  1. If the ground conditions can already change based on the weather and light conditions also already change than maybe dynamic weather would not be too hard to implement. It would be great to see an increased set of options for setting the weather situation both in the editor and for QB's. As the saying goes, winter is coming, and it would be nice to see the weather conditions change in game to match the kind of wild weather that can happen on the Steppes.
  2. I was thinking about this today while we rushed to finish planting a field before the thunderstorms came. We finished the last few rows while the rains starting pouring down. We had a half inch of rain fall in 45 minutes. The ground conditions changed from dry but soft to damp/wet very quickly. 10 minutes into the rain fall the risk of having the tractor get stuck in the field would have been pretty good. I would think driving a heavy tank across ground like that would be a bad idea. In the game we already have changing light condition as the sun rises or sets. This has a huge impact on LOS/LOF as a battle progresses. I love this feature as it adds an extra level of realism to the game. If you have a company of infantry to move across open ground at dusk and two hours to perform the attack waiting even half an hour increases the odds of survivability substantially. The added challenge of changing weather and ground conditions would to the realism again. While having the correct colour of rifle butt or the proper shoulder patch on uniforms is nice, dynamic weather is far more important to me in making this game the most realistic combat simulation game ever.
  3. While working ground in preparation for planting I find myself looking at the lay of the land and thinking how would cross this field and assault those woods. I found several covered approaches from one end of the farm to the other in what looks like a flat field from the road.
  4. I came across this article in the local paper yesterday and thought you all might enjoy it. http://www.lfpress.com/2014/05/06/willem-ramakers-is-off-to-meet-the-king
  5. I was sent an email today by my brother in law asking what I wanted for Christmas. I don't know why because he never gets me anything on the list I send him. But it got me thinking about asking him for something from BFC. I remember seeing something about a coupon when I bought Market Garden and was wondering if BFC had any gift certificates available. With all the gaming goodies coming in the next year I would love to have a gift certificate to use on my next purchase. Is something like this available?
  6. I read the LOTR in grade 8 and loved it. I had a hard time putting down the books. The Hobbit I enjoyed just not as much. I was then given The Eye of The World, the first book of "The Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan. That series has occupied a huge portion of my free time for the last number of years and I would highly recommend it to anyone. As for reviews of the CM games, I read one. In 2000. By PC Gamer and downloaded the demo afterward. I have not needed to read another review of the games since. CMBO, CMBB, CMAK, CMBN/CW/MG, and CMFI/GL have all been purchased based on playing the demo of CMBO back in 2000.
  7. I will second the vote for being able to see the off board arty KIA/WIA stats.
  8. At what distances are most people losing their gunners?
  9. Thanks for the responses. I now know what I need to do for the scenario I am working on.
  10. Are the different types of infantry modeled or represented differently in the game? What I mean is if I have a veteran paratrooper with high motivation and a veteran infantryman with high motivation, will the paratrooper take more "abuse" before becoming pinned or broken? Also are there any differences for infantry between the nations? Say Canadians vs British vs Americans? Or between The SS and Heer?
  11. I too am having the same problem. I have made a copy of my 2.01 version and then ran the Mg installer on the original folder. I can play mg just fine but if I load up the old 2.01version than MG scenarios are greyed out in the updated version. It says 2.10 at the bottom. What did I do wrong?
  12. Why not make the info available as a hotkey on the basic training or veteran skill levels and unavailable at the higher skill levels. It could follow the same rules about the amount of intel you know about enemy forces when you select them. This way it would be available for those who want it and the others can happily play without it having a "gamey" effect on their battles.
  13. In the game details dialog have you tried to use the browse button to manually link up the dropbox folder with h2hh? For all my games I need to do this every time. I click on browse, search around until I find the drop box folder with the saved game in it, and then select ok. I then do the same for the outgoing file using the same dropbox folder. This would be lines two and three in the game details dialog screen. Hope this works for you.
  14. I hope they take digital download pre-orders this time.
  15. I am 33. Played risk and stratego as a kid a fair amount and once we got our first computer at home it has been pc games for me all the way. I loved the Monkey Island games, Full Throttle Sam and Max type games. Played a lot of FPS games as teen, Halflife the most. In my last issue of my subscription to PC Gamer magazine there was a demo for this game called CMBO with the Valley of Trouble and Chance Encounter scenarios. I was hooked. I own all the CMx1 games and everything WW2 for CMx2. I have never played another combat sim game that has been as fun or challenging as CM. Can't wait to see what BFC has in store for the future.
  16. I like the patrol move order a lot and can definitely see the uses in the game. I also love the idea of co-op multiplayer. I would like to see H2H campaigns as well. Or the ability to load the "review map" saved game in the editor.
  17. I stopped at the beer store on my way home from the hardware store today and 24 cans of Heineken was $58. This is in Southern Ontario in Canada. A pack of smokes $9.85. Almost the same as the cost to upgrade CMBN to 2.0. I would say $35 for MG is well worth the money. I think I would get more fun and enjoyment out of MG if ALL it had were windmills, paratroopers, and some bridges, than from a single case of beer.
  18. I am 33 and have zero problem with the price. I have played these games since 2000 and have never thought BFC was charging too much money. I have bought a lot of games over the last 13 years. Some I bought as soon as they were released and paid $50-$60 a game. Others I waited a few months until the price dropped and then pick the game up. Most of those games I played for a month or two and then lost interest. I still play CMBO, CMBB or CMAK at least once a month. These are the only games older than 5 years still on my hard drive today. I play CMBN and CMFI at least once a day every day since I bought the games and I have only scratched the surface of what the game has to offer. The PBEM play is limitless with this series. I will happily pay the $35 for MG as soon as it is available. The extra content is totally worth the money. I see no problem with how BFC has setup their pricing structure and hope they continue to make fantastic games for many years to come.
  19. I have been reading this thread with great interest and it has really helped encourage me to do some work on creating scenarios myself. It has been very educational and I would like to thank Jon for taking the time to do this. I have a question about the editor itself. When working on a larger map the editor seems to really slow down when I try to look at "the big picture" if you will. Does this happen to anyone else or is it an issue on my end? The three smaller picture views of the map all run nice and smooth but anytime I go to the two big picture views the editor seems to bog down to where there is a two or three second delay in following my mouse clicks. It is not really too big of a problem but when trying to setup objectives or setup zones it is nice to look at the big picture every once and a while. What map view level do you do most of your work on Jon? Do you experience this slow down as well on the bigger picture views? Thanks again for a great thread!
  20. I have to say this is the way I enjoy playing the game. To me the enjoyment comes from remembering this game is based on events that actually happened in real life. I get the chance to see if I would have been a decent commander or not. Sometimes I win big, some times I lose big. Either way it was fun. I don't think anyone would argue that on June 7, 1944 Erwin Rommel would have loved to "reload" back to June 5 because the Allies had "exploited a glitch" by dropping paratroopers all over the place and not attacking at Pas-de-Calais. If I lose half my troops in a single turn to a mistake, oh well, learn from it and move along. Maybe replay the mission in a few weeks time and try again. At least I am still alive to have the chance to try again.
  21. Just replied in the other thread that I am in.
  22. Count me in for CMBN and after Gustav line comes out for CMFI
