  1. I've seen it quite often with Pioneer sections. I don't think I've seen it with any other formations. It happens always, regardless of posture.
  2. It's my nature to notice these types of things, as I've been a longtime beta tester for Rise of Flight.
  3. According to the manual, the lowest Commonwealth rank in the game is Lance Corporal. Were there no Privates in the British and Commonwealth forces during WWII?
  4. I noticed that sometimes enlisted SS soldiers will be rendered with the SS officer uniform. Also, there's a texture mapping issue with the collar on the enlisted SS uniform:
  5. I've found the Assault Team option to be the most practical squad-splitting option when attacking objectives. It keeps the close-range weapons and the longer-range weapons in the logically appropriate teams.
  6. Steiner, take your old and tired BS somewhere else.
  7. Yes, and while we're at it, the 3D model of the K98 features a straight-ish bolt handle instead of the correct turned-down bolt handle. This makes it look a bit like a Yugoslavian M48.
  8. Yeah, that seems to be the case. Still, they look a bit odd compared to the other, "full-color" ones.
  9. Bah, this is still not shown correctly in the CW update. Battlefront, please rotate the 3D model for this rifle in the next update. It just does not look correct right now.
  10. It looks like the alpha transparency for these two icons is not working correctly in the mission editor (they show up as simple black-and-white images, as opposed to all the others).
  11. 777 Studios is very open with their customers about what their upcoming plans are.
  12. Steve has said they plan on having a unique SMG and rifle sound for every nation.
  13. I'm going to disagree here about the usefulness of Green troops. They go to ground and cower way too quickly to be useful in either an attack or a defense. On the other hand, I find Normal troops with +0 morale to be a good balance between maintaining their composure and going to ground when things get too hot. Green troops, in the context of CMBN, means troops that are not properly trained for combat. I think too many people read accounts of "green troops" in accounts of WWII and instantly think that means the same in CMBN, which IMO it does not. While many American troops that landed in Normandy lacked combat experience, I think it's fair to say they had been properly trained for their task. Thus, in the context of the game, this is how I correlate CMBN's skill levels to real-world examples (some of which obviously aren't modeled yet in the game): Conscript: Volksturm Green: Ost Battalions, Luftwaffe Infantry Regular: standard German and American infantry formations with no or little prior combat experience, but have received adequate combat training. Veteran: Paratroopers (both sides). Standard German and American units with prior combat experience. Crack: "special" troops, such as German snipers Elite: the best of the best, i.e., the Michael Wittmans.
  14. Excellent work! Any plans for the German uniforms?
  15. To add to what I wrote up above, a lot of what the Soviets chose came down to practicality. The Mosins used during WWII were just slightly altered models from their WWI predecessors. Why reinvent the wheel (in this case your service rifle) when you already have one that works just fine? (The Germans pretty much followed the same logic with the K98. It's just a shortened version of the WWI-era Gewehr 98).
  16. It's like that saying: "Quantity has a quality all of its own." Since we're talking about the Red Army, take their service rifles as an example. The Mosin-Nagant is about as basic as a rifle can be, yet it's very reliable and just as accurate as any other contemporary bolt-action rifle. On the other hand you have the semi-automatic SVT-40. It's a reliable rifle for sure, but it has a lot of internal parts that need to be cleaned when it's field-stripped. Besides that, one has to be careful when taking out the bolt, or one will find that the springs have flown off into the wild blue yonder (as I found out, much to my chagrin). On top of that, the gas system has to be adjusted just right with a special wrench in order for it to cycle correctly, which means that's one more part for a soldier to lose. The Soviets looked at all of those factors (and more) and, in the face of the advancing German army and needing to arm millions of troops quickly, realized the Mosin-Nagant was the better solution for the Red Army's needs. Sometimes the best weapon is not the most advanced design but the one that can be produced quickly, efficiently, and adequately fulfill the task required of it.
  17. Yes, and watch the community fracture into innumerable factions. Seen it over and over again.
  18. Just like in CMSF: when the gun needs to be reloaded, the crewman will open the hatch and reload it.
  19. I'm curious as well to know if there are any differences between the two bazooka models as depicted in the game.
  20. Definitely. This would save a turn or two in turn-based mode.
  21. Add the weird wavy effect seen on the textures when viewing plowed fields from a certain angle. It's a very ugly effect and one I'd rate right up there with the shadows. (And no, mods do not fix this).
  22. I sure do hope the HQ Support units gain the ability to provide radio C2 to on-map mortars. It would greatly increase their functionality.
