Yeah, that is a tough spot to be in - a long wait. Those of us that play any WW2 game have lots to play and those of us that do modern too are crazy busy and have lots of content.
Branch out man - join the party

If you only play one game, it may seem a long time between Christmases, but CMSF came out in 2007 and in that time we've had:
    CMSF, + 3 modules
    CMBN, + 3 modules and a pack
    CMFI, + 1 module
    CMRT
    CMBS
CMSF2 (that's been loads of fun!)
...plus 2 more modules on the way apparently quite soon.
That's 14 games and modules in 12 years, plus 3 upgrades. That doesn't seem too bad. I've had plenty to play with, although I'm looking forward to the next 2 modules.
I mean - I could wish for more, and there have been some quiet spells, but all up it's still kept me more engaged by far than an any game I've ever played.

I have all the games except Afghanistan and I play them all. I've played many scenarios, a number of campaign, but I mostly plays QBs against the AI. After all these years, CMBN is still my favourite.

I love Combat Mission and enjoy playing it, despite some of the quirks and bugs. There have been certain bugs that are a little annoying and have persisted through all the patches and updates for a while:

    1) The facing backwards bug - enemy forces face the wrong way. This still crops up. When you spend ages choosing interesting forces, tweak the map a little to make it look more exciting, and then the Panthers are facing backwards, it's a little disappointing.
    2) The limbered AT gun bug. AT guns are limbered and trundling along like infantry - I think this is because too many QB AI plans have most of the enemy hiding in a corner then rushing out for a big ol' turkey shoot, which is a quirk, rather than a bug, but is also annoying.
    3) The stuck-in-a-hedgerow bug, or stuck next to a wall. There is a workaround for this bug - you shoot the little b#st#rd who's stuck. Works great, but you have to use a tank.
The bug-out bug, where the troops run in random directions, often forwards, doesn't bother me as much as these other ones.

    No it will be worse.
Sometimes we suffer casualties we don't expect, I strongly suspect it's just a product of the random element of the game, rationalise them how you will, or don't.

It's an excellent scenario - I played it twice, first H2H, then against the AI.
I can't remember the precise outcome of the H2H battle, but I remember it was exciting and close. It's an Italy scenario, so as Allies I was aggressive and used weight of numbers. I probably lost (which is not unusual), but I do remember it was very close.
Against the AI (much more recently) it was also fun and exciting, with high casualties, but it wasn't too hard to get a total victory against the AI. I seem to recall it was a real combined arms operation. Using artillery was quite important, and once there were a few gaps in the German line or they were suppressed, there were some blind spots I could push men through.

Nailed it. There's also the Fallschirmjaeger campaign.
There's also no official British, Canadian or even Kiwi campaigns right now. That really should change.

+1  THIS.  @benpark.  The community needs scenario designers and you are one of the best, most knowledgeable designers.  The occasional negative comment when not backed up by thoughtful, constructive criticism should be kept in perspective.  Thank you for your hundreds (maybe thousands?) of hours of great scenario design.

I've been playing this since 2000, so I know how long it's been around.  Lots of excellent, long-term games on Steam.  DCS World, Squad, all of the Graviteam games, Battle Academy 1 and 2, Order of Battle, the Total War games, and my current favorite, Frostpunk, which cost me $22 CDN.  There's also the Civilization games, and the newer IL2 games, which are excellent.  Need I go on? I also love the Dirt games (Rally - $10, and Dirt 3, which was free on Steam) and Euro Truck 2 and ATS, which cost me a grand total of $36 with all DLC.  Picked up both FC3 and Black Shark 2 for $42 CDN in one of the sales last year.  Don't know if I'll live long enough to play them all!
Unfortunately for small developers, Steam has raised expectations on price and discounts.  I can't believe how many times in forums I've read that $19 is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!  Crazy.  Same argument goes on over at the Steel Beast forums, although they have come out with a much more palatable pricing format of late.  Battlefront releases excellent demos.  Graviteam and Eagle Dynamics moved to Steam...not sure how it's working out for them, but they can take advantage of the 'impulse buyers' like myself that seem to collect games just because they're on sale 😀  Do I play all these all the time?  No, don't have the free time with a wife and 2 kids.  Is this game worth it at the price?  If it's all you play, maybe.

Admittedly, I've been a good a good customer over the years - I think I've bought all the CM games, modules and packs except Afghanistan - but this price is insane.
First I bought the Shock Force 1 big bundle on special for the price of a restaurant meal for two, and now you've basically sold me the Big Bundle upgrade for the price of a takeaway curry and Naan!
I don't know how you expect to make a living - but thank you though
