But that's it, isn't it? It's all in Putins hands. He can still save what can be saved, but he probably won't. Time is running out for him, so he has to 'go deeper'. The West should prepare itself for that. The pragmatic Putin we all came to fear (and sometimes 'admire') doesn't seem to exist anymore. Now that is something to worry about.

And what can we do if he decides to try to force victory with tactical nukes and chemical weapons? Despite the present euphoria in the West Vlad still has some cards to play. I bet he will survive all this. A new even more North Korea as somebody in this thread called it.

Chemical weapons are simply not fit for use in a war like that in Ukraine. Russia would have as hard a time dealing with them on the as the UA would given their lack of maintained NBC gear, their lamentable logistics and the depth of Ukrainian defenses.

Use of tactical nukes would create similar problems in the field and make a direct NATO intervention imminent. It would also completely isolate Russia internationally and likely trigger a complete trade embargo. Also...say that Russia used a nuke on Odessa the the Ukrainians simply refused to give in? Politically, I don't see how Zelensky would or could. In that situation, Russia will have committed an unforgiveable act, would have to take all the heat it would entail and it wouldn't be any closer to winning the war.

Here what yesterday our General Staff scored as +1 ship - looks like small landing craft pr.11770 "Serna" was hit by Bayraktar, when it was disembarking SAM system (Orix claimed this was TOR) on Zmiinyi island. Double kill. TB2 also hit facility on the ground

Black Sea Fleet has two pr.11770 landing crafts, year ago from Caspian flotilia to Azov was moved several crafts of this project, but I forgot how much. Caspians have four Sernas

Situation with attack on Admiral Makarov still unclear, RUMINT source from Sevastopol says about 30 ambulances drove from the Sevastopol port after frigate turned back. Russian TG in own messages also tell there is strike had took place, but damaged ship successfully tured back. Ukrainian official military speakers keep silence.

Best part was, that Tor was active (you can see search radar spinning).

Agreed. Someone posted a good video from the Hoover institute in the past couple days where they discussed the nuclear option. The consensus with the retired generals was that it didn't make sense as they don't produce a win. The tactical ones wouldn't solve any issues and any use, especially strategic, not only doesn't decide the conflict but actually makes it worse for Russia in the eyes of the world. The best part though was they pointed out the response from the west doesn't have to be nuclear. Especially after witnessing Russia at war their confidence in an overwhelming non nuclear kinetic strike was high. I think the message to Russia is you can certainly send a tac nuke, but you will be trading a lot of your ground forces, most of your air force and the Black Sea Fleet for it's use. Add that to the analysis by Perun that was put up here a few days ago and I just don't think nukes are on the table for anything more than hopeful bluster by Russia.

The one place I would not be surprised if Chemical weapons were used though is Mariupol. If and when the RA manages to control the ground of the Azovstal area I could see them using chemical weapons to clear the bunker/tunnel system instead of trying to clear it by assault. Probably be the most effective way of doing it however I think the backlash would be just about as bad as using a nuke. The western popular voice would be very condemning. It is one thing to use chemicals against military units on a battlefield, which no one would like, but it is a whole new level of evil/mass murder/war crime to use them against women, children and wounded in a bunker. It just strikes me that that sort of thing would cause a louder cry for action than even Bucha and the other war crimes have.

What strikes me most about this mural is that they managed to turn the towing pintle on the end of the barrel into an artillery bayonet.

Is there a Russian Resistance?

I will rather believe in UKR SOF/ agents, recruited by GUR than in "Russian resistance". Anti-war moods, of course, exist in Russia, but only on the level "Why was all this war need? I lost a tickets to Paris and my Instagram doesn't work - I have panic attacks and depression!" Well, four times in different cities enlistment offices were set fire. But railway war...

It also seems like they aren't concerned with stopping the war completely. The translation of the email as shown in that thread:

"We demand:
- Release Alexey Navalny @navalny  and other political prisoners.
- Withdraw forces of the 249th Separate Special Motorized Battalion "South" of the North Caucasus District of the Rosgvardia and SOBR "Akhmat" from the territory of Ukraine.
- Removal of Ramzan #Kadyrov from participating in the command of the special military operation in Ukraine.
- Refusal to announce general mobilization of Russian citizens to replenish the special operation forces.

Russia will be free!"
(END OF TRANSLATION)
"

Assuming it is real, why would they want only those particular units withdrawn?

Brother, I guess I've ended up as your last friend on here. It is a gaming forum and I cut you some slack personally as a good contributor to the community. But you are just living in a looking glass world right now, defending something that is just not worth defending.  I mean Russia.

As a 'leftist', you need to be aware that your country -- Mother Russia or the Last Hope of Socialism or Christianity or Whiteness or whatever you call it -- is simply nothing special in the world today as a polity, a gene pool or a civilisation.

Sometimes I think that people here write not to me, but to someone else. "Defending Russia", really? Who cares? Not me. It's amazing that you (not just you, everyone, who started arguing to my statement about effect of Balkan war) really think that I do care about your opinion about Russia. (Not because I don't care about your opinion at all, I hope you get the point)

People think that Chinese and Russians badly understand each other. Unfortunately Russians and Europeans don't understand each other at all. You can understand letters and words, but not perception of yourself, of country, of history. And that is more important than hieroglyphs.

That's for sure, despite the fact that I understand Russian letters and words, I don't understand Russian at all. Apparently I'm European😆

Russians have been channeling NK really hard for years. Hope their dream comes true and they will get to live in it forever.

And I don't mean that as a bad thing. As you know - we, Europeans, do not understand how Russian thinks.
