  1. Umm yeah, ouch, that hurt. I didn't even come close to winning this one. Once Easy company got stopped cold at the enemy trenches, I attempted a wide flanking maneuver with Fox company to the left (not having a lot of gaps in the bocage didn't exactly help, though). That worked alright (I got most of them to the exit zone), but there was no way I was going to take the village objective with the time left on the clock. Then of course after the mission I saw what awaited me in the village. That, and the artillery was just brutal on this mission. So, for those of you who beat this mission, what your key to success?
  2. When generating a quick battle with Italians, all of them have the last name of "Abc."
  3. Hmm, that's weird. I attempted to use the keys per the default settings, and that's when I saw they were reversed from CMBN. So, that's when I went into the control settings and attempted to swap them, only to find it didn't work. I'll have to give it another go-around tonight after work.
  4. Try as I might, I cannot get the Z key to zoom in and the X key to zoom out. Am I doing something wrong here? I'd really like it to be this way, since this is the way CMBN is set up.
  5. It's the icon for the Blackshirts.
  6. EDIT: nevermind, I figured it out.
  7. I have this one, and it's pretty good: http://www.amazon.com/Hitlers-Sky-Warriors-Paratroopers-1938-1945/dp/1574885014
  8. Nonsense, like so much of what you write on these forums.
  9. The M16 is 1:7. 1:14 would be downright awful.
  10. Steve, just be glad you aren't developing a flight simulator. The type of rhetoric and whining that goes on at some flight sim forums makes the forums here look like a monastery by comparison. I'm close friends with the publisher of Rise of Flight, and some days he tells me it drives him crazy some things people post on the forums.
  11. Steve, one thing I'd like to see in the game is tooltip text for the rank insignia. It's the one remaining bit of information in the GUI that would benefit from having this feature.
  12. The US Army's M16 qualification process is set up so that no hits are required on the 300-meter target in order to pass. In fact, many soldiers I knew would deliberately not fire on a 300-meter target so that they had an extra round for a target at a closer range. And yes, according to official US Army literature, the maximum effective range on the M16 is 550 meters for a point target and 800 meters for an area target. I don't care what Wikipedia says it is.
  13. Exactly Conversely, when MP44-armed soldiers open up at 100m+, they hit their targets just fine, which is what the weapon was designed to do, after all - bridge the gap between slow-firing K98s and the short-ranged MP40s.
  14. Dunno. And, Regular and Veteran troops aren't exactly untrained, which is exactly what I'm seeing this with.
  15. Bumping up an old thread, because I'm still seeing SMG-armed soldiers open fire at ridiculous ranges. The net effect is that by the time you send in soldiers to close-assault an objective, any soldiers armed with SMGs are down to their last 1 or 2 mags. Plus, these are troops rated Regular or Veteran. I really do hope this is tweaked in a forthcoming update.
  16. That, or he's saying, "Sarge, did you really mean for us to set up right here?"
  17. So, does this mean machine-gunners will continue to fire bipod-equipped MGs like they're an assault rifle?
  18. Erwin, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but really, you need to look and to try harder to find what we are telling you was the case during the war. I'll leave it at that.
  19. The Priest shows up on-map. It shows up on-map, for instance, in the Montebourg campaign.
