  1. And for what it's worth: North Africa: Apparently taken in Sicily: Others: If those don't count as combat photos, then nothing will.
  2. A couple of Italians here have said they wore them in combat. Isn't that good enough? Or are we going to have this discussion again as to what constitutes a combat photo and what doesn't?
  3. I'd work on your grammar and sentence structure in the meanwhile.
  4. They are obviously aviation-centered, but the three volumes of Black Cross / Red Star do a good objective job of looking at the air war on the Eastern Front. All of them are based on recent research based in good part on the Soviet archives which were finally opened up after the end of the Cold War. For ground combat, I have not read this one yet, but from what I've seen in reviews it's a good read: A Writer at War: Vasily Grossman with the Red Army, 1941-1945. http://www.amazon.com/Writer-War-Vasily-Grossman-1941-1945/dp/0375424075/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3PJOCPPJLE6O&colid=32T3ABBIG3LG6. It was translated in part by Antony Beevor.
  5. Well, to be fair, many of the stock vehicle textures have nice weathering on them. For instance, the American Shermans have a nice layer of dirt on them that looks good without being overdone.
  6. Actually, I'm one of those as well who for the most part is satisfied with the stock textures. The only ones I've replaced are those for the rifles, mgs, etc., done by Rambler.
  7. Thanks for the comments, Steve. Hopefully the shadow issues with AMD cards does get worked out, because other than that CMBN runs great on my computer.
  8. It has nothing to do with the graphics card. Trust me, I have a high-end card and get the ugly shadows and distorted field texture effects so many have seen and reported, even though it's running CMBN at max details.
  9. Has any work been done on the weapon textures? Many of them (i.e., the Garand, M1 Carbine, and K98) look far too "new" and bright and just don't really fit in with the surrounding textures. Also, please, please, please, fix the bolt handle on the K98. I see from the pic above that it's still straight like a Yugoslavian Mauser and not bent like on a K98.
  10. I knew there was a reason why I keep JK on my Ignore list.
  11. Based on the manual, this is how I've always interpreted the experience levels: Conscript: barely trained (or not trained at all) troops. Example: Volksturm formations. Green: inadequately trained troops with no experience, or professionally-trained troops who are being employed outside of their normal area of training. Examples: Luftwaffe infantry, cooks/messengers/supply/signals personnel. Also, Ost battalion troops could fall into this category. Regular: properly-trained combat arms troops who either lack experience or are a mix of experienced troops and fresh replacements. Examples: American troops landing at Normandy, typical German formations, etc. Veteran: troops with good training and battlefield experience, or troops who've trained to a higher standard than other formations. Examples: paratrooper/glider infantry, German units with Eastern Front experience. Crack/Elite: the best of the best.
  12. I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I don't like Green troops. Even when handled properly, they get spooked too easily by enemy fire and can't be consistently relied upon. Regular troops IMO strike that right balance - they know how to handle incoming enemy fire, but they also will only tolerate so much before they start to crack. It's exactly for that reason that I like the original version of the Montebourg campaign.
  13. Or, as is almost always the case, the footage showing the guy driving away in a jeep that looks like it's on fire.
  14. If they've edited their screenshots to JPEG format, there's no way in the world they should be 3-5MB in size. That only happens if you leave in a format like BMP.
  15. Except that we can't read anything on that tiny screenshot of yours.
  16. These platoon HQs are about halfway across the map from their company HQs, and the status panel shows they are not in C2 with the company HQ. There are no friendly vehicles on this map.
  17. I'm currently playing the Hell in the Hedgerows campaign mission. Each of the two company HQs has an 81mm mortar attached to it. Currently these mortars and the company HQs are out of visual contact and non-radio voice contact with all platoons on the map. A couple of the platoon HQs show they have no radio in their inventory, yet they are able to access these two 81mm mortars without any issues. Bug, or working as intended?
  18. They can all be brought up in the game's interface.
  19. Attempting to carry an M2 on your back will quickly earn you a quick trip to the hospital. The thing is very heavy. We'd always carry the barrel separately from the receiver, in fact, because of the weight.
  20. And what is this infatuation you have with the game pics? BF has chosen what, a dozen pics per side, and you're going to base your theory about unit patches on that?
  21. He's gone on and on about this recently, hence my reply. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just stating facts.
