  1. I think it is a pretty cool idea, clearly, and hope others will to. Have fun everyone and thanks to @Ithikial_AU for the great idea and putting it all together.
  2. A lot of good reading there. For BMP3s I have been doing this for a while now, since reading those threads. I usually use split off scout teams, sniper teams and the platoon HQ. I have not purchased teams to fill those seats but I can confirm that having someone in the command chair does help a lot with spotting. Mind you I do a lot of area fire from the BMPs based on spotting from the rest of the platoon so it only matters some of the time.
  3. @Rinaldi once you have an author account there you should be able to add / update your own scenarios without his assistance.
  4. Very nice. Thanks for writing all this up!
  5. Yeah agreed. About the only thing I can think of doing is having a scenario with a lot of split squads and then run then through a gauntlet of opfor and then sort out single man teams with scoped and non scoped rifles. Then you could do some tests. Wether it is worth doing or not is up to you.
  6. That wasn't low. I was serious. You have an opportunity to show you are no snowflake and can put forth an argument against the one above. Or better yet concede on some points and expand on others. Ignore the jibes and know that I'm not trying to do that. Better yet if you think I am being a jerk, ignore me too. But show up the mistakes and acknowledge the good points in the above argument.
  7. LOL so far, from my vantage point, @panzersaurkrautwerfer is the only person on this thread who has written anything serious. He is probably the only one entitled to poke a little fun. I look forward to your showing your tremendous maturity and putting together a serious response and elevating this thread back up.
  8. This. Mind you play campaigns against humans is not really doable but the point is the other side needs a chance to win too. @Michael Emrys's advice is the way to go to get that overwhelming force scenario.
  9. I am unaware of any uniform texture name changes between v3 and v4. You could be certain by cracking open the .brz files and looking at the file names. Nope. Try this. Remove the tag and make sure the mod works. Once it works put the tag back. It is really easy to mess up either step and with no log messages it is basically not possible to debug directly so you have to break things down step by step.
  10. My bold - definitely a starting point (with the caveat that you don't' want that to become a blank check for people to use to manipulate you). More importantly the phrase "You can't kill and idea" is not really capturing the true nature of what we are talking about. You can use that phrase to make your self feel better about not being able to do anything about something. Or you can look at the techniques that the side with the bad idea used for the last 70 years to propagate the idea and work to disrupt those methods and or insert your own counter idea. A few current and historic examples: China does not spend so much time censoring / controlling the content of the internet that their citizens can see because they accept that you cannot kill and idea. The Soviet Union did not rewrite the school history books because they agreed that you cannot kill an idea. White supremacists did not erect monuments to villains and laws to restrict human rights because they accepted that you cannot kill an idea. While those are extreme examples using techniques we consider illegal and immoral there are things that we in a free society could do to counter those ideas. Here are a few, economic aid (not the failed methods of the last 50 years stuff that we can see can work now) [to disrupt the pool of poor / hopeless recruits], educational opportunities [to many places the free education is being provided by entities that are sympathetic to the bad ideas we are talking about], get social media providers to actually stop hate speech and vile propaganda [to disrupt the spread of the worst of the worst ideas], or my favourite, actually call out and sanction or otherwise put pressure on regimes that are allowing this crap to go on or are funding same [no funds, no government protection, bad people spreading bad ideas have a much tougher time].
  11. If you log into your account page click on "My Account" across the top. That will display a list of purchases. Clicking on one will bring you to a page with a list of what you bought. Each link in that list will bring you to another page where you can dl the installer and get the key for that purchase.
  12. I white list the install directory where I put the game. No reoccurrence. Oh wait are you hitting this when you download the install package? If so that will not be as easy to deal with but at least you can override it when it fails to download.
  13. I recommend using tags for these "transparent vehicles for making a building look like it is burning" because that way they can be tied to a specific scenario. If you do not use tags on the mod then all vehicles of that type in all games played on that system will be transparent.
  14. An official comment from whom? There is no way it is worth BFC spending time looking at this because the anti virus vendors will not be interested in talking to them. BFC is way to small. I am sure you can get a canned response from your antivirus vendor if you wait long enough. I get the feeling they don't care too much about these issues they care more about making sure they do not miss any real threats. Which, may in fact make sense. Games are especially prone to false positive hits because of their heavy use of DRM libraries as some of the techniques used to protect the license are the same ones the bad guys use to hide what they are doing. In the end the DRM library providers might have a bit more pull but even then I doubt the anti virus guys would bend over backwards for them either. Bottom line is you know BFC is trustworthy (or you have at least accepted them as a risk you are willing to take :-) so we should do whatever we need to do to get our antivirus software to stop looking at products from BFC.
  15. LOL, yeah and since said member has done this many many times I have the forum set to ignore him so I only read @panzersaurkrautwerfer's posts which were interesting.
  16. RE: Folders in folders. I am not sure what @MikeyD is getting at. I have folders inside folders all over the place and my mods work. For example in my z folder I have a v folder which contains a folder for each vehicle. Works like a charm. RE: uniform issues. One of the upgrades (I forget which) changed the way uniform mods were numbered. This means that older uniform mods will not work without some file renaming. This was discussed some where on the forum but I am not sure where. Not sure if that is at play here though.
  17. The Blitz is running two scenarios this month. Sign up for the September Scenario of the Month has started over at the Blitz. This month the scenarios are: CMFI: Veni Vidi Vici * (requires the Gustav Line module) CMBS: BSBP 01 Honor (requires the new CMBS Battle Pack) The form post on theBlitz for sign up.

  19. I already have them on my HD. PM me with your email - apologies if you did that on the past - I don't keep track of who is who. Let me know what campaigns scenarios you are looking for and I'll package them up in a zip file for ya. I am not at a real computer all day so it will be tomorrow.
  20. Hummmm I'm not going to get any computer time today to test things out but it has been working for me. Check that you have the latest version and look at http://www.combatmission.lesliesoftware.com To see if the campaigns you want are properly listed. If they are then worst case I have the campaign scenarios on my HD.
  21. The context matters too. If the crew is threatened by near by infantry they will come out in an effort to defend themselves. Are they engaging enemy infantry close in? Also the change that @MikeyD is talking about is in the v4 engine upgrade for CMFI.
