Rolbahn D, second battle, Leaving Lanzerath.  Falschirmjagers on the move.

The German's camo is rather effective in this environment...

I just love taking screenshots.  It's like a whole niche "photography" thing.  CM plays into it so well.

So as far as mods go, it's not going to happen as far as BF is concerned. Okay that's okay. I'm not anyone who could crack anything other than an egg. I still would like to see BF do something with the middle east an the epic tank battles that took place, that all. I'm 62 years old and maybe it will never happen but one can only hope.

Well, yeah, but I was field artillery, not a maneuver type. But in artillery school we had to learn all the mech stuff, then when I arrived at the 82d had to learn the Airborne way. There used to be a joke (probably still is) that it was the 82d Airborne Army, because we tended to have so many of our own procedures, tactics, organizations.
When you get right down to it though, Airborne units are light infantry. We just arrive in style. 😀 (and probably better trained and higher readiness than average).

StG44 easily on par with an AK47.

Recently purchased CMFB and don't know why it took me so long.  Just some shots from my first battles...
I'm stunned by the firepower of Volksgrenadier units.  Those STG-44s really give the Germans an upgrade.

It almost feels like modern era...

It's like CMBN...but NOT.  The different terrain, season and weather, equipment, and bigger map sizes make this feel so much closer to RT for me.

I'm loving playing the Americans in the Bulge.

    Falschirmjagers!

I anticipate that folks will become tired of dense urban combat as it is very hard to control or even see one's units in a dense urban environment.    We have several large city maps  available for d/l , but it's notable that very few scenarios have been made for them.

you are seriously giving me two campaigns and 13 standalone scenarios for Red Thunder, summer of 1944, for $10?  Hell yes I am in for that!  Order placed!
Hopefully it will be here to coincide w the start of the rainy season.  😃

I've been using OvGME for the past few days now.
It's very nice, UI is much better than JSGME (from what I recall), it was easy to set-up & does make swapping around a lot easier.
You can even save profiles & keep your mods zipped if you want.
The only thing to remember is that it's the contents of each particular mod folder which are sent to CM's Z folder.

badipaddress reacted to 37mm in Initial 'All in One' modpack
One of my ongoing side projects (aimed, mostly, at the new influx of Steam Players) is to host an 'All in One' for every CM game here.
This is my initial effort for RT & its primary feature is a large collection of weathered vehicle mods (by @kohlenklau, @umlaut  & @Aristoteles ) renamed & tagged so that they now work with F&R. It also features terrain mods by @SeinfeldRules, UI mods by @rocketman, @Marco Bergman & @Volksgrenadier, Infantry mods by @EZ, @Tashtego & @Ithikial_AU, loading screens by @umlaut, building mods by @Kieme(ITA) & @Tanks a Lot as well as the ME effects package, ME soundscape & (subdued & fixed) superpack voices by @ironsturm plus many more others.
I know a lot of people had issues with their old RT mods & the new Fire & Rubble module so hopefully this modpack will be of some interest to them.
Here's a taster of some of what you can expect...

Hull down is not the be-all-and-end-all and needs to be used with care. It will work if you take these into account.
    1) if you plot a distant hull-down waypoint over unpassable terrain tiles (water, heavy forest, etc) bad things will happen.
    2) if gunner vision is obstructed when you reach your hull-down position (bushes, fences, foliage, etc) the vehicle will just keep going until it finds another hull-down position or it reaches the destination point.
    3) its dangerous to do in mid-battle. A moving vehicle has lower situational awareness and is easier to be spotted than a stationary vehicle. The enemy will spot you moving into position and try to hit you. If, on the other hand, you get into position and await the oncoming enemy you'll get the first shots off and return fire is likely to impact the ground in front of you.
    4) Hull down is not a protective force field. After a couple high and low near misses the incoming rounds are going to find the gun mantle.

Issuing a Hull Down command is a two-step process. The first step is plotting the movement. Using the Hull Down Command you plot a movement path usually a short distance past where you want to be hull down because you have to be able to trace direct line of sight from the end of the movement line to wherever you want to be hull down to. That lets you do the second step which is clicking on the waypoint at the end of the movement line and Targeting (or Target Briefly, doesn't matter) the spot you want to be hull down to, same as if you were plotting area fire but in this context the tank won't shoot, it's just how you tell the game where you want to be hull down relative to. The tank will then stop moving when it is hull down to that spot or it reaches the end of the movement line, whichever comes first, but if you do it correctly it should almost always stop prior to the end. But if you don't Target from the endpoint the tank will treat the Hull Down movement command like a normal movement order and drive the full distance every time.

"Follow" command that works in terrain or on roads, and duplicates the waypoints for each following unit so adjustments can be made.

No, neither is actually the case for CMx2. Even the fastest per-core speed processors are limited on CPU time, not disk throughput, for CMx2. Don't give people bogus purchase advise.
DCS for example is the other way round. Without a (particularly fast) SSD you want to strangle it. So SSDs are useful in the general case, just not for CMx2.
