  1. Anyone have data/info on the effects on the crew of large HE impact on or close to tanks? One would think that "immobilized" crew is as effective as damage to the vehicle - but is that easier done?
  2. Oooh... Greatly appreciate a new campaign. Thank you for the large amount of time you must have invested in it. (But no KT's... or JagdTigers or even Panthers Dam realism.)
  3. Re your message. I simply did a REPLY TO. But, I wonder if I need to do something else to reply as the REPLY TO goes to forum@battlefront.com rather than to you. Am I replying in an incorrect way?
  4. Hi Blazing. I received (thanks for the heads up) and did one or two REPLY TO's back to you. Did you not receive?
  5. I had forgotten about it. Didn't even know how it worked, so never used it. Must try it, sounds useful.
  6. Apologies: I keep forgetting that many here don't have English as a first language and don't get jokes.
  7. They say the arrestor wire broke again. (They only have one?) The plane ran out of gas while waiting for it to be repaired.
  8. Glad you posted. I didn't realize that "Cobra's Strike" and "Tip of The Spear" existed. I notice that the BF versions are both Betas. Are those the most current or were there final versions released?
  9. "I now owe all of them..." Sounds like a mortgage... Could be a new biz opportunity for BF.
  10. CM2 is very complex and you have to give it all your mental focus as errors are severely punished, esp in CMSF where almost any friendly casualties are a disaster. I play WEGO/ELITE and I regularly burn out quite quickly, and have to play something "easy" like Gary Grigsby's "War In The Pacific Admiral's Edition" for R&R. The objectives you gained then lost but still got points for must have been "Touch" objectives as touching them is all you have to do. If they had been "Occupy" the enemy would have gained the points if they were the last to occupy. CM2 is much tougher re "ownership" of objectives than CM1. In CM1 you owned the objective if you had a preponderance of units on and/or around it. In CM2, one enemy soldier hiding there can be enuff to deprive you of the points. These are good scenarios for training. But, hard as you can't afford losses. When you feel up for it, I recommend larger scenarios like UK Mud Marines as you can afford more losses.
  11. All I wuz saying is "do or die" kind of orders were not common. There had to be a realistic appraisal of what guys could be expected to take b4 rebelling (re western "non-fanatic" armies). And scenarios where you have to win win by having the last man standing bother me - like there is no future. That's why I almost exclusively place campaigns where on has to worry about both unit and ammo conservation.
  12. Really beautiful pic. We are getting closer to providing consumer-priced graphical digital tech that could allow average folks to create professional-looking movies.
  13. Replicates the enemy infiltration into cleared areas. There are some CMSF scenarios that do that and it shows effectively how difficult it was for the troops when enemy popped up in their rear. You have to garrison everything. Friendly Bonus may have been for the Brit casualties, or if you didn't kill enuff of the enemy, or maybe for the re-occupation of objectives.
  14. I don't have CM1 installed on my new system but I remember spending weeks if not months designing an 8Kx4K CMAK map. Actually I just looked it up: max size for a map is 8Kx4K. Do a google. "An operation map may be 8000m along the axis of advance (set in the parameters under ÒAttacker comes fromÉÓ), and 4000m across for a total of 32 square kilometres!..." So, yeah you are both wrong. How embarrassing...
  15. Clearly, you weren't playing the best scenarios or tournaments. I designed a couple huge maps for CM1. But the point is that it's much rarer to see large enuff maps in CM2 where you need to be concerned about movement per the video. That's something I greatly miss in CM2. I think CM2 gives the impression that all combat was at relatively short range and wonder why would anyone want a rifle vs a smg. In reality, rifles were more useful IIRC. And there are few if any missions where one can use an 88mm or Nashorn to their design specs.
  16. Love the little details - like the pipe.
  17. That's an interesting observation for modern warfare where this tech exists.
  18. If you wanted realism, the first several hours of the scenario would be about getting the troops organized. Scenarios currently start at that point when the troops are finally in some sort of order. Not sure what parachutes would add other than eye-candy.
  19. I totally agree that North Africa should be #1. It is such a pleasure to have a completely different theatre, weather and topography. That's what I LOVE about playing CMSF as an antidote when I get burned out onr all the other Eurocentric CM2 titles. After that I miss the capability of CM1 to play WW2 from the invasion of Poland to the end. I understand the commercial realities that made BF start with the end of the war as the US was dominant (in the west at least). But, I question whether the market will be there now for early WW2 game families. I will be surprised if we ever see that era. Very sad... Spec titles could also include Taiwan - altho' that may be more of an air-naval struggle. Air-Naval would also be the most critical arms in a Korea title. Arab-Israeli would be very interesting.
  20. My concern is that if one examines the decreasing number of scenarios, campaigns and mods for each successive CM2 release, we may find that CMSF2 has a tiny fraction of the content currently available to the original CMSF. I was hoping that the current superb scenarios and campaigns could still be used as I doubt they will ever be updated.
  21. Can the "SweetFX shader" be used in-game, or only to make great screenshots?
  22. IIRC satchel charges can clear wire (but not hedgehogs obstacles). Is that correct? I can't recall. Also, I vaguely recall that satchel charges can be used vs bunkers, but I don't think bunkers can be targeted - you just have to let the engineer/breach team be adjacent and decide when to use the charges.
  23. Absolutely. Love the peace and quiet here, heh.
