JM Stuff reacted to Mord in Mord's Red Thunder Portraits Version III RELEASED!!!!
Well, it's done. I am not happy with a lot of the portraits as they were the first ones I designed after I changed the style over. BUT I absolutely could not bring myself to redesign everyone of them at this time. I did however redo all the Russians. They are OK for the moment. At some point I may return to the mod and fix everything I dislike. So, here ya go, 2649 portraits!
I'll provide a Mediafire link until Bootie gets them uploaded onto the site. After that I'll get Elvis to edit the link into this post.
    Have fun!
What the frig is up with the forum? It won't post my pics anymore. EDITED: figured it out. Gotta do it differently now (PIA).

Started a briefing for one of the CMFI Kreta 1941 mini-mod scenarios coming out in late May. Today is April 26th! 80th Anniversary of Operation Hannibal is today! Whadya know!
CMFI KRETA 1941 MINI-MOD SCENARIO "SILK DROP"
    ^
Operation Hannibal. It is 0735 on Saturday, April 26, 1941. The sun is just rising and it is still slightly cool. From the sidewindows of your Ju-52, the weather is clear with a light wind from the sea to the southeast. You are Oberleutnant Paul Brand, in command of your company of German Fallschirmjager. Your mission is to start in just a moment as you and your men parachute down into the Greek countryside near the town of Kavos. A few kilometers away at the Corinth Canal Bridge, other Fallschirmjagers have landed by gliders just 10 minutes earlier. Secure Kavos and the southern approach to the Corinth Canal Bridge. Block all attempts by the enemy to interfere with our main force at the bridge.
    ^
Your Fallschirmjager Kompanie contains a high proportion of veterans of the 1939 Polish campaign and the 1940 assault at Fort Eben-Emael. You are at full strength but you are on your own. You have no fire support: no mortars, no artillery, no Stukas.
    ^
The British units covering this area of Greece are believed to be Australian or New Zealand troops. Infantry units with limited support. No enemy armor is expected.
    ^
The British are here by trucks and might have some heavy weapons at their disposal. Kavos is not expected to be garrisoned by more than a platoon.
    ^
You have around 30-40 minutes to complete your mission. The enemy has a marked exit zone that represents them getting through to the bridge. You have a variety of hidden touch objectives. You have ONE large RED set up zone. Preserve your force, locate and neutralize any enemy encountered. Set up blocking positions as appropriate. Don't let a single Tommy get through to the bridge!

    Hi Mark
I will try to answer your question legibly !
You can understand the composition of a helmet like a real helmet, there is
    1 the helmet
    2 the under helmet
    3 the chin strap and
    4 the net
replace these examples in the blender elements by

1 the material shape of the helmet that you can model
2 the interior cone more or less at eye level which defines the dimension that the soldier will wear with the helmet on his head
3 the famous schinstrap that you can work too
4 camouflage which is the texture you add to give your object the final appearance
Warning ... if you work on the cone and change the height or the surface by mistake you end up with a helmet that is too low too high or if the helmet is too small you can see the soldier's head through so you have to be careful.
If you model a new shape of helmet I advise you to split the cone and the helmet, because the cone does not have to be resized, for a normal helmet, on the other hand for a beanie or a flexible hat, you can rework it to give the appearance of "sticking to the ears" and only then work on the shape of your helmet, or even your flexible hat.
Now come the camouflage, you can create more material on the helmet, see my first photo, and model the new material or add 3d models of existing foliage, but the addition of the material will not be independent of the helmet, because to save your model in mdr it will be necessary to integrate it into your basic 3d model, or the helmet itself.
This is the problem with helmets if you want to add an appearance to them with 3d foliage ... any other with the camouflaging of the vehicles or there it is possible to put a texture or to add independent material and to save it in mdr why? mystery !.
The textured image that you will add on the helmet (for example a flower) will take the form of the color of the material and the color of your helmet and not the color of the foliage that you want to put on it.
I don't know if all was understandable but I don't know of another way to explain.
Aquila speaks about the helmet in his speech with the but I cannot find it again I will check in details.
    Voili voila !
