Elvis, if you threw some bones in here they wouldn't get so off topic.

The Battle of Tukums: A Campaign Design AAR/DAR
Back in 2013, Jon Snowden collated an extensive collection of material detailing how members of the community could jump into the editor within a CM2 era title and design a scenario from start to finish while building a stock scenario for a pending release. That manual currently sits on all of your hard drives if you have brought anything from Battlefront or updated a title over the last half a decade as it’s included with all your installers.

What the Kiwi started, the Aussie is subtly encouraging you to take the next step and select the ‘Make Campaign’ option inside the editor. True, not everything that is bigger is necessarily better, but have you seen the size of New Zealand*.

This will definitely be a ‘module’ added on to the ‘base game’ book that was created by Jon all those years ago. I will not be covering old ground about how to make a map and creating AI plans. I strongly encourage you to take a look at that manual if you haven't already. Even after all these years I need to double check a few things from time to time.

Finally, everything below will vary from just factual explanations through to subjective opinions based off my own personal experience. Of course, there are alternative approaches out there so please explore. I’m just putting this disclaimer here because, well, this is the internet.
    * Honestly, at times part of me wishes I was living in New Zealand. Cooler weather, funny accents, better internet connection... I just don't understand the fascination with rugby.

I for one welcome the potential influx of new forum members. This forum could do with some fresh blood, otherwise it runs the risk of getting stale. And frankly I find the cliquish attitude a bit sad. Yeah some are going to complain about things, so what? New players also mean new interesting tactical or historical discussions, potentially new contributions in the form of modders or new scenario designers.

The other day, I saw this in another thread. It’s exciting to see someone discover a new front, and a new game.
But I would never have thought the eastern front could be described as “easy!”

    Easy?

I am a stalwart supporter of BFC, been playing the games for longer than I can remember. I made a modest contribution to the development of CMFI some years ago.
Yes, waiting for the patch has been unusually testing, but this game system has so many facets that even though I played less I still had a lot of fun making maps and designing scenarios, not to mention fun testing them.

These guys are a small team of extremely dedicated enthusiasts. They give 100%. I still haven't found anything remotely approaching their product for the kind of game play I appreciate. I have total confidence in their judgment and integrity. And I don't begrudge them for one minute the long gestation of this patch, or the confusion over exactly when it will be released.
Thank you Steve, thank you Charles, thank you everyone else who put their time and effort in bringing these games to us.
I've gone through a rough patch that has lasted nearly ten years so far. If and when I get back on my feet, I will be glad to lend a hand again. I hope it will be soon (can't give a precise date though... sorry, I couldn't resist that :-) ). In the mean time, I don't mind saying that playing your games has often been the only source of fun and relaxation for me, and a good way to avoid going mad during the long spells when real life got held up in limbo.

On a related note - make use of the full installers for your install process on your new computer. In other words download the full installers for the latest version of the games you have purchased. That will be much less painful than starting at an early version and updating things step by step - especially for CMFI and CMBN.

"Digital only" is just the download version of the game
"Disk only" is no longer an option
"Manual only" is the digital download and the physical manual is shipped to you
"Manual and Disc" is the digital download and the physical manual and disc are shipped to you.

BFCElvis got a reaction from CharlieMike24 in CMSF2 getting a splash screen with just the tank firing in the dark? Here's why.
I've gotten some tickets on the Help Desk where people are getting what they describe as either a back screen or just the Battlefront tanks firing with the black background. This happens when an element (or more) of the Upgrade is not activated. To cure it (or avoid it) follow these activation instructions:

Installation and activation instructions for the Combat Mission: Shock Force 1 Upgrade:   1) Download the game, extract the download and run the game installer.   2) Use the desktop shortcut labeled Activate New Products and enter the key that came with your CMSF Upgrade purchase.   3) Use the Activate New Products shortcut and enter your original Combat Mission Shock Force 1 base game key   4) If have purchased any of the module Upgrades use the Activate New Products shortcut and enter your original Combat Mission Shock Force module key. Repeat will all module keys.    You can actually activate these bits in any order that you want as long as each piece is activated. It's just the OCD in me that lists them in the order above.   Here's what it looks like:
