  1. In the manual, the K98 with the sniper scope is depicted and described as having a 4x ZF4 scope, but the in-game model shows it having the 1.5x ZF41 scope. The G43, meanwhile, has the 4x ZF4 scope. So, with all that said, does anyone know if there is any scope-magnification difference between these two sniper rifles in game? Interesting note here, BTW, about the ZF41: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zf-41
  2. I noticed that when a US engineer squad has not been split into smaller units, it is referred to as a "Pioneer" unit in the info panel. However, when the squad is split up, the newly-created teams are referred to as "Engineer" units? Is this a bug? So far as I can tell, "Pioneer" is more of a European term for engineers, while Americans prefer to use the term "Engineer." If it is indeed a bug it'd nice to get this fixed for the next update.
  3. I tried that, but they still insisted on taking the long way around.
  4. I just had something aggravating happen to me in mission #3 of the Road to Montebourg campaign. In the first two images below, I assigned infantry units to move into these buildings. As you can see, there are doors on each building facing away from the street, which is where I wanted the units to enter: What happened, though, is that the units went around to the front entrance of each building, in the process exposing themselves to far too much enemy fire and getting themselves needlessly killed/injured in the process. As you can see here, there are also doors facing the street on both buildings: So, is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
  5. Agreed. HQ Support units should be able to receive mortar fire missions.
  6. Exactly. I don't have a problem with Panzerschreck/Bazooka teams (whether they be AI or player-controlled) using a round or two against an infantry unit if it feels it has no other options (e.g., it is taking enemy small arms fire), but above all else they should be attempting to remain hidden and waiting for armor contacts.
  7. I remember people saying that an Eastern Front flight sim (i.e., IL2) would not sell well in the West, but of course those assumptions proved to be wrong.
  8. Why is the AI so eager to use the Panzerschreck against enemy infantry? I just played a battle where a Panzerschreck team was well-hidden behind a hedgerow and proceeded to fire off all of its rounds against my infantry, even though there was no armor around. Seems like a waste of limited and critical ammo.
  9. Walking over a plowed field and running over a plowed field are two entirely different things.
  10. Yep, I have a copy of that image on my HD. BTW, the person who uploaded that image (semmern), is a frequent poster over at SimHQ.
  11. If it's any consolation, Steve has said they are going to try to re-work the sounds so that each nation has its own unique rifle and SMG sound.
  12. No problem. The file for the American .30cal MGs is gun 7 single.wav. Others that may help you: gun 7 bar: Browning Automatic Rifle gun 7 assault rifle: M1 Carbine and MP44 (why BF did it this way, I dunno)
  13. And to further muddy things up, these days the U.S. Army has mainly gone away from regiments to brigade formations but in the process has kept the "Regiment" in the battalion's name (such as 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment). The exceptions to this are the Armored Cavalry regiments and the 75th Ranger Regiment. Even then, most of the cavalry units, while officially called regiments, are actually organized as brigades. Confused yet?
  14. Yes, MG34 It's the coax MG on the American tanks, though it might also be used for some German ones.
  15. Hmm, but what about the Soviet weapons and infantry gear? Sure, we all know about the T-34, but I honestly know little about how good their uniforms and webbing were. As for their guns: well, the M91/30 could double as a telephone pole, but the M38 and M44 are very handy carbines. The PPSh-41 seems to have been the best SMG of the war, and the DP-27 seems like it was a fairly decent design.
  16. Well, thankfully your opinion isn't shared by BF.
  17. You can also establish radio contact with a mortar crew by keeping a radio-equipped vehicle next to them.
  18. Yeah, I've read that the thing was quite the attention-getter. That would be great!
  19. No, you set it up just like an artillery request in the middle of a game.
