. Attack or Assault makes no difference on the strategy you have whether it is defensive or offensive operations. CM gives you plenty of opportunities. To explain the difference between an attack and an assault is another story.
  23. Thanks, I will have a go with Shakespearean English The problem you read a book and then to try to formulate it in a few paragraphs makes it hard sometimes. The media particularly the American was not fair towards Montgomery. They broke out of Normandy and they mention only Patton who succeeded where Montgomery failed according to them. So, I gave the example of a fireteam. Pointman stops and gives the hand signal. The marksman of the team takes out the enemy or the RO signals it to HQ. The Battle for Normandy is where WW 2 was won, and it almost ended there. Just a briefcase was shifted, from hindsight it is easy.
  24. Here is the reference: "While Goodwood failed in its primary aim, it forced the Germans to keep powerful formations opposite the British and Canadians on the eastern flank of the Normandy beachhead and Operation Cobra, the First US Army attack which began on 25 July, caused the weaker German defenses opposite to collapse." The British Commonwealth engaged first and enabled the US forces to carry out Operation Cobra. Basic tactics even a four men fireteam employs. A hand signal of squaddie A to squaddie B. Is it right to give squaddie B the credit? It was a team's effort. Which unit gives you more fire power in CM Battle for Normandy? I find it the US armored infantry its first squad often has a radio which enables to keep its intel up to date. You can exploit opportunities much faster. Just the American media irks me when they have their opinion about Monty. Operation Goodwood - Wikipedia
