StieliAlpha reacted to sburke in Red thunder and Covid -19
That is some logic.  If everyone gets the virus at once, the hospitals get inundated, respirators are already in short supply - result LOTS more people die.  Health care workers that would be needed to treat folks are sick.  The mortality rate for Corona virus is well above that of the flu even by conservative estimates.  In Italy the mortality rate for older folks is close to 19% (overall rate is estimated at around 8%)  Flu rate is around .1%.  Might want to spend a little more time reading up on real facts.  The panic etc is in good part due to our leaders spreading false information and our response coming so late.
The social distancing that is being encouraged has one major goal - to spread the infection rate over time to allow the health care community to manage the influx - that's it.  It won't stop the virus, but it might keep our healthcare system from collapsing and therefore keep more people alive.  The alternative and the result of what you are proposing is every country becomes Italy - the comparable death rate in the US if we go though that is about 18,000 people in the space of 6 weeks. (had to correct that, googled the wrong info)

Honestly, I don’t think the Warsaw Uprising is an appropriate topic for CM, as it is not designed for asymmetrical conflicts. In this special case, there are too many “non-miltary” aspects involved.

I found a quite vague reference in Wikipedia, saying that “not all newly formed FJ Divisions did receive a jump training after 1942“.
As for the Gebirgsjäger, I don‘t think they were all „skilled climbers“. I would assume they were generally „skilled mountain men“. It takes a lot, before you need to „climb“. It’s difficult enough to move in the mountains with heavy equipment anyway. That‘s not to say, that they did not know how to use their ropes...

And I hope, I have them, too.
But @DougPhresh has a good point. Is there a „complete“ list of mods somewhere? I have seen some  scenario and campaign lists, but don’t remember anything for mods.

I believe to remember, that a long time ago one of our CM friends with practical experience said, that action in CM is in general about 4x faster than in RL.
Such acceleration would explain an increased effectiveness.

StieliAlpha got a reaction from Aragorn2002 in The Unknown Soldier movie
Ah, no,  rather buy it for the few bucks it costs. The series (not so much the movie) is pretty good and well worth the money. I am sure, @Aragorn2002 would support me.
And, alas, somebody has to support “non Disney” productions..

I just came across this yearly tank show of the „Deutsches Panzermuseum“ on You Tube. Strange, I never heard about that show before. You’ll find many interesting video clips about it on YouTube, like this one featuring a Pz I “in action”:

In another clip, I saw a German mine sweeper on a Leopard chassis, which I have never seen before.

I agree, the guys on the wrong side of the wall should not happen. Same as many other graphic glitches. Like tanks driving miraculously through trees. Or showing the tank interior, when the tank is in the sectional plane of the view.

Hm, I referred to Gettysburg only.
But coming back to the OP, I tend to say, what we see in CM is an approximation only anyway and not intended to reflect „reality“ in all aspects. I.e., the guys on the wrong side of the wall, are an illustration for whatever could go wrong in the situation. E.g., somebody sticking his head out too long, or a part of the wall crumbling, etc. It certainly looks awkward, but wtf?

Well, the terrain is difficult, the weather at the time of the year is difficult, the weapons are more deadly than in the earlier games... So, yes, I guess there are some factors to make life difficult.
But than, I hate Panzerschrecks hiding in the Bocage...

We were stumbling through a pitch back forest, until one of the guys “found” a trip wire and started an amazing show with flash-bangs and fire from all sides. Would have been a very short adventure in RL...

StieliAlpha got a reaction from sburke in Is there anything that comes close to the CM games?
    Yep, Mord describes it nicely.
I used to have a nice pic’ where a Wasp killed a Sherman from 70m distance. And you could see muzzle blast and impact on the same screen shoot. In the same game a lonely guy with a MP defended a street crossing for ages. Hm, probably more like minutes.
Of course, I would have dozens of similar stories. But you should rather experience your own.
For me, in such moments CM shines.
Though my nephew laughs at me, when he sees the graphics...
