Yeah, I downloaded my previous installation to a separate directory, so between the beer and the enthusiasm I may have misspoke. My apologies to all current and former victims of said post.

LOL This is great news. I love how every time people fail to read or fail to understand the part about keeping things quiet. It's even right there in bold Important.

BFC posters sometimes remind me of Star Wars fans grilling actors at Comi-con over details of arcane Star Wars lore. Not only are they outraged that the poor actors don't know what they're talking about, the super-fans disagree amongst themselves about what the correct answer should be.

To be fair, although I agree the schizophrenia is a little annoying, we have a situation where a bug first reported four years ago appears to have been not important enough to have been fixed... but was important enough to (slightly) delay a major module release.

No matter how you cut it, there are problems with how bug reporting (and acknowledgement of said reporting) is taking place... a problem which then exacerbates other communication issues between BFC & some of its customers.

Some impressions of the Autobahn Bridge near Fuerstenwalde, where mixed forces of Heer and Waffen-SS tried to hold a bridgehead to the north until 25th April 1945, in order to rescue the last rearguard from Festung Frankfurt/Oder...

I agree with this in the most part but sometimes to achieve objectives you have to be aggressive. And sometimes pixeltruppen die. I learned this the hard way playing as the Soviets. I'd lose less men, but I'd always come out with only half a victory due to the objectives.

I can agree that the idea of poorly armed militia isn't as interesting to many people, but for me, I don't know honestly. Maybe its the fact that the fighting forces of Germany have been reduced to scraping the bottom of the barrel to drag anyone that could hold a rifle into battle. A very stark contrast to the Panzer-grenadiers that were fighting on the frontline only a year prior.
Also, I really like how the ones modelled in the screenshots have nothing more than suits and hats, it shows how underequipped they were against such a greater equipped and motivated foe. I would be doubly surprised if they even managed to code in some wearing helmets with their business suits.

Progress of map making is going on. So, I hope to be able to start the playtesting with both of my Campaign projects within the next weeks. This Campaign will finally include 16 single battles from 23rd April 1945 in the area of Frankfurt/Oder to 7th May 1945 at the Elbe-River.

There was an interesting Youtube video by Usually Hapless where he compares American/British/German infantry squads (and I think mentions the Russians too). He highlighted the type of weapon you're fielding makes all the difference. Germans have their bolt action Kar98k rifle but they're supported by the murderous MG42. Americans are just supported by B.A.R. but they make up for it with everybody fielding the M1 Garand semi-auto, plus there's a lot more bodies in an American squad. Brits more resemble the Germans with their bolt-action rifles except their LMG isn't on par with MG42.
Russians seem to be roughly equivalent to Brits. A small-ish squad with bolt action rifles and a lackluster lmg embedded,  plus the platoon leader with his LMG. This is all a generalization of course. It doesn't account for the scattering of assault rifles within units or  attached forces within a company structure like hmg squads, mortar and sniper teams and smg squads which are murderous at close range.
In Fire and Rubble there's the new volkssturm and partisans. a veritable hodge-podge of weapon types that makes it difficult to grade their relative effectiveness.

Actually, most of us have thought about these issues and have various sad, complex and humanitarian opinions, often coloured by the experiences of the many people we know, have known love or have talked to or read about - but we prefer not to be drawn into politicised arguments in the BF Community.
Sometimes it spills over because we're only human, but we try and leave the angry debates in the world outside, as it spoils the fun of discussing a game we love

When you buy it on Steam, both Steam and Slitherine take a cut before it gets to BFC. When you buy direct from BFC there is no cut taken. It's pretty simple.

Yes, no other soldier displayed bravery like the German soldier, definitely not the Russian soldier who literally fought for the survival of his people. Who knew that if the Germans succeeded a genocidal campaign would be carried out to kill or enslave every single Russian in his country. I don't even know what to say about your comment on American soldiers, your sweeping generalization is just funny to me honestly. I'd imagine though that the ones who encountered the concentration camps or heard of them fought pretty damn well against the bastards who enabled it, that's good enough for me for that war.
German soldiers being war criminals is well documented in every service, so yes you can try to hand wave away a lot by saying "Not every German soldier!" but it doesn't do anything to the now well known fact that the Wehrmacht carried out the policies of the Nazi government and systematically murdered their way through Europe.  Also your right most did know they fought for an evil regime and they still kept fighting before they even knew they were going to lose! What does that tell you about those men?
