    This is one of @MikeyD's scenarios - it was a very early one and typical of the stuff that he seems just to be able to conjure up.  It was the first scenario I tested and it was a whole bunch of fun and delivers that nail biting sense of 'am I going to win this?', despite the map and premise of it all being fairly simple.  I think for those aspiring to dip into scenario designing, his stuff is well worth a look.

    After a few starts on a campaign and feeling overwhelmed (but in a good way), I decided to try learning these units' capabilities by getting overwhelmed faster, 'failing faster' they call it. Instead of agonizing for 10 or 15 minutes over a turn's orders, I'm playing some single battles in RT mode, but saving and even reloading if i reeeeeelly mess up. I'm having fun discovering how they move and shoot, and enjoying the spectacle. Usually I prefer to play turns because I like to watch the action, see the little things hitting each other, and replay it from other angles. All the pretty lights. I miss a lot of that in RT mode, but I think I'm learning more quickly how to maneuver and shoot with these units than I was learning when playing turn-based battles.
    I think I'm about to be overrun, at 2 Fahrbahns, but it only took a couple hours instead of days. I'm enjoying this a lot. All the pretty lights. My 5 tanks have smashed about 10 of their AFVs, mostly T72s, using a fat slow 152mm round. Feel like I'm tossing flaming marshmallows at the bears. Sometimes, they hurt the tank. Sometimes, they tickle them. But 3 T72s are passing through their dead pals' smoking wreckage, Lord knows how many more are behind them. They're hitting my tanks and mostly degrading them (like a mobility kill or optics kill) first, missing often but eventually hammering my tank one more time for the kill. Been rolling up to hulldown, shooting, and reversing, held them out to 1500 m so far, at 26:36, but I'm down to one fully crewed tank and one that lost its commander. They all fought bravely. An immobilized tank took out several more and held back a few with great shooting till it finally got the zap.

    At this time I finally realize that 2 M150s have arrived. Just about to rush them into position and trying to back my 2 remaining tanks downhill till these TOW carts can rush up to help. No one's come within range of my Dragons. My Redeye guys have taken some shots, and taken some hits. Because it's RT, I didn't see whether they ever downed a plane. All the pretty lights, though.

    Ok, so as promised, for those that might be interested here is the scenario that Bil and I played (consider it bonus content) so you guys can see in detail how this whole thing went down.  I am also attaching the last couple turns from the Soviet side so people can see the final layout when we ended it.  Password is "rochette" (don't worry I don't use it anywhere else...and she is our dog).  Up front this is not a finished or official scenario (so no briefings or such), nor is there any AI, strictly H2H.  But if you guys want to recreate the fight, have at it!  Are you a Bil, leading his capitalist swine to their inevitable doom?  Or are you a Capt, who led his men to a glorious victory for mother Russia (unfortunately only a few get to enjoy that fact)?
    Note: the map is Dollbach Heights, a Pete Wenman original (seriously with this whole crypto art thing, this map might in crease in value over time).  The bare map is also included in the Master Maps folder, for aspiring designers.  Finally if you do want to play as is, I would highly recommend turning Blue EW off, as the Soviet arty is really neutered currently.  Enjoy.

    It falls in the middle. There is a unique feel to the game. yes the AT weapons have some of the late war feel, but there is also more limitations. There is some things that have more of a WWII feel in things like tanks taking time to fire and having to make more than one shot to get range. You will find it is its own beast as to how it plays and the match up between forces are much more even in many aspects than other periods.

    So my advice is to always try and offer your opponent dilemma.  Particularly if you are the attacker.  So here maneuver become extremely important, try and come at the opponent from different angles simultaneously (90 degrees is very good).  The pull up multiple shooters at the same time, here you are leaning on the weight of your firepower, which as the attacker is normally heavier that the guy dug in.  Then if you have support (arty or air), you should try and time its arrival with all of the rest of this.  
    In the end, you wind up with a system overload situation on your opponent.  If you try to do onesy-twosy sneeky peeky they will sit back and pick you off one by one and you are right the attacker is at a sever disadvantage here.  If you have no choice but sneaky-peek, use the M901s, the periscope system works so you can fire without exposing the vehicle, that and the little guys are wicked accurate.

    I hearted this because it reminded me to say how happy I am I was able to have a Mac version of the game. It makes a huge difference to me -- I'm surrounded by Macs anyway, no PCs of any decent gaming spec. Very grateful, as a Mac gamer, for Battlefront's work.

    It depends, as all things complicated.
    General rule, the newer the tank better it does bottomed up.
    It is situational, unbuttered does better close by and with wider field of view. On the other hand if the commander seat has thermals and there is smoke in the line of sight it is far better to be bottomed up.

    They can be, but its still two OS versions "under the hood" that would need be installed and downloaded separately. They do share a Steam key, however - which is appreciated by people with both operating systems. One purchase.
    The BFC CM games that Slitherine does production for on Steam are currently Windows only (as far as the compatibility icon goes on Steam, at least).

    One question though. I see I can buy a Mac version from battlefront - but on steam it only shows the windows version. Therefore I infer that only people who buy the windows version are eligible for a steam key - correct?
    If so, it should probably be made explicit somewhere.

    Just to get a flavour for the game I loaded the biggest free standing battle, Rumpenheim Rumpus.  I didn't change any of the dispositions, as I was just planning to play the first turn or two as the US forces, and watch the show.  Three hours later.....  Great scenario, and easy to play as the Americans.  Nice job guys!

    Do Patton commanders get best vision with open hatch, head in the free, open German air, or down inside using thermals? Can't work out if they have that kind of thermal, or something they would use whilst unbuttoned. Thanks.

    Mods can delete or if others need to know, in your compatibility part of the launcher system icon. Check "High DPI Scaling override" in compatibility tab.

    This is an old Apple problem - they make it difficult to install software unless it's from one of their 'preferred' developers. Presumably they expect to be paid a backhander by the developer... 😕

    BF doesn't go for Apple's approved developer status (or whatever it's called). Steve I believe has said it's too cumbersome. This isn't the only software I have that is like this. Typically very small developers or one man shops (some of the others of mine are astronomy apps) who interact very directly with their community, so trustable.

    Jajaja I always play with the bright option turned on. I cannot imagine having a meaningful fight with it turned off. But I can see why you would prefere to play in the dark, it would be out of character if you didnt
    Also, glad that I could help. That mission was definitively harder than the rest of the missions that until that point the campaign lobs at you, but they definitevily do not get better. I am now playing the mission before to the last and it is really a slog. Good luck in those missions, and I hope you can do better than I did! (Which considering the number of destroyed vehicles I had in the last mission, it will be not that hard XD)

    Mark, I recommend start with the END GOAL in mind. I have a project that I know you can do and you'd love to see it in the game. But to keep it secret and avoid any pressure, I will PM the idea to you and we can still do the "monkey see, monkey do" here in this thread...
