A Canadian Cat
Sorry things have been quiet. We hit a snag. The build that was supposed to fix the Sikh models and textures didn't quite get things sorted and left Bud dead in the water. Such is how software development goes sometimes. Both problems are being worked. In the mean time enjoy some of these cool shots I took of the Sikh soldier's that were fixed in the latest build. These were taken on a hazy overcast day in July. Yes, they are firing from the vehicle, sometimes they have their leg out other times inside. They need to prop themselves up against something. Occasionally you get a goofy model merge but usually its either inside on a seat or internal divider or outside like this example. Warts 'n' all
The whole series is good. But, I think you saved the best til last.

Yeah, I remember the first time my pixel troops fought from inside their Bren carrier. I was so amazed I don't know how many times I watched the action unfold. To this day it is still one of my favourite things to see in the game. I especially love it when the do it on their own. Note half tracks are cool too but the Bren carriers are still my favourites. When it happens it usually means something has gone terribly wrong in my planning and it often does not end well for my men but it sure is glorious to watch - especially the odd time they come out on top in the fire fight.
Warts 'n' all
It certainly was a wonderful surprise when I first saw it. Which I imagine was the first time I took a wander down the Scottish Corridor.
General Jack Ripper
On 9/18/2019 at 9:50 AM, IanL said: I think this is a result of the enemy using TRPs. They clearly have one near the woods opposite the town but do not have them in the woods on the hill at KT3. Any time the scenario briefing includes the words, "The enemy has had time to prepare his defenses," or somesuch one should assume there are TRP's straddling any obvious approach routes, or atop any key terrain. While it may be a bit cold-blooded, one can try to provoke an enemy barrage by moving a few split teams into a likely area, and seeing if they draw artillery fire without risking a larger formation. I am all in favor of having the enemy waste precious ammo on a single squad split into teams, then having them whack an entire platoon.

Way back during the road to montebourg, I had a split infantry team steal the XO's jeep to get back over to their buddies down a road. While driving, they spotted a German team close beside the road in a hedge. Every single passenger in the jeep stood up and began blazing away. That was awesome.
A Canadian Cat
Quick update from me. I am moved into my new place. By moved in, I mean we are all here and there are beds setup and lanes between the boxes to move around I am sitting (you are right I should be unpacking) here waiting for technicians to arrive to install some plumbing required appliances and my network panel needs some sorting. So, I am still not in shape to play at the moment even though Bud is back up and running and sent me a turn. Stay tuned and the fun will resume shortly.
A Canadian Cat
Minute 0:47-0:46: B Company heads back their observation / jump off points in the woods near KT3. On KT3 observers arrive again. And spot something new – another Stug. This time slightly to the right of the first one. Meanwhile 2 and 3 platoons from A Company are still mostly out of my command but no more artillery falls for the whole minute. A Canadian Cat
Minute 0:46: Orders One of the tanks under the artillery thinks it has seem more fortifications. But it cannot get a LOF to the area. The observers call in the air support over the town KT6 and the hill KT7. We can let the fly boys take their time getting here and do their worst while my infantry deal with the outer defences. The air support will take 11 minutes to arrive – no need to stay exposed for that time... Since there are other targets to shoot at the Support company HQ will head up to the same spot. 3 Platoon has recovered enough that I can give them orders. They are getting tired so they will move through the woods. The last platoon from A Co that is in good order will try to move to the left and see if they can spot more of the enemy positions. Supported by some tanks.

A Canadian Cat
Minute 0:46-0:45: On the right the enemy barrage continues to fall well in front of my men. My Observers pull back from the edge. The tanks watch the infantry head into the woods on the left.
A Canadian Cat
Minute 0:45: Orders On the left I have scout teams push forward carefully. Also some infantry move forward in the woods. Checking the status of the Air Support whle the mortar HQ moves forward to get eyes on another target. While organic mortar teams setup to shell the known 88mm AT gun position.
A Canadian Cat
I know you guys have been waiting patiently for updates. I am sorry I have not been keeping up my end. Hopefully that has changed and I can get you some thanks giving updates. There is some bad news though (and not the reason for my not posting that was me being crazy busy and tried out) the reason for not showing you closeups of my infantry has not been resolved and it will not be. Such is the life of beta testers - sometimes there are bugs that get baked into the game saves. Normally we just live with it for a short time and then throw the old files away and start new ones but we cannot really do that for the AAR. I'll have more later - first I have to get the backlog of pics posted then I will explain more and talk about what I will do to mitigate this problem for your enjoyment

A Canadian Cat
Minute 0:45-0:44: This minute is fairly quite with some good intel. My mortar team starts landing shells in the trench. Hopefully that keeps the crew of that AT gun occupied. The scout team next to the mortar team spots something else lurking behind the buildings – an SP AT gun. The enemy is under their own barrage. On the left of this image you can see a shell has landed behind the hill. On the right in the same tree line is an enemy fire team. They are probably not very happy with Bud right now. MG fire coming from the hill causes a casualty in my Mortar HQ team. The infantry on the far left are moving forward again. This is the view from the enemy's position.
A Canadian Cat
Minute 0:44: Orders The Mortar HQ team starts their call on the spotted Stug and then backs off to cover for the wait time. I am going to need another mortar team to deal with that SP AT gun so I move 4 Platoon over so their mortar can engage. It is clear that on the far left my infantry are not far enough forward to see anything. Their orders are to move forward to get a better view.
