Bearstronaut
I honestly don’t think this detente can last for very long. Prigozhin has to know he’s a dead man sooner or later.

sburke
it is all still a big win for Ukraine. Russian forces are in disarray and the infighting is only going to get worse. I expect Putin is going to want another purge of anyone associated to Wagner. Morale for troops on the frontline has got to have gotten worse and once it is clear that even if Shoigu and Gerasimov aren't in charge, the RA still doesn't have a plan, what then? Also the fact that Wagner could move around pretty much at will has got to have Putin freaked, so what does he do now to try and secure his position? And what of the Wagner troops, really think this was the plan all along? What happens to them now?

But he could not do in a normal way through resignation as they did nothing wrong (they did what he told them to do). Hence the performance.
kluge
It's now nighttime in Moscow. Could it be the case that the convoy(s) planned on stopping around this time regardless? I'll believe it when the sun rises.

Let's hope it will just have some internal consequences for russians. Problem is - they will most likely replace shoigu and gerasimov with Wagner guys. And those are far more competent.
akd
Consider how many units now have to be repositioned to protect future internal security of Russia. Probably Kadyrovites won’t be seen in Ukraine ever again.

Maybe Prigozhin negotiated placing Wargner in some form of reserve role for the time being. Rest and re-fit. That’s a lot of troops to pull out of the line. But perhaps with rotation he might become God-like to his workers. Sure a few nightclubs would love the cash.

Not sure what is Prigozhin thinking here, but let's see what he does not what he says. This is my thought as well. Too much display of regime weakness, especially because Prig now gets credit for forcing change and Putin only did it because the barrel of a gun was aimed at him. If this were a Putin move he should have had Prig's guys "mutiny" in place, not march on Moscow. This would have not shown the regime itself to be weak and totally inept. So I still am calling this a coup. Plus, it is NOT over. Prig has only agreed to stop moving on Moscow. He has not ordered his guys to disband, pull back to some base, or anything like that. This is akin to what Putin would have done in Ukraine if Zelensky had given into negotiations; Russian troops might stop moving and fighting, but they would be sitting there getting ready to act again if necessary. FancyCat
Warlords....we have been acting like they must toss Putin from power, but it's not exactly clear cut as that, as any usurper would lack any legitimacy domestically or internationally. Legitimacy matters for the normal functioning of state, from which the money flows for the powerful. If Prig can toss his enemies in the MoD, ensure his power and authority increase, he doesn't need to overthrow or kill Putin necessarily. Will he need to look around for knives? Sure but I feel like he understands that and is fine with it.
