  1. You hear it from the expert about the .50 Cal MG. It makes noise and frightens people away.
  2. Why do you think they made 600000 jeeps during the war?
  3. I just wonder why in CM the indirect fire assets are immune. We can always make our own, there could be a map with hexagons so there is room to maneuver. Just use CM to the areas where the close action is. MBT can engage now at ranges where the sky meets the earth and beyond. It is only tactics and no strategy. Yes, even MBT's could be off map. Challenges of the game. They could make a strategic game which can generate QB's. Not all of us are expert on the editor.
  4. I am not here to argue with a veteran, I just go by what I researched. I never seen a T72. It was not my point at all. . U.S Army tankers were, and still are, recruited to a 95th percentile standard with a 183cm (6'1") official height limit. Soviet tank crews were recruited to a 50th percentile (average), standard, with a 175cm official height limit. Keeping in mind that the 95th percentile for Soviet men is not the same as the 95th percentile for U.S men, and that smaller men were usually recruited for tank crews, the hatches on the T-72 were not only of an ideal size for a Soviet tank crew in light clothing, but were even adequate for winter clothing. 5. The moment you stop in the open you're history. That much I found out playing this game, shoot and find a different location. We have no reference maps either, imagine playing with 50 TRP's per 1km². I don't think it would be much fun. We would soon have a system like the NVA fight from tunnels.
  6. It was a clever idea; you get to an alternative fire position quickly. To reverse for the final set up is not much of a problem.
  7. Radar was used for counter artillery in the 60's. They could pick the shells in flight and compute the counter artillery. @Lethaface that's where the tactic shoot and scoot originated from. Till now they don't apply this in Combat Mission. Flying Command Centres aka AWACS woud make the game one-sided.
  8. Not that bad if you screen recruits for medium built 175 cm in height and not 6'6 gym junkies.
  9. A Hollywood War Movie Formation is a Purple Heart Formation. In regards @MikeyD picture, I know they wanted to frame every actor.
  10. @RMM Welcome to the game. He was previously shaken or may even have panicked and now he recovered into a 'Rattled' state. Which will be permanent. I can suggest a tactic for you, Ammo bearers will be the first in position where the ATG, Mortar or HMG will be. A great way to check LOS. I don't think it is a bug but the way the game operates and sometimes we just can't override the TacAI with our micromanagement.
  11. We don't have scenarios that we attack the fire bases for artillery. I wonder why for this for example the 25 pounder had an effective HEAT round to protect himself against tanks. Then there was the Battle of Mirbat 1972 in which a 25 pounder was operated single handedly in the direct fire mode. I would like to see scenarios in which artillery can be attacked.
  12. Minesweeping T34's should have been in RT from the beginning. Soviet Storm. WW2 in the East - Operation Bagration. Episode 11. StarMedia. Babich-Design - YouTube
  13. Exhausted you recover from, but he doesn't recover from being Rattled. Rattled is the last condition from which you can plot waypoints and fire orders. My experience is your luck is in the hands of the Tactical AI. Rested Moral OK with a +1 or +2 motivation the Pixeltruppen follow the players orders. In real life the amusing incident happened 40 JS2 pulled up in front of a suspected Pak75 mm position. Indeed, the Russians were correct there were 2 Pak 75 mm there however for some reason the guns didn't dare to fire. This is the sort of situation the game mimics. Another example I never plot a fire order for a 'sniper'. Small cover arc at the position the sniper had a full contact with. During a replay 6 turns later I saw a Red Cross. Replayed again heard a single shot yes, the sniper had now one round less. Trust the Tactical AI more than yourself and you never look back.
  14. If his partner run off, was it a member of the crew? If that is the case the ATG is abandoned and disabled. It doesn't say it in the game and is confusing. Rattled probably has something to do with it. To make him obey anything you must have an HQ nearby. After Rattled you have Shaken and Panic then you don't have any control at all. It may matter what level you play. I play at Iron in which you see instantly of your HQ is in visual contact of his men during the replay phase.
  15. Carl Gustav but the US didn't use them, I think. Effective range of 500 meters.
  16. Use them as assault guns in the area of operations on a typical map the enemy is 'under the guns' so to speak. I could use the German 75mm light field gun in an indirect fire role. On the maximum elevation of 45⁰ behind a single-story building. Here is where mortars come in.
  17. Thinking about it. The Germans used 9 mm x 19mm for their MP40's the same round the Commonwealth used for their Sten. You can't scavenge 9mm x19mm from enemy units. Take them out of their magazine and put it on your own. Easy to say for us just how do you write the code for this?
  18. I want to play Blunting the Spear with Engine 4 but they have been swinging Fire and Rubble for some time now. I am not in a hurry for CW as it is incomplete. With a little nostalgia go back to my Dutch roots at least they have it in Battle for Normandy 2 in FB and in SF2.
  19. With the HE he must belong with the same unit. If there is no other crew near the AT gun it is deemed to have been abandoned and disabled. You can't rejoin ATG's. With the 9mm well I wouldn't share my rounds either in the middle of an engagement.
  20. Already 35 years ago. Always welcome to stop by if you come again. Fremantle is the Port and closed for now. It means seamen can't leave their ships. In 1985 I was in the Pilbara region of the state. If you know Photoshop, you will take to Affinity like a duck to water.
  21. I use Affinity Photo I paid AUS$55 for it last year. No subscription it is yours! It will open PS files too with layers included. As good? I found Affinity Photo better.
  22. I forgot there is no need to sign up. Just try before you give away your details.

  24. Correct Shoot and Scoot was and still is an artillery tactic to avoid counter battery fire. You use for example mortars in APC's that way. The moment they fire their position is known and even 50 years ago their trajectory was picked up by radar. It can be used by any other AFV to avoid going to be shot at.
