  1. Was there mounting or dismounting of a vehicle involved with this incident? I had two troops from two different squads wander off the map edge in October 2015. Their two squads had been ordered to board trucks. One troop from each squad ran off the map edge and kept going. I was told, here on the forum, to hit Dismount on both trucks. I hit Dismount and the troops ran back and rejoined their squads.
  2. You start by purchasing a large unit. Example: Panzergrenadier Battalion Motorized. After you purchase the large unit it will show up on the right half of the screen. Click on the + sign next to the unit to show all the sub units. To delete a sub unit click on the sub unit to highlight it. Then at the bottom center of the screen two gray buttons will appear that read Delete and Rename. Click delete and the sub unit up above will be grayed out (deleted). Then the delete button turns into a revive button in case you change your mind. Some HQ teams can't be deleted since you must have a chain of command. I just deleted the above mentioned Panzergrenadier Battalion Motorized down to a Company HQ team and one platoon HQ team. At the very bottom left of the purchase screen there are also options for setting the experience, motivation, fitness, leadership and appearance of the entire battalion and / or individual squads and vehicles. Equipment choices are available in the very bottom center along with having mortars on map or off map etc.
  3. Yes this works. My SOP is to give troops in or on a vehicle (when I think the vehicle may draw fire or become immobilized due ground conditions) a movement command so if the vehicle stops before the destination they get off. My dilemma is usually if I should give the troops a Hunt or Quick command. On Hunt the troops will stop movement near the vehicle. On Quick they will run away from the vehicle until the turn ends and I can intervene. Both have advantages and disadvantages depending on the situation. Slow could be another option I guess........... might have to try that.
  4. Yep, that is how it was for me. I finally gave in and did the upgrade so my old laptop and new desktop would have the same operating system. As sburke said it was a simple switch to make and no real problems so far. But just enough people report serious problems, like Wodin, to keep me a little paranoid about it.
  5. That is a scary thought. I just switched my old computer over to Windows 10 and the new one came with 10. CMMODSIII site has most all the mods you need and then some. I had to get a bunch for the new computer. The Windows 10 thing is a PITA however.
  6. Hmmmm, I am trying to remember ..... it was very similar. Instead of all apps I think it was called programs. And then the same. They are in the same location as the read me files, game manuals etc............ Hope that helped.
  7. For Windows 10: Click Window Icon bottom left corner, Click All apps Click Battlefront, Scroll down to Check for Updates, Click on Check for Update. If you own multiple games multiple Check for update icons will be present. My problem is after upgrading to Windows 10 all the check for update icons look the same.
  8. You are correct sir. Face command first and then Pop Smoke. I think if you give the Pop Smoke command and then the Face command the Face command will cancel the Pop Smoke.
  9. Thanks. I had to google it but the smoking snake story was interesting.
  10. Nice. Reminds me of a micro armor game from back in the day.
  11. I think it was delliejonut that posted the below table showing the purchase points for Quick Battles in the WWII titles. The purchase points in CMBS is different from the WWII titles: CMBS: Attack Tiny 3,343, CMBS: Attack Small 5,614, CMBS Attack Medium 9,475, CMBS Attack Large 16,037, CMBS Attack Huge 27,193 etc..... At least within the WWII titles the QB points seem to be standardized. 12. Using the Pause command will work. The length of the Pause depends on the experience of the engineers. (Also paratroopers with demo charges I think) Veteran engineers take 10 seconds to Blast. Regular 15 seconds. Conscript 37 seconds. If they are taking suppression the times will go up. The advantage of Regular engineers is that their Blast time (15 seconds) and the 45 second Pause command come out to a full minute. Then you can cancel the their movement through the just created breach.
  13. Which is the preferred BMP to include in one’s TOE? From the game manual the BMP-3M sounds like the better vehicle. However, in the Quick battle purchase screen the BMP-3M with ERA is cheaper than the BMP-2M with no ERA and the same soft factors. I would expect the newer designed vehicle (and with ERA) to be more expensive. It makes me wonder if I am missing something and which BMP other players think is the best. On the Quick Battle purchase screen I found the following purchase points for the different BMPs. Soft factors of - Experience: Regular, Motivation: Normal, Fitness: Fit and Leadership 0. Vehicle Points Rarity BMP-2 199 0 BMP-2M 265 0 BMP-3 216 0 BMP-3M 247 0 BMP-3M ERA 246 246 BMP-3M ARENA 280 1,400 BMP-3M SHORTA 259 777 I had been using the BMP-2M in PBEM games. I am thinking of switching to the BMP-3M ERA. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  14. During a PBEM Meeting engagement I found buildings with missing walls. I have CMBS version v1.03. QB meeting map 257.
  15. As IanL said if you can bypass the building that is probably a good option. I try to pick out the buildings that are key terrain and level or bypass the other buildings. I think it was RockinHarry who posted about the advantage of clearing a building top down. I did some experiments with this concept and it worked. So as LUCASWILLEN05 said above if you have buildings that are attached (row houses or something) you can get to the top of one and work your way across the roofs and clear down. Below is my current TACSOP. I am always updating my TACSOPs so suggestions are encouraged. 1. Split Squads: Assault split, AT split & base remains. (In CMBS you will only have Assault and base teams) 2. Order suppressing teams and assault team to Target area fire into the building to suppress/kill the defenders. (may take several minutes) 3. When OpFor is suppressed give suppressing teams Target Light orders. 4. Leave assault team with Target area fire into the building. 5. Fast the assault team one action spot from the building to throw grenades. 6. At the grenade throwing waypoint give the assault team a 10 sec. Pause order. 7. Quick assault team into bldg. while suppressing teams continue to Target Light. 8. Give the assault team, at the waypoint inside the building, a 360 degree Target Arc to cancel the Target area fire order. Below are screenshots from CMSF of a building assault.
  16. Welcome back Michael!!! Good to see you posting again.
  17. Beautiful screenshot. This could be printed out and framed.
  18. I have gotten into the habit (probably bad) of referring to all "?" icons as sound contacts. Tentative contact is a more accurate term and I will attempt to use that in the future.
  19. I finally got back around to running a few more experiments at longer range with Target Arcs & the Hide command. Below are the screenshots of US teams hiding with a Target Arc. When OpFor teams enter the Target Arc the US teams un-hid on their own and opened fire. (Approximately 300 meter Target Arc) A second test with the OpFor walking in from 1000 meters. The US teams held fire until the OpFor was inside the approximately 200 meter Target Arcs, then un-hid and fired.
  20. Even got one to surrender for the camera. Nice work.
  21. Does this only work as intro and splash background sounds? Or does it work in game when an aircraft is making a bomb run. If it works when an aircraft is making a bomb run will it sound for all German aircraft or just the Stuka?
  22. I think that conversation was in reference to cross loading squads in a US Bradley platoon. In RL a complete squad does not fit in a US Bradley as it does in the game. A BMP only has a two man crew. The driver and the gunner. The squad leader sits in the commanders position and has use of equipment for spotting. When the squad leader dismounts with his squad the commanders position is vacant and spotting ability for the vehicle declines. If a third troop is loaded into the vehicle he will take the commanders seat and increase the potential ability to spot (I imagine the soft factors of the troop in the seat come into play). The smallest element you can split off the squad is a two man team so I send the two man scout team back in the vehicle.
  23. I like it and look forward to more. The floating icons seemed ......... strange. Like the Brits had axis icons and the axis had allied floating icons? But the TTP demonstration was good.
  24. The things people will do to get the holidays off........ Hope you are able to recover soon and to 100%. Take it easy, stay at home and play lots of Combat Missions.
