  1. I get what you all are saying, but imho a Stryker platoon attacking a motorized rifle company out of prepared positions is not balanced. But I see what you are saying. I have to get into scenario design.
  2. Hi guys, as some of you might have realized I am pretty new to the CM series and CMBS. I have a question in regards to force ratios in the battles and scenarios. This question was prompted by playing the battle Objective Delta. I always play on Iron as I want the most realistic experience possible, but I have started to doubt that this is possible in the pre-made battles and scenarios. I am attacking with a reinforced Stryker platoon. So far, I have taken out 1 tank and 9 IFVs, which leads me to believe that I am at least up against a reinforced Russian motorized rifle company. This ratio is off, the attacker is outnumbering me 2:1, and even though I do have CAS and artillery available, this makes me wonder. Thinking as a PL attacking against an enemy in prepared positions that outnumbers me at least 2:1, in terrain that severely restricts my own maneuver, an enemy with weapons more capable than my Strykers (which are not amphibious and do not have ATGMs) and more artillery, and a time cap of only one hour, this mission seems to me like suicide. Yes, obviously it can happen in real life that I am tasked to attack a squad with my platoon and end up attacking a company defending out of prepared defenses, but that's when I radio to higher and tell them "hey, I have a company up against my platoon, I won't be able to do all this by myself". Any commander ordering a Stryker platoon to attack against a reinforced Russian motorized rifle company is just throwing men into the meatgrinder. So to make matters short, it seems like the conditions seem way off in many battles and that leaves me wondering: what am I missing? Am I getting this all wrong? Cheers, Ilhan
  3. Yeah. The thing that bugs me is that, when I have to defend a position as a company, and I see a tank battalion or even a tank company racing at me, I would expect that the artillery arrives much much faster. I think it is possible, and I think it should be possible to have an emergency artillery barrage for such cases. Which, in CMBS still takes forever. I thought so? Or is there a way of creating TRPs in Battles and Campaigns?
  4. Agreed. Unfortunately the number of TRPs is limited by the engine. I like the realism part and I was wondering from a realistic point of view how to effectively use CAS and artillery. Especially in the case of CAS, my impression was that one can use it as a form of QRF, but now I have come to the conclusion that it's best to send in CAS at a predetermined moment, allocate a big area as the mission, and let them do their work. It's not very good for taking care of a sudden armor breakthrough. That's how I have been using snipers, but I was wondering if there is a way to use them actually as snipers, or if they are a form of glorified recon (in-game).
  5. I play at iron, and I find artillery utterly useless. The situation has totally changed when the shells arrive and it seems to me just like a waste of ammo. So I was thinking maybe I am missing something. Sounds very frustrating and useless when attacked by a fast opponent.
  6. Yes, and doctrinally they are either used against high value targets and recon. So are you supposed to use them against HQs?
  7. Hi guys, new here to the forums and appreciate the community. I have a question in regards to how to properly use artillery, cas, and snipers. Artillery and CAS seems to take way too long to come into effect, even when spotted by an FO. Snipers seem to be FOs and recon teams with just another name. What am I not getting about these three? Cheers, ilhan
