Nice video. I wish CM had better explosions (4:06). -
BM Oplot needs its ammo choice fixed
Ghost of Charlemagne replied to kraze's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
I have to partially agree with Sgt.Squarehead, it would have made a lot more sense if Battlefront had included T-72s and/or T-80s instead of the BM Oplot. And yes this also goes for the T-90MS. This is particularly true for the timeframe that the game takes place in. I suppose the inclusion of the BM Oplot and T-90MS was made for balance reasons, as the Abrams would be too OP otherwise - which I still think it is. -
mod HerrTom's explosions

I've been playing around with your Hi-Res explosions and smoke mod for quite a few hours. Here's my constructive criticism so far: 1. The new explosions are great! However, I think they could be improved by replacing the last of the explosion frames with a smoke&explosion "transition" frame (explosiona007), and maybe adding an additional one (replacing explosiona008). 2. The smoke looks pretty good from afar, but up close in looks cartoonish. Maybe the shape of the smoke could be changed to resemble vanilla smoke more? Also, the smoke is too opaque.- 73 replies

Combat Mission: Modding tools

That's great news. However, I'm afraid I have no modelling skills, so it'll be up to you guys to make something of this new capability. -

Combat Mission: Modding tools

Can you also improve models, by say adding Light Weapon Thermal Sights (LWTS) to US M4 models? -
Any chance we might see improvements/customizability (due to new graphics options or the ability of the game engine to take advantage of new hardware) in model and terrain draw distance in the next patch, Steve?

Russian / Ukrainian Breaching kits

Is there a thread for suggestions like this? I would like to suggest that we get M2 Bradleys without ERA. -
Any chance you might create some Russian soldier skins with the same darker green color, BTR?

Looking for a good German reskin

I can recommend Aris' German skins. It has "Kaki" helmets too. -
1. According to this website (http://www.military-today.com/tanks/bmpt_72.htm) they are dual feed. 2. T-14/T-15 are not vaporware, the T-14 is already in low-rate production with 100 to be built. As to the T-15, I think I read somewhere that it is having transmission problems, so its low-rate production has been delayed until 2019/2020. It is sad to watch the anti-Russian attitude that prevails these forums (it seems the lying liberal MSM is doing its job), all new vehicles are going to having problems - technical or economical - just look at the US' track-record in this regard.

Just saw this and thought you guys might be interested. So it seems (according to Southfront) that the Russian military might soon acquire an undisclosed number of BMPT-72s (configuration unknown), due to the T-15 series being delayed (reading between the lines) and a desire to test the concept (tank support vehicle) in practice. Maybe this justifies the inclusion of the BMPT-72 in the next add-on for CM:BS? It sure would be a cool addition and give new tactical opportunities for us players (the BMPs are tin cans, the BMPT-72 is not). What do you think?

When was the last time we got an update from BF? (the "road ahead" thread has been dead for a while) Anyone know what they are working on right now? -
So, the manual says that M1 Garand (w/ M7 Rifle Grenade Launcher) in supposed to be available in formations from March 1944 with equipment set to "excellent". Yet, in my scenario which takes place in May 1944 and with excellent equipment, I can't find a single M1 Garand (w/ M7 Rifle Grenade Launcher) in an entire infantry battalion?

Woman Soldiers in CMBS; Woman being drafted
Ghost of Charlemagne replied to cool breeze's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Women in ground combat roles is a bad idea IMO. Three main reasons being: 1. A US army report from Iraq and Afghanistan, which basically said that women are more likely to die from wounds a man would survive. 2. Physique also works against women in ground combat roles. In general, women are weaker and smaller than men, and so if a female soldier ever found herself in hand to hand combat with a male enemy soldier, she would be at a severe disadvantage - again in general, of course, there are exceptions (G.I. Jane, Ronda Rousey xD). Lesser physical strength also correlates to other things like a reduced ability to carry ammunition, equipment, supplies, wounded comrades etc. 3. Psychology/morale. I once read that experiments have been conducted which show that males have a much stronger psychological reaction to a fellow female soldier being killed or wounded than a male soldier. If this is true, then it is definitely worth considering. I'm not trying to say that women are unfit for ground combat roles but simply that if we want the most combat effective soldiers as possible they should be male. -
Best Computer for CM?
Ghost of Charlemagne replied to Armorgunner's topic in Combat Mission Black Sea
Yes! As high a clock speed at possible for CPU, and fast RAM (I think 8GB is enough for gaming, 16GB is ideal and 32GB is definitely overkill for gaming) (Alternatively, look into which CPUs are best at overclocking, but remember to get some hefty cooling for it.) And a Nvidia GPU with 3+GB of VRAM. (I upgraded from a GTX580 1.5GB to a GTX1060 6GB around Christmas and I experienced a noticeable increase in performance.) -
