Frenchy56 got a reaction from nik mond in Question about Fire?
It sounded like you were dismissing it because it was inferior to Combat Mission. Just wanted to clarifiy for other people.
Armored combat is well done in that game in my opinion, and the infantry AI is more independent, however it can lead to some stupid stuff happening, especially tight spaces. Ground deformation due to artillery is also a plus, it actually has trenches/foxholes that go under the ground and field guns are less laughably ineffective than in CM.
If you like fighting across Ukraine's great plains, Graviteam would suit you more. If you like fighting through cities, bocage or more wooded areas then Combat Mission is you jam.
I do admit that I own all of Graviteam's releases except Steel Fury and Achtung Panzer, but I've been playing Combat Mission more because it has better quality of life and infantry models (the ones in Graviteam and Tank Warfare are sometimes so trash I can't stand looking at them).

Well, how much money do they have then? I doubt they run on the same economy as monks in an abbey. (I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't far from that however)
BF is already quite lucky to have so many testers free of charge from a solid, yet small community.

By the way, welcome back EZ.

I can't see how he's got OCD if my Red Thunder "inaccuracies" thread has some issues that are glaring. But then if he really did have OCD we probably would have seen Red Thunder only last year or something, hahah.

Nailed it. There's also the Fallschirmjaeger campaign.
There's also no official British, Canadian or even Kiwi campaigns right now. That really should change.

I think we should call you "that guy" now.
That guy who digs up a 6 year old post to take a dump on a 6 year old scenario.
By the way, some arguments would be nice. Personally the only big problem I've found is that the scenario's time limit is too short. But that can easily be edited.

Frenchy56 reacted to John Kettler in Great CMRT period war pic segment
This clip is overflowing with martial goodness: Panzerfausts, StG44s,flare pistol, MG-34, ZIS-3, T-34/85, tankodesantniki ,Su-76M Beutepanzer etc. Especially notable in the clip is what Russian military writing calls aktivnost, or combat activity by the soldiers. Here, it's the Germans exhibiting it, and it's quite the thing to see. The only oops I saw was that the Russians somehow took really early delivery on a small arm. Other than that, this looks like something perfect for a CMRT fight. Commenters took exception to Su-76M Beutepanzer, as did I--until seeing the contents of link. Clip's from "The Adventure of Werner Holt."

Well, I was talking about how their neck becomes looong when the animation plays.
I won't deny the dope though.
I'll have that in mind for next time.

I think that's something you just don't casually mention on a videogame forum. It'll will lead to more harm than good, you can see that.
Anyway, nice to see you back.

Frenchy56 got a reaction from Bubba883XL in Fortress Italy bugs
Hello,
You may have noticed this already, but there are a few very noticeable graphical bugs in-game:
All StuGs after the StuG III G (earliest) and StuHs have their spare track textures bugged.
Sherman II (mid) tank commander stands too low while buttoned out
I confirmed that no mods affect this by moving the Z folder out.
There should still be a few, but these are the most noticeable ones.
I definitely hope these were noticed and will be fixed in the next patch.
EDIT: I remembered that Sherman III commanders stand too far right of the cupola, thus their right arm clips through the turret. Might affect other British Shermans as well.

Frenchy56 got a reaction from General Jack Ripper in Fortress Italy bugs
Sure, it's not a big gun especially compared to the 17 Pounder and M1 76mm gun, but how do you justify this:
Right, I shouldn't have posted anything without confirming it. It does indeed act the same way on any floor.
I had only gotten the impression since I placed 2 MGs on differing floors and one started firing much earlier than the other, which was still deploying.

Let's use photographic references to get a feel.
When I saw the 6 pounder gun in-game for the first time, its size was definitely jarring for me. It's absolutely not supposed to be smaller than an M3 37mm AT gun, and it's not even the same size as the M1 57mm in-game.
If all you need is to feel that there's a difference without having to take a ruler out and take measurements, there is definitely a problem.
Looking at these pictures tells you that the other guns are definitely better-proportioned.

Here's the Pak36(r). As you know it's the captured version of the Soviet F-22 Divisional Gun, which was in fact bigger than the ZiS-3, which itself is bigger than the PaK 38.
I may make a new thread as well to point out that the Soviet AT gun models in CMRT are quite wonky as well.

Frenchy56 got a reaction from CMFDR in CM New MG34/MG42 LMG animations
I was honestly a bit annoyed by CM's rendition of the Germans firing their LMG's with one hand on the barrel, so I saw that US soldiers in the modern games seemed to hold the M240 closer to what a German GPMG should be.
So I swapped some files and voilà:
Here's the download link:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/vb8xtrx2j0mciau/mg42_anims.rar/file
Install it by unzipping it into the Z folder inside your data folder. Create it if you don't have one.
It should work for all CM2 games.
Let the spirit of the MACHINE GUN be with you.
