    Actually, I tried them out.
But in the end came to that conclusion.
Elsewhere, it was said that the beauty of CM is the WEGO/Movie.  I usually play with many things on.  But often watch the movies with much turned off.  As I have programmable game controls, I flip this with one key stroke.
I think being able to see into trees is more important in RT games where you don't have the above luxury.

    What is that?
Steve has posted before on this, they know and appreciate their customer base is a niche market. Though selling more product than they expect is always a good thing they also know roughly the budget they have to work with.
<Economist hat on and a quick google search because it's my lunch break and I'm lazy> In economics, productivity refers to how much output can be produced with a given set of inputs. Productivity increases when more output is produced with the same amount of inputs or when the same amount of output is produced with less inputs. <Hat off>
Never assume having more people on staff means you will produce more. Anyone who's worked for an organisation with 100+ workers and a dedicated Human Resources team knows this first hand.

Growing larger is risky - not a guarantee.  Just as many companies go bankrupt from getting larger as are successful.  That plus I don't think the people running BF want to become business managers any more then they have to.

Its one of those situations where, show me that it happens all the time before I get worked up about it. If you can show it happening at some type of unusual rate, then its something to worry about.
One time is , wow that was cool - move on.
I had a lone survivor on a heavy machine gun, pinned, suppressed and being fired on, manage to return fire and kill at least 30 assaulting troops on his location. The bad part of all that was I was the assaulting side of the situation.
Should it of happened per game mechanics. NO
but it did, it was one of those moments where the game did a unusual thing. (it was a medal of honor moment) it was pretty cool actually.
Has the game ever done it again in the years that have followed, nothing even close.
Move on and drop it unless this is a reoccurring problem.

Based on the very limited details you have posted here is what I think happened in your battle; your AT gun spots an enemy StuG and they determine firing at the StuG is a bad idea. I am going to assume a frontal shot with a 57mm AT gun has a low chance of penetration, so better to stay still and make every effort to appear nonthreatening and keep out of harms way. Unfortunately for them, the StuG spots them and fires, killing the team leader and another crew man. Thankfully the StuG finds a new target to aim at and leaves the rest of your crew alone. You don't state the StuG moved away but only that it stopped firing on the AT gun, an important point to keep in mind. Now, a Flakvierling opens fire and begins to send rounds at the AT crew. Remember they are hard wired to stand their ground and stick to their guns because once they run away, there is no coming back. You state in your first post the crew is rattled and not pinned so their only hope for things to not get any worse is to take out the threat facing them. A regular leader would probably say the StuG is still right there, if we open fire, we are dead so keep your heads down boys. But -2 Stevie Screwup forgets all about the StuG, he knows his 57 mm can one hit KO a Flakvierling and if he knocks it out, the suppression he is facing currently goes away. Again, remembering he is hard wired to stick to his gun and not run away, he makes the only right choice in his mind which is to turn and fire at the Flakvierling, attempting to knock it out and making his suppression go away.  Stevie doesn't think ahead to the next turn and what will happen to him when the StuG opens fire again, nope his -2 means he can only think about the here and now and so he makes his decision. As a regular "skills" crew man he has been under fire before, if only briefly, and the adrenaline rush of coming under fire once again and the desire for revenge for his fallen teammates makes him forget all about getting hit himself and focus only on knocking out the threat. It might be the wrong choice in the long run but right here, right now, it is all -2 Stevie can focus on and it works out for him. In his mind it is the right decision because the suppressing fire has been eliminated and for now, he is safe.
That is my take on what happened. You seem to think the outcome should have been different. What do you think should have happened and what evidence do you have to support your reasoning?

Sounds like you have the right idea.  Start small (infantry platoon) and add stuff (weapons platoon, engineers, fortifications, armor, artillery, air support, etc.) as you gain experience.  If you don't mind reading, the game manual and engine manual are good sources of information.  There are all kinds of topics here on the forum you can run searches for.  And ask questions here on the forum.  A friendly, helpful group here that will answer your questions.  And for every question you have there are probably a few forum lurkers who have similar questions but don't want to log in and ask.  So you help them too.
I don't really remember what's in the CMBN demo.  But one thing I've done is load up a scenario or quick battle in Hot Seat mode and just practice.   With no pressure you can move troops and vehicles around.  Experiment and learn.  Find drills and SOPs that you think will work.    Set one side up with a few fire teams defending a crossroads or terrain feature.  Then take a platoon from the other side and secure the crossroads.  If you play both sides yourself you can better observe what's going on (ruins the fog of war but that can wait until your done training)  Use the replay feature as often as necessary to understand why something happened.
When you have questions about something come back here and ask.  Welcome to the war.

    Very well said Vet 0369
That is basically how I looked at this thread.
We live at a time where there is people that have no patience and all of their thoughts are self centered.

So this thread is a perfect example of that.
Person likes the game, wants more of the game and is not getting more of the game fast enough for their personal wants. - Thus there must be a problem and that problem must be from the source of who makes the game. They need and must do it faster.
Never in the process of their thinking is there a care or concern about that source or how it would impact that, the thought is focused on getting more faster, nothing else.
Never does the thought cross their mind that the method presently being used is what is already creating the thing they enjoy so much.
They have no respect for the efforts of others if it does not meet their perceived needs.

The sad thing is, their view does impact things and how people view this company.
But what is even more sad, I am sure this trait is impacting their life in more aspects than what we see here. I am sure their frustration  with life is constant.

I tried to interest a guy on Youtube a couple days ago (he had a video about his Marx WWII play set) so I figured hey CM is toy soldiers all the way. Dude pretty much completely ignored the part of the conversation that involved links and info on the game. I was like WTF?! That's right up your alley, man!
Had another guy tell me he wasn't really interested in CM when I brought it up because the engine was getting old. This statement was posted under his video about the update of John Tiller's Panzer Battles. I didn't even bother to respond after that ironically moronic statement.
I guess I must be getting old. Earlier today I sat and marveled at the fact I'd just turned a lamp on and it produced light. LOL. I think I got lost in thinking about it for about five minutes. I find being truly thankful for the (seemingly) tiny things enriches your life just as much as something like a new car or a vacation can. There's a quote of mine I have been repeating for about 20 years now: "Give me a brand new Bic mechanical pencil and a clean sheet of paper and I am happy". If you can find joy and contentment in the little things you'll always appreciate what you have and not worry about what you don't.

    “Patience is a Virtue”

I recently listened to a news report that said how societies are becoming less “virtuous” because many have no patience. The study attributes it to our modern “conveniences” such as cell phones, laptops, tablets, computers, and most importantly, the internet. “We’ve” (notice the apostrophe that indicate this is a contraction for we have) become so used to instant gratification, that we get stressed when we have to wait for a stop light to change, or for a walk light to cross the street. I grew up in a time when the F-51 Mustang and F-4U Corsair were still front line fighters, and the P-9 Panther and F-86 were developing jet fighter tactics in the Korean conflict. If you wanted to read the “latest” book, you walked or rode your bike to the library. I was a teenager when jet-powered commercial flights became viable for the masses, so we developed patience. I remember setting for one or two hours, patiently untangling a bird’s (notice in this case, the apostrophe indicates possession, the nest of the bird) nest tangle in my fishing line because the the only alternative was to cut the line and lose half my line (as an impatient person would do) that would mean that I’d have to buy a new line, which I couldn’t afford.
What has this rambling have to do with the thread? The BFC staff and owners are patient. They are not rushing pell mell to create content for sale, not caring if that content is correct, accurate, or as free from bugs as possible. While we are all free to “suggest”changes and “improvements” to the BFC business model, NONE of us know anything about the specifics of their decisions. “We” are nothing more than the children who constantly whine “Are we there yet?”
Take a break, sit back, and play a scenario that you haven’t played yet. BE VIRTUOUS!
    A previous poster sardonically questioned some word usages;
Loose - the opposite of tight (My trousers are so loose that they fell down in the middle of the mall.)
Lose - the opposite of win, or to misplace something (I hope the New York Yankees lose the next game to the Boston Red Sox. They might if Mookie Betts doesn’t lose his edge)
Whose - generally used as a possessive for a group (The council, whose responsibility is to manage ....)
Who’s - possessive for an individual (That loose woman who’s dog peed on my trousers on the floor of the mall ....), or the contraction for “who is” (who’s going?)
While a spellchecker can be a buddy (I actually consider it a crutch for the lazy), a dictionary is your best friend. I was a technical writer for more than 30 years, and used a dictionary for that entire time, unless I knew that the spellchecker was correct.

FM 7-5 Infantry Field Manual 1940
The usual limits for war strength units with flanks covered by other
    troops are indicated as follows:
    Unit Frontage in yards
    Squad.....................50-75
    Platoon------------------100-200
    Company------------------200-500
    Battalion----------------500-1,000
    Regiment---------------1,000-2,000

These figures are just a guide line for a full strength unit in good terrain conditions. There are some excellent responses in this post that point out the various aspects that affect the possibility of obtaining a frontage of these distances.
