  1. If you noticed as well but Pete is at Ver 3.12 so i am going to guess it is the long awaited battle pack!
  2. I would like to see men from the same platoon able to join the crew from another gun or mortar. In a previous H2H match, had one AT gun crew have all but one member killed and another AT gun was destroyed with a couple of crew killed. Both AT guns were from the same platoon and the while mostly whole crew was willing to buddy aid the mostly dead crew and give ammo to the mostly dead crew, they would not help him operate his AT gun. I would also like to see vehicle crews operate able to use any similar type of vehicle. As an example the crew of 1st platoon Sherman tank #2 able to use 1st platoon Sherman tank #4.
  3. I just lost two of them in a recent battle. One to a rifle grenade and one to a direct hit from a two inch mortar.
  4. The pictures look amazing to me and I was hoping you were using a mod so I could ask which one. Perhaps it is only that most of the first panels did not have too many trees and the last ones have lots of trees. I look forward to seeing the next pages.
  5. Bud, another excellent comic. Have you added some mods from the start of this comic until now? It seems to me the pictures are sharper.
  6. If early war is your thing, CMFI is the only way to go. It starts in July 1943 and with the Gustav Line module takes it out to May of 1944. There is an upcoming module to take this game out to the end of the war and it will add a ton of new units and nationalities. Both CMBN and CMRT start in June 1944, so CMFI is the clear early war favourite. While there are no Panzer II's there is most definitely Panzer III's and IV's. As for multiplayer, I have had zero issues finding people to play right here on the forum. I will also extend an invitation to play you a match in any of the CMX2 titles you choose to purchase. Send me a pm once you have made your choice.
  7. I will make the recommendation to at least download the CMFI demo. I was not too interested in Italy either and yet it seems to be the most fun. The variety of equipment in CMFI + Gustav Line module is huge and with the Gothic Line module on its way soon, CMFI will be very interesting indeed.
  8. I can't wait for the CMFI additions. Thanks for the Christmas Bones and I hope BFC was able to enjoy at least a little time away with family.
  9. Hope you get well soon Phil. Maybe a little less Spam and more heirloom tomato on your sandwiches in the future.... Did Bil just let on that you are his opponent in the Bulge game BETA AAR????
  10. Which map were you using? Do you also know the battle criteria? Date/ Region/ Forces/ Battle Size?
  11. We farm some ground where the top and bottom of the hill is dry but it is the side hills where it is wet, The water seems to leak out the sides and if you are not careful it is very easy to get stuck in an otherwise dry field.
  12. markshot I made this file a while ago and believe I have shared it here before but will again. This is a terrain tile indicator "scenario" You need to put it into your scenario folder and load it up as the allies. It has a square block of each type of terrain in the game and a label for each terrain type. There are three different vehicles that you can drive around the map and see how each vehicle interacts with the terrain. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vo58wsuxxhbfpyg/Terrain Tile Type Test Damp.btt?dl=0 I hope this helps you to identify terrain in game.
  13. I am going to ask the dumb question, but what does ELO stand for?
  14. I thought that was the case, thanks for the answer. If this is not in the game and has no plans for the future to ever be included in the game, why is it still included in the manual? Perhaps the questions about it would go away if it were not stated as fact in the manual.
  15. In the latest version of the manual I have, ver 3.0, it says the points values of units is displayed in the editor for force balance purposes. I am not seeing this in the editor. Am I missing something? A hotkey turned off? Or is there a mistake in the manual?
  16. I will make you an offer I hope you can't refuse. Post exactly what kind of battle you are looking to play, the size of map and force selections you would to have to play with and if it matters to you as well what you would like to play against. I will then set up 10 battles quick battles and send you a link to a dropbox folder where you can find them. The battles will need to be loaded to the setup phase and then saved. I would save an American Infantry only vs Waffen SS Infantry only as follows: Am Inf vs SS Inf Large ME medium map night This should tell you that you will be playing as the Americans, in a large Meeting Engagement, on a medium map, at night vs Waffen SS infantry only. The weather will be set to random so you get whatever the computer chooses. Sound good??? The catch? You set up ten quick battles for me, I care not what the size, type or force selections are only that they be on elite setting and single player wego battles. The rest is up to you.....
  17. If I understand what you are looking for correctly, you would like to be able to load a scenario, read the briefing and then decide between some options for units? If I am correct you can do this and still be able to be "double blind" by opening up the editor and making the changes to one side only. I would encourage you to try this with a scenario you have already played and am certain you will find it is easy to make the changes you desire.
  18. As another option to what ASL Veteran has suggested would be to open the scenario in the editor, delete out the units you don't want for the side you wish to play, add in the units you want to have, resave as the scenario with a new name and enjoy! The editor really is a magnificent tool and I would encourage you to spend some time checking it out. I think you will find you can already do the things you suggest with the editor.
  19. Thanks for responding Steve. I hope it is a simple addition to the game. I was going to ask about dynamic weather as well but you have already answered that one! Matt
  20. I have to disagree that this is outside of the scope of a regular CM battle. In real life, on the farm, in my fields, I can go from working ground at 0900 to being parked in the yard by 1100. Is a two hour battle really outside the timelines of CM? A real life example: This fall we had a significant amount of rain and I was unable to work ground at my parents farm. We waited until late November when we finally had an evening with temperatures dropping to -6C overnight. In the morning I was able to start chisel ploughing at 0700 as the sun was coming up. By 0900 the temperature had risen to +2C and the sun was shining brightly. The top of the ground was starting to get slick but still held the tractor up without issue. By 0930 the tractor was beginning to leave a small track and the wheels were wet. By 1000, mud was starting to stick to the tires but the tractor was still able to drive without leaving too big of ruts. By 1030, the back window was covered in mud, the tractor was struggling to pull the chisel plow and at times I had to lift it completely out of the ground to keep moving. After the third time of lifting the plough out of the ground to be able to keep driving, I called it quits for the day. So even if we take the entire timeline into account, it is 4 hours or the maximum amount of time available for a CM battle. At the start of the battle the risk of bogging would be quite low but as the battle rages on the risk would rise rather rapidly. Now I know there are not many 4 hour battles but a battle fought anywhere in this timeframe will see the ground conditions changing and there will be an impact on how vehicles are able to travel.
  21. Currently in game we have changing ground conditions based on rain, ie a damp battle field will become wet after certain amount of time has passed if it is raining. I am wondering if the same will hold true for frost in the upcoming Bulge game. To be specific, will ground that is frozen and hard at 8 am gradually become soft and muddy at around 10 am as the sun warms up the ground? This is something we count on happening in the late fall and early spring. We farm some wet ground and just about every year we have a major rain storm in the fall and the ground becomes very wet and impossible to work or to harvest. So we wait for the days when we get a good hard freeze over night and then head out to those fields early in the morning and work there until late morning and the frost is coming out of the ground and the fields become impassable again. In the early spring, we use the early morning frost to help carry our equipment as we try and frost seed spring grains or to underseed clover into winter wheat. There is usually a couple of hours each morning where the ground can carry the heavy farm equipment without making too many tracks. As the sun warms up the ground we need to stop or risk making a mess. In the span of an hour, the ground conditions can go from leaving a light track to making deep ruts. Given that the Bulge title is supposed to cover the war from October through to the end of the war, this is a weather feature the battalion commanders on the ground would have encountered. I would expect to see many maps in the Bulge title loaded with muddy sections and areas of maps impassible to tanks. As much as I don't like having my tanks get bogged down, I expect to see it happen with far greater frequency in the Bulge game. The tactical challenges of facing thawing ground will certainly be interesting.
  22. In Quick battles, they can be found in the Motor Battalion, support company. In the scenario editor there is a machinegun battalion that can be chosen as well as the independent machinegun company. I know for the Canadians the Vickers were not in every battalion. There was one battalion per division equipped with three companies of Vickers machine guns and one company of 4.2 inch mortars. These companies would be assigned to support on battalion or another as the Divisional commander saw fit. Otherwise the battalions operated without the support of the Vickers and would have instead relied upon the Bren gun. In First Canadian Division, the machinegun battalion was the Saskatoon Light Infantry, Second Division had the Toronto Scottish Regiment, Third the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa and the Fourth Canadian Armoured Division had the 10th Canadian Independent machinegun company, the New Brunswick Rangers.
  23. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/c6h9av8gykyru4n/AABbOn-tLEgqbX2godY7OE5pa?dl=0 Here is LukeFF's idea in practice. This is a link to a scenario with all the tile types as 4 action square boxes. There is a landmark over each terrain box to help you identify the tile type. I have also included a small forest with light forest cover and one with heavy forest cover. I also made a forest similar to those in game with brush tiles and tall grass, moving to bushes, brush and tall grass to light forest with trees and then heavy forest with trees. There is a tank, halftrack and jeep included so you can drive around and see how the terrain effects vehicle movement and lines of sight.
  24. Kieme(ITA) the part you are missing is RepsolCBR is trying to take out the building using infantry only. The game gives credit for damage caused by vehicles but gives no credit for damage caused by infantry.
