  1. I totally agree. I recently finished a quick battle where I had three of these launchers in a reverse slow position. The enemy T90s made short work on my T64s and I feared the worst when the first two SKIF missiles missed but over the next two minutes those teams fired four missiles and scored four wrecked T90s. That defiantly slowed my opponent's advance. I still lost but it was a great few turns
  2. Hey, @Badger73 now you can up vote his post - check out the heart icon at the bottom of it.
  3. LOL - This might be the funniest first post on the forums...
  4. It does not create a script file but it does extract the information you can use to create one. Check out http://www.combatmission.lesliesoftware.com/BattleForNormandy/Campaigns/Amiens Tonight.html and notice between the tree diagram and the scenario table you can derive a campaign script. However the core units are "lost" because they are not preserved in the final .cam file. I say lost in quotes because you could probably reverse engineer what was core by looking at all the scenarios and then create a core file and then go scenario by scenario deleting units and adding them back from the core file making sure they get reassigned to the right groups and are redeployed the same as the original. But that could be a very large amount of work.
  5. Oh yuck. Sorry - hard pass on that. Heck ya. I thought you were a Brit living down under given your forum handle. LOL +1 to that.
  6. It is a bit of an odd one but I do not think there is anything wrong with your upload. Only one browser is confused and you can work around it even the...
  7. Spot on analysis. BTW iron mode still annoys this WEGO player but I still get to pay it a lot since I have a couple of regular players who really like it.
  8. Interesting when I click on it in FF it navigates like it is trying to go to a new page and I see gibberish as the browser tries to render the binary as a page. I tried: Edge - worked, Internet Explorer - worked, Chrome - worked, Fire Fox - borked Fire Fox with all addins disabled - borked Meanwhile I am currently using FF to download all the shock force scenarios and have not had this problem with any of them. Hence my original conclusion that there was something wrong with the page.
  9. The plan Steve has talked about called it a new release. Given so much has changed even a new DRM I highly doubt that a patch would be practical. By QBEM do you mean quick battles by email? It has also been announced that the new CMSF2 will have all the features of the CM 4.0 engine so I interpret that as being yes quick battles are supported along with play by email.
  10. Iron was there from the start of CMBN (not sure about SF). I have a vague idea that something changed at one point too but a ) it has been like it is for a really long time and b ) it makes playing iron just bearable - if during the command phase in WEGO you cannot see all your forces it is soooooooo frustrating. I for one am totally good with the way the game behaves. I vote doc bug and move on
  11. Both the original post made by Steve and later in this thread Steve said that their stated goal is to allow CMSF2 to load and play all the old scenarios.
  12. Interesting. @Bootie there is something wrong with the HTML on the site since browsers are treating it like a text file - with predictable results. @Swant if you right click on the link and select "Save Link As..." (using FF similar command for other browssers) you can get it to save the file as a .7z file and it will then be open-able by a zip program that supports that format.
  13. LOL, good thing you don't know where we live then.
  14. No big scenarios for you then. My first machine had trouble with large scenarios but never as bad as what you are experiencing. I was always able to get the fps up to 15 or so which is enough for not to painful camera movement by dropping the image quality. It was not a particularly satisfying experience. So, I bought a new machine. Thankfully I was not the only person in my house that had trouble with the performance of the old machine. That made getting approval from the finance department easier Yeah, I'm with ya there. The engine we have is what we have. When you are specking out your new machine some day I would recommend spending a bit more on the mother board (in other words get one that has a faster buss rather than the cheapest available) and focus on a better CPU over a better GPU. Obviously there is a quite a steep curve at the top end of CPUs and GPUs all I mean is if you have x dollars to spend on a CPU and a GPU spend more than half on the CPU since extra $ there will give you better bang for you buck. Also it seems that you might be better off getting a higher GHz i5 than a slower GHz i7 since CM is mostly single processor. LOL you young pups. Think of all the time you have to look forward to playing the game.
  15. Have you had one run out of ammo? The are the quintessential egg with a hammer . I usually find they die long before they run out of ammo.
  16. I only play WEGO. I don't think I have even played a single scenario in real time. I have small pockets of time when I can play and I have very little interest in playing the AI. So no blocks of time to play, only playing humans. That pretty much means it's WEGO for me.
  17. Once you finish your mods I recommend uploading them to the CM Mod site: http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net
  18. Not sure how that solves anything. Why would following the orders of the squad NCO be quicker but more tiring than following the orders of the Platoon Lt.? OK, sure. I think the game still offers and shows a significant difference in effectiveness when troops are better trained. Lessor command delays is not required for that. My bold: that's not what the feature did. And even if it did that would still not solve the basic problem. Some searching came up with this thread:
  19. That is not what that means. If as you know there is much more to a smooth experience than memory, or graphics card or CPU it is the combination. If you were to spring for a new Mac I am certain you would experience much better performance but you could do that with new PC hardware too. The nice thing about Macs is you are sure to not get a system with a week link. But you pay a premium for the system.
  20. It turns out I have the power. I checked the .exe headers for CMBS and yes it is large address aware. So it can access 4Gb.
  21. The 2Gb limit on 32 bit programs was yet another arbitrary limit imposed by Microsoft. No one will ever need more the 360Kb . I thought I saw a post that CM2 was large address space aware (which is M$ speak for allowing it to skip that limit). If I am wrong then it is limited to 2Gb instead. Those limits do not apply to the Mac version, BTW.
  22. Yes, that quote means what you hope it means. That is the stated plan. So, good news for you / all. We should all remember that while there are a lot of scenarios available, some of them were made while people were learning how to create scenarios, and all of them had less groups to work with along with no triggers. Couple that with behaviour changes that have been made in engine version 1, 2, 3 and 4 there could be some surprises. But worst case you can crack them open and tweak them if you need / want to.
