I just wanted to add my congratulations to Mord. I just downloaded this Leviathan of modding, and am very happy with the improved visuals. When I saw the guy in the coca-cola tee shirt it brought a smile to my face. We have seen some pretty strange stuff on irregulars in battlezones! Personally, if I suddenly found myself in the Peckham Peoples' Militia, I wouldn't be wearing anything red, pink, orange or white just to look stylish in urban combat....ouch!  Or is the theory like dazzle camouflage for ships - the brightness puts off aiming?

Been away for a while... Decided to drop back into CM:BS with the excellent Wrong Turn at Albuquerque scenario.  Dragged the Russians into a real slug-fest since I didn't get my Javelins into good covering positions.  I found my M136s far more useful.

Though a Bradley at close range is a real threat to T-72s!

This thread is woefully lacking in comments and praise so I thought I'd drop in (haven't been around much) and give you a hardy slap on the back and raise a stein in your honor. I can't use the RvT stuff yet but I can admire your pics and as always, you deliver. You are one of our preeminent talents, who has pioneered the modding of the CMx2 series as much as you have given us beautiful, quality work to enjoy. So, I hope in some way this gives you the inspiration to keep doing what you do. From one modder to another I salute your talent and artistry! Fantastic job, umlaut!

Base game portraits are finally finished. A lot changed. They are up at CMMODS.
As it stands right now there are 2500+ portraits for the module version of this mod (which isn't done yet), and just over 1200 for the base game.

    Have fun.

Ok, seeing that the main focus is RT at the moment, it's time to migrate this from the General Mods Forum.
Anyone interested can catch up here:
    Refresher:
    Old vs new portraits.

    The new portraits together.

Their context within (JuJu's awesome) game UI.

@Badger73 "These are stunning, @Mord.  I might quibble with your choices for Heer Panzer and Heer Panzergrenadieren.  I thought German army tankers wore a black coverall of sorts and a tanker's beret.  I think the German army armored infantry should have steel helmets.  I look forward very much to your finished work.  Good luck with this."
Ok. Well, it didn't take long for one of them. I am fairly confident this one is a keeper. I am pretty happy with the way it looks and the way it fits into the rest of the design.
This German panzer commander strikes a gallant pose, a fitting nemesis for the awesome Soviet tanker (which happens to be one favorite portraits).

My guess was that it was a possible mod tag, but if it's a stock campaign the only way that would happen is what you suggested (which never occurred to me). I completely forgot that unis can be assigned in the editor! I was baffled how a tag would've got there. DUH! Good call!

Bad day at the office.  After getting knocked out by a panzershreck the crew of an IS-2 bails out.  Then on board ammo causes a secondary explosion while an MG42 takes them under fire from a second floor window.  Cool game.

Mord got a reaction from Bubba883XL in Fallschrirmjager Uniform for theatre
If there are say five variations of a uniform, each a different color, Black, Red, Pink, Green, Orange, and you wanted all uniforms to be Orange, you'd make four copies of the Orange uniform and give them the names of the Red, Black, Pink, Green files.
EX: You really like tropical uniform 2
    smod_german_lw_para-tropical_soldier_uniform 2
you make four copies and make one "smod_german_lw_para-tropical_soldier_uniform"  "smod_german_lw_para-tropical_soldier_uniform 3" 4, then 5.

There are five variations in the mod you down loaded. Now lets say you found another mod and liked that one just as much. You could rename those files and add them to the one you are using. Ez's FJ unis end at #5 so you'd rename the new mod sequentially "smod_german_lw_para-tropical_soldier_uniform 6"  "smod_german_lw_para-tropical_soldier_uniform 7"   "smod_german_lw_para-tropical_soldier_uniform 8"  without the quotes of course. Then you can use all of them from both mods.

One thing to always keep in mind is the numbering, some files don't use the number 1, like the para unis they start at "smod_german_lw_para-tropical_soldier_uniform" then jump to "smod_german_lw_para-tropical_soldier_uniform 2". There's no hard and fast rule so just pay attention to the files you dl and you'll start to catch on. If you are on Windows I highly recommend exploding the brz files and exploring them some time down the road. You'll learn a lot from them.

You don't need a Z before any of your folders. I explained what the Z Z Z folder was for in my post above.

When Combat Mission is started the game will load ANY graphics/sounds etc. that are in your mod folder to temporarily overwrite the original game files. It will always do this as long as there are files in the mods folder to use. The highest letter of the alphabet always takes precedence in the loading order. So, if you have TWO mods and they are in folders named "Panther A" and "Camo Panther A" the one titled " Camo Panther A" will always be chosen over the other because C comes after A in the alphabet.

What? Install folder? As in the folder you extracted the game installer to?
I set my installs to all go into a Battlefront folder in My Documents to keep them all the same (may be different for other people). Anyway your mods need to be in the MODS FOLDER regardless of where your game is installed under USER DATA. Something to this effect, CMFI/USER DATA/MODS.

Been ruminating on this possibility since RtV was announced. Been thinking about it hard since it was released. After I finished up the FI portraits it really started eating at me. So, I asked sburke to send me some RtV files the other day to do some testing. I actually gave up once and was gonna write him and tell him what I had been doing and that it had failed but I decided to try again. Still didn't get there and stopped. Figured I give it one more shot and all of a sudden....12 years of wishing is finally fixed. Not perfect but the best we've had since SF1 was released.
@Zveroboy1 You've got some updating to do.
@mjkerner yeah, you. something for you to try.
    @Sequoia it's finally happened.
I give you the Muj for SF2!
NOTE: They need to be modded. They aren't gonna be perfect. This was just a test to see if it could work. I need a better mask to get rid of the chin strap (anybody have one?). I just wanted to show you guys because I have wanted something like this since 2008 and I know some of you have too.

Gotta use you imagination and visualize what could be accomplished. These will by far be the best models we've had. Imagine colored head wraps, different colored beards, vests, etc. A lot can be done!

Yeah, I mentioned the chinstrap in the notes of the first post. I figured out the mask was using the wrong color (worked in RT and older mods). Fixed it with all black bmp.

Here's a quick, dirty look at changing the colors of the beard and head wrap to give you an idea of where it could go with a more talented modder than me.

NOTE: There appears to be a spot on the left shoulder where the textures don't line up due to the Indian skeletons being different than the Syrians.

All the files you need are here, basically a template to get some Muj modding started.
