  1. On the Homefront, Ukrainian women are stepping in to fill vital local defense positions. One such volunteer group is interviewed in this clip. The Witches of Bucha
  2. We're back on Jan 6 denialism again? Sigh! If you feel the MSM is biased in this regard, there are some credible sites to check out. US Senate Report on January 6 Select January 6th Committee Final Report and Supporting Materials Collection I notice that the deniers always seem to overlook Trump's fake elector scheme as well. A bold attempt to disenfranchise voters in 7 states. Okay, this is Wiki, but there are good references at the bottom. Trump fake electors plot You can ignore the MSM bias, real or perceived, and research this from reasonably credible sources. If you choose not to accept any of this, then, it is on you. Now, can we get back to Ukraine?
  3. I suspect that there are plenty of us lurking about on this forum.
  4. Basing off C# is probably the best approach for new development efforts, especially with Unity. It is still possible to make calls to native mode C/C++ routines when required for those time critical routines so you can still write high performance code.
  5. You'll need to register your BF games on the Slitherine site. See the link to the FAQ that @Centurian52 included in his post above. In it, you'll find a section explaining how to register your BF serial # at the Slitherine site. On either the Matrix or Slitherine sites, just go to My Page -> My-Menu and click on Register Serial, it should present you with the option to select a game title and enter the serial # for that title. Or submit a ticket and @BFCElvis will be delighted to help you out.
  6. I can't speak to how Steam works, but if you purchase from Slitherine, it installs as a normal app, click on the desktop icon and it runs without any agent. The only pitfall is that you're on the hook for running your own updates - which isn't too big a deal.
  7. I saw that mentioned in CNN's review of Woodward's book. I'll leave the Trump-Putin bromance for others to lampoon; the jokes write themselves these days. What I did find interesting in the review were a few excerpts of discussions of what was happening in the White House as it began to look like Putin was all in on invading Ukraine. Apparently, Woodward covers a great deal during the war's early days as viewed from the White House. And this And finally, this A link to the article is here: New Woodward book I might just pick this one up if there is more of the background information on the war.
  8. And now for something completely different. We here focus a lot of our energy on the war itself, but not so much on the people, culture and places of Ukraine and why it is so important that Ukraine remains a free and sovereign nation. The following link is a travel show series, Dare To Ukraine, from the Kyiv Independent where the hostess, Masha Lavrova, travels to various places within Ukraine showing how life goes on in spite of the war. This episode is from Odesa where Masha takes us from a popular market to the famous Potemkin stairs and the catacombs below the city. The series is worth a watch for those of us who've never been to Ukraine. In October, Masha will be traveling to her home town of Kyiv.
  9. The Chieftain did a video with an early Panzer IIIL, no skirts, and those front hatches are definitely only to allow for maintenance access. The hull side exits were removed sometime in the middle of the IIIL production, even if they were there the skirts would hamper egress. That would leave the gunner/loader hatches on the turret sides, I'm not sure if the turret skirts would hinder the hatch doors or not.
  10. I assume that you're referring to the meeting with Trump. Perhaps Zelensky did, as a test, we'll likely never know. - mores the pity.
  11. Yep, I know! This meeting is for publicity and not policy. I'm just interested in the behind the scenes shenanigans that took this from a non-event to an actual meeting after other comments TFG made against Zelensky. TFG is purely transactional, so what is his angle if not for getting in the news cycle?
  12. That will be an interesting meeting, would love to know what really happens in it. I can only imagine the pressure placed on the Trump campaign by pro-Ukraine Republicans to have this meeting. It has been reported the Zelensky shared his "Victory" plan with both Biden and Harris. Hopefully, he'll be careful about disclosing anything he doesn't want Putin to hear in tomorrow's meeting.
  13. There are a number of reasons that the propaganda continued after the war is largely due to the Western allies realizing that Stalin had no plans to relinquish the hold the Soviet Union had over Eastern Europe. They were very keen on seeing West Germany rearmed and an army established. They were also interested in the insight that German officers had in fighting the Soviets - and they would learn all of the wrong lessons. Knowing this then Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and former officers drafted the Himmerod memorandum that essentially demanded the release of soldiers from prison. to include commutation of sentences for war crimes before West Germany could be rearmed. Eisenhower made it official in 1951, thus unwittingly allowing the post-war continuation of revisionist histories that they were spewing during the war that trended towards being exculpatory of any crimes the Wehrmacht may have committed. I suspect that many of us here have a copy of Mellenthin's book Panzer Battles. That is a pretty good example of the result of post-war decisions. The video I posted is only a mild version in comparison.
