This has already been discussed to death over the last two years. There is no doubt that plenty of people would buy it, myself included. But Battlefront, and their partners at Slitherine, have decided that it would almost certainly be a bad PR move. However we feel about it, the matter has been decided and there is no point in us discussing it further.

Just finished my Round 2 matches against Atlas Actual.  Had a blast.  Literally.  Actually made a kill with a VBIED out in the open.  Barely.
Great opponent.  Pretty evenly matched if you look at our scores.

I use the slow movement command for vehicles if I want to try and force my way through something and I am not sure I can do it.  Plus placing waypoints as described on either sides of the feature.  That way, if the tank crew decides that it is better to travel 1 km out in the open to get to the other side of the hedge, by using slow command, it has hopefully not yet moved out into a dangerous position, and I can cancel the order and try something else.

There is no auto surrender in multiplayer. This only happens against the AI in single player.

That does ring a bell as I think this happen to me before in the CMBN tourney when my opponent surrendered there.
That is interesting! Are you sure that pic was snapped after the tourney? Because it appears it wasnt as it says above the score " Currently playing" and not the "Ended on" date. Which is what I've seen before. It records the scores correctly but then makes the wrong timed out adjustment afterwards. I've never seen a second change in scores post tourney.
In a nutshell, it appears it treats the person accepting the surrender as quitting or timing out as they cant return another file. In other words, the system cant tell the difference between a surrender and somebody quitting. Hence the timed out penalty.
Also, because I think surrenders do sometimes get calculated correctly. Something that might play a factor is who starts the battle and who surrenders. As in, if I start the battle then I can accept the surrender correctly. Where as if my opponent is the battle starter and surrenders then the system miscalculates it.

I regard pre-planned bombardment of choke-points, fords and bridges as part of doing good map analysis and would expect an opponent to do the same - it is fair game.  So, I would consider it to be sound tactics.

Yeah. You can get away with it against the AI. But they're almost always one of the firs things I shoot at. One of the lesson's from Monty Python's "How Not To Be Seen" is that you shouldn't hide behind the only bush in the field.

I definitely prefer playing against a human regardless of whether I win or lose. Part of the difference for me is the dialog that may accompany a battle.

This is reminding me of why it took me so long to even give H2H a try. I want a challenge. I want to face an enemy with human-like intelligence and flexibility. I just wish there was a way to get that without having to interact with actual humans (I'm not complaining about any of my current opponents, you have all been great so far). The only really satisfactory solution would be a better AI.

    Here is a rudimentary rundown.
you need to set up a Slitherine Account - you will need your username, password and e-mail for PBEM++ (note, I don't 100% remember if it is a Matrix or Slitherine account you need - I think you can link the two in the Matrix or Slitherine systems.  In any event my username and password is identical for both my Matrix and Slitherine accounts so it makes no difference to me) In the game you can login to PBEM++ through the Options Menu but I never do that.  No idea if there is an advantage to doing so or not.  You can also log-in when creating a new battle or playing a PBEM turn or accepting a challenge The PBEM++ Login will ask you to enter your Username, your password and your e-mail.  You will enter all three the first time you attempt login in a CM Game (e.g., CMFB, CMCW, etc.).  You will need to do this for each game.  On subsequent login attempts the game remembers your user ID and e-mail, you just need to enter your password Once logged in you will stay logged in until you shut down that instance of the game. To start a new battle in PBEM++ pick a new battle and side.  There will be an option in the drop-down menu for how you want to play and you will select 2 Players - Automated PBEM+.  If not already logged in you will get the login screen (see bullet 2) If you want to set a password for your opponent to be able to first get access to the game you MUST manually re-select (click on it) the automated PBEM+ option even if it defaults to it on your list (it is called a private challenge).  Otherwise the entry box to type in a password will not appear. You want to set up this password if you do not want anyone you do not know to accept the challenge and play against you. And you obviously tell your preferred opponent what the password is.  This password is only used once so that they can accept the challenge.  It has nothing to do with your login password to the system. Click on Next or OK.  You will now get a password screen for your side like you would normally see for a regular PBEM game.  You can leave it blank so just hit OK.  There is no danger to you from cheating by your opponent as things are protected through your PBEM++ login Click on okay for save e-mail game. Your first turn will now be sent to the PBEM++ Challenges page. To accept a challenge go to Saved Games and PBEMs.  On the Drop-down screen select Automated PBEM++ Challenges A listing of all challenges will appear with the date Username and scenario description.  If there is an asterisk ( * ) in the first character position that indicates a password is required to accept the challenge.  No asterisk means anyone can accept the challenge Accepting the challenge will require your challenge password to be entered in the white box above the accept button which may be greyed out.  The a login in to PBEM++ if not logged in and basically follow the steps outlined earlier.  Once your opponent has done all they need to do and sends the turn back to you it will be accessible under the Saved Games and PBEMs/Automated PBEM++ In Progress drop-down selection.  It will only show save game files that you are personally playing through PBEM++ and that are for your next turn.  Once you play the turn and return the file, it disappears from your list and is removed from your game files folders. This is one thing I don't like about PBEM++, so if you are someone who want to do AARs or videos you need to be aware of this and move the fles to somewhere safe before sending the turn back.  I haven't tried, so I am not sure if you can even replay the turn files later outside of PBEM++ however Slitherine will send you/opponent e-mails saying your next game turn awaits you.  I find there is some time lag on their end getting these sent so if you are banging away a number of turns in an evening, you will probably be quicker just checking PBEM++ In Progress listing frequently.  I think the lag in email notifications is typically on the order of 15 minutes +/- I think that mostly covers it.

Andrew Kulin reacted to SDG in Tank v. tank spotting.. (what a ***** mess)
A lot has been said in this topic.
My issue and the bottom line of my argument is:
I know its a game, therefore there is uncertainty involved which is represented in the form of dice rolls BUT under certain conditions a unit should become spotted regardless of chance. It is completely unrealistic that:
    - in broad daylight;
    - within reasoable distance (900 m is nothing if the crew is using sights with magnification or the TC is using his bino)
    - a not very well hidden/camouflaged tank
    - that is shooting its main gun for several turns
    - while also letting it rip with its 50 cal mg using TRACER (!!) rounds

can remain unspotted while 3 enemy TDs are closely monitoring the battlefield. And no I dont care if there are certain objects that partially obstruct my TDs view and they dont have a perfectly clear line of sight to the target. That tank should at least become detected to that extent that my tds at least have a rough idea as to where to put their AP rounds regardless of not gettin a full view of the enemy.
