  1. I monitor CMMODS and d/l just about everything and have not seen such a mod. I am amazed that no one has attempted a Mosul mission with Iraq Army vs Uncons (esp using your xnt Ramadi map). Actually, any mission on your map would be great as it is one of the finest, maybe the finest CMSF map.
  2. Just found this. Looks pretty good. (And I vaguely recall there is a face mod with moustaches etc.)
  3. So, even tho' some of us bought the bundle for all the other CM2 games, do we still get to pay full price for the individual CMFI upgrade?
  4. I just checked Aris' CMMODS link and I see a huge problem with the new CMMODS. One gets access to an enormous list of mods but there is no dating to indicate when anything was made - so it's huge time waster to find out whether one already has a mod or not. Am unclear whether the above new mods are available or have not yet been posted.
  5. I also have a bunch of Oddball's sound mods collected over the years. But, none have any readme that are dated. This should be a big wake-up call to all designers to DATE EVERYTHING YOU DO in a readme or somesuch. As the years pass no one remembers what mod is which version.
  6. Yeah, it's different (a bit more echo/distance) but the MG42 speed is closer to what I have.
  7. An updated CMSF would be wonderful. However, am concerned that existing scenarios and campaigns will work with a CMSF2 as our experience with the WW2 titles is that fewer and fewer user-made content is being made for each new release. Probably, it's just so much work and most would-be designers have burned out and /or moved on to other games. CMSF2 with little content would be a waste. I could see us continuing to play existing CMSF because the game was around long enough that the flush of enthusiasm combined with benefits of experience created campaigns and scenarios that are so well designed.
  8. Astro: FWIW The MG42 sound I use is more of a "BRRP" - one can't tell individual shots. Yours sounds more like MG34.
  9. The MG42 firing should be faster for that tearing sound. I use a mod that does that. (No idea where it's from.)
  10. Presumably the oppo would then target any drones since they have be something valuable below, then one would have to have drones over fake forces to have oppo waste ammo etc. Interesting...
  11. OMG. Must be a friggin' academic. Takes 20+ minutes to explain something that takes 30 seconds. Start watching at 6.30 and you'll know it all in a couple of minutes and save 20 minutes of your life.
  12. I was thinking of the use of expensive support weapons vs low value targets. Not arguing for atrocities vs civilians. However, I believe the decision re nukes dropped to get Japan to surrender quickly to save hundreds of thousands of US lives re casualties invasion of home islands was valid.
  13. Ah, so one unzips them just like a zip file? Thanks... (Why would one use a .man file instead of a zip or rar?)
  14. Using any and all weapons in any situation to win a battle/war is appropriate. However, there is an economic issue in the wider picture. Especially in modern conflicts, we in this game are more than happy to shoot off very expensive Javelins (Wicky: 'In 2002, a single Javelin command launch unit cost $126,000, and each missile cost around $78,000.") to take out very few infantrymen. I know that this has been done. Saw a Brit doc that showed them using a Jav to take out a sniper. But, is this "cost per kill" affordable? Is this really going to be generally allowed by high command in RL situations? I wonder if using such a sledgehammer to kill a nut should have a Victory Point cost.
  15. Xnt show. Wish we had the capability and crosshairs so we could see what the gunner can see.
  16. Just got back and excited re the 4.0 upgrade. But. I read that many had problems installing it and the install process was different for several of the titles(?). Are there comprehensive easy to follow instructions posted someplace b4 I go screw up something?
  17. Downloaded this from CMMODS. It comprises 11 .man files. What are .man files and what does one do with them?
  18. The issue is that in CM1 the level of victory or loss made sense at the end of a mission. In CM2 it's normal to be confused as to why one won or lost and by what margin. I often think I have lost but won, or thought I won but lost. Very confusing.
  19. Yeah, figuring out how to assign VP's seems to be a major challenge for CM2 designers. The way victory calculations were made in CM1 seemed to make a lot more sense.
  20. Very interesting. Am playing WITPAE periodically when I have time so will look for her. Merry Xmas btw. Am off out of touch of phones or internet till January!
  21. Rather than making that a command, one would hope the program automatically has the troops fire for the best possible effect.
  22. Amazed at your creativity. Must be many, many man hours...
  23. Ideally, this system should be made to work for infantry units as well as vehicles.
  24. Have always hoped that CM would eventually have a new ACQUIRE system so that adjacent units (not under fire) could swap ammo under the player's control. There would be a time delay while nothing else could be ordered until the swap/resupply was complete.
