Xorg_Xalargsky reacted to IICptMillerII in Editing characteristics of armor and ammunition
You cannot edit the characteristics of weapons or equipment, and you never will be able to. Thank the gods for that too.

You should be ok by just copying the file. After all, for all intents and purposes, CM2 games are composed of two parts : the executable and the .brz files.

Xorg_Xalargsky reacted to Combatintman in Exciting news about Battlefront and Slitherine
He makes me look like Guderian's love child though ... I cringed throughout the Abu Susah battle "Javelins - not sure how useful they will be ..." and then getting a fully embarked Stryker whacked on or about turn 2 and then just going full frontal ... again with troops embarked right up to the front door of the Madrassa. Perhaps I'm not such a sh1t player after all. Nevertheless, entertaining.

I agree, as an average consumer myself, I can't wait to leverage Steam's public platform for the benefit of the community and to provide honest feedback in good faith.

Any way to use existing keys to migrate games over to steam? (Once they are there)

Xorg_Xalargsky got a reaction from Warts 'n' all in Fighting in woods
Fighting in heavily defended woods, unless you have high-quality infantry with lots of automatics, or the woods are very small and you have lots of artillery shells on tap is something you want to avoid as much as possible.
In the situation you described, I can make out or assume the following :
there are two small well defended woods that you have to clear entirely and occupy the enemy defenses consists of light infantry are equipped with a standard load of small arms you have an infantry company plus armored support In this case, here are some possible courses of action, to mix and match according to your best judgement
consider using prolonged tank machinegun fire to provide a blanket of suppression consider using a lot of artillery before going in, 80-105mm range would be ideal consider surrounding the woods as much as possible to be able to intercept any movement send scouts ahead to learn of enemy positions, keep them in C2 as much as possible, knowledge of potential enemy positions will be great help for spotting split your men into teams and space them out manually use what micro-terrain there is, unless we're talking about the deepest most pristine forests of eastern europe, woods usually have terrain features that allow for better spotting, easier movement, good or bad concealment; pay special attention to the underlying terrain tiles, the shape of the terrain, the types of trees, the presence of extra foliage like bushes or small hedgegrows, and the alignment of the trees use the slower movement commands and watch out for your men's stamina, it drains extremely quickly in heavy forest terrain if the enemy line has gaps, try to create micro-encirclement as engagement (let alone spotting) ranges are very small and troops attacked from multiple directions fare very poorly in terms of defending themselves and keeping their morale

Xorg_Xalargsky reacted to IICptMillerII in Complete Road to Montebourg
This was a great video series! I’m on the last episode myself. Sad to know that it’s ending, but also congrats on finishing! It’s certainly one of the single longest campaigns in any CM game if memory serves.
Looking forward to what comes next!

Xorg_Xalargsky reacted to Hapless in Complete Road to Montebourg
After a full year and a half I've finally finished CMBN's original Road to Montebourg campaign. Only took me a decade to get round to it after buying CMBN!
Here's the full playlist, there should be a link in the top right of the embed you can use to swap between missions:

Xorg_Xalargsky reacted to butler69 in What the actual hell is this game?
I own all CMx1 and x2 titles, but what the actual hell is this game?
Two US rifle squads from a stock mission (called House Cleaning, or whatever that US MOUT team clearing the hospital mission is called).. cannot kill a single dude. The best part is, this single dude with an AK has suppressed both squads, killed team members of those squads and refuses to be suppressed or even killed by multiple M4s, multiple 40mm grenades and whatever else these dudes throw at him. This is unacceptable... seriously. I don't know what they're feeding this dude, or what type of morale he's got especially since i'm pretty sure the rest of his squad is surrendered but this guy's got some massive balls.
It just blows my mind that literally ONE guy, with a RIFLE, can do this. I'm no retard or anything, but I think I have the fire superiority here. I never complain, because I know if I lose or get guys killed.. it is my fault but like this is garbage. This has been going on for several minutes because I am actually impressed and want to see the outcome.

Xorg_Xalargsky reacted to IICptMillerII in Upgrade 3 + 4....
That bug has been thoroughly squashed with the release of the new patch. I would recommend upgrading your game to the most recent version. The TacAI behavior is quite good now in my opinion.

Xorg_Xalargsky reacted to com-intern in Issues with tank targeting accuracy
Really the big trick Battlefront is missing is that these games are packed with detail but essentially none of it is explained. If the game explained why something happened or changed it'd go a long way to improving player interaction because right now you practically need your own military library to get much depth out of the series. And while I'm okay spending $80 for Bloody Streets most people aren't so the fact that the game is detailed doesn't really matter.
There are a ton of little factors but to engage it in the broadest terms the farther back you go in time the less deadly being spotted is. Essentially combat is a SEE -> SHOOT -> KILL loop but the efficiency of that loop changes.
Black Sea to Shock Force sees a reduction in that efficiency. Shock Force to the WW2 games sees a reduction. '44/'45 to '41/'42 sees a reduction.
To put it in the simplest in 1941 fighting is quaint. You've got nearly all bolt-actions, the scary 37mm gun, what is a shaped charge? jump ahead to '45 and its MORE DAKKA. More automatics, more semi-autos, more shaped charges, larger caliber guns , etc....

I findbgreat joy in buying my.son and mom.stuff and also buying someone a book and stuff. But otherwise.. its true its a curse. Maybe if it wqs enough for permanent life of leisure. But all this has done is cause me.to obsess over a balance. Smh.
Nidan bless him.. is gone. Sburke youve gifted me stuff. What would you like?
I shall be trawling thru my order history (also if someone at bfc is bored and wants to tell.me wat was gifted)
I want to.settle.accounts.
Also im not rich but in honor of nidan I want community input (privately pls) on newcomer most likely to.stick arnd and most into the series. I will gift them a game of their choice.. as long as they choose a cm game
