CMA needs a game engine 4 upgrade to make it viable, IMHO. I’ll continue to dream on, only now with a little bit of hope!

“...time sucking variable” was once my answer to my lovely wife when asked why I hadn’t gotten to my chores for the day. “Sorry dear,” says I, “but playing Combat Mission is a time sucking variable.” I was then informed that the Doghouse is also a time sucking variable.

There's another rooster in my henhouse -- a Sherman.
It's not looking good for my HQ Hetzer, but friendly infantry up ahead are in a position to help out. They chuck a number of smoke grenades toward the enemy that increase the tank destroyer's chance of escape.
Eat fog, rooster!
It works and the HQ crew manage to back their vehicle to safety.
Meanwhile, the last fully-functional Hetzer leads a combined arms advance on the other side of the woods to try and open up an avenue for a flanking attack on the rooster gang.

I think the rehabilitation of Stalin and Marxist/Leninism has been as fascinating as it is depressing. On social media, Nazis are apparently everywhere and communism is fashionable again. I think it is the politicization of schools and colleges, and a culture of not reading anything.
I'm a bit of a fan of TIK on YouTube, and he frequently battles revisionism on both sides of the narrative.

Is it possible to get a variation in the headgear of the wehrmacht/ss as well? Or perhaps modded? You often see fieldcaps sprinkled in with the stahlhelms. Especially in this timeframe.

If you're playing WEGO, save every turn. Never know when you'll want to show us, or just re-watch later. I have hundreds of complete saved games on an external drive just for that purpose!

Just a final follow up on this. I most definitely suffer from the dreaded CRS disease that tragically strikes so many of us old coots. I connected my external drive to my Surface and was able to track down the deal with these uniform mods. The first batch was done in 2011 or '12 for the original CMBN and then around 2013 or '14 I did versions for the US units in Italy. In December of 2015, I redid everything and uploaded a set of uniforms for each theater, ETO and MTO. Those are the ones on CMMODS now (page 4, as Wart's noted above). Mystery solved!

That top group is named correctly. The bottom group are the old ones. We’re they in the same mod file? If so, I screwed up.

Umlaut, what happens if you drop the footpath another level? My ‘puter fried last week so I can’t check it out myself, but interesting things happen when you use roads and footpaths at different depths when making trenches.

If you go to the Mod Warehouse's CMBN Infantry section, they are on Page 4 near the bottom.

Top, those are the ones I did while I was modding the, at the time, brand new CMFI. I don’t know if they have been transferred to the new Mod Depot, and I can’t get to my files on the external HD until tomorrow . When I do, I can send them by Dropbox.

Did you play solo? I ask because that’s a head to head scenario and I don’t think those have AI plans.
Happy New Year to you too!

"Honey, would you mind making some more eggnog while I load up the Daraya Tank Raid AAR? Don't worry, that's the better one from CMSF2, the one with that awesome, nearly impossible RPG hit on a T-72AV. You know, the one that didn't have a TURMS-T fire control system. I'll explain that system to everyone while the first turn is loading."

mjkerner reacted to puje in Qarmat Ali 1 PWRR Basra Iraq 05 August 2004
@Combatintman I know this is ancient by now, but I just found this map a week ago and got very excited. I did because back in late 2006- early 2007 this place was my hood. I was deployed with the Danish Army back then, and this place (Al Harta) was the southern tip of my company's AO.
I just thought it would be fun to do a little review (everybody's a reviewer these days, right?) of your map and compare it to some actual images.
I've marked a few spots on the overview where the following images were taken.
Qarmat Ali bridge. There are some clear limits in the CM editor, so I get why you made a land bridge. But the real thing was very large and frankly daunting. Like in your scenario, we also had a lot of trouble with it. We had one man KIA a hundred meters south of it (if just applying North to the top of the map), and 2 WIA just when they reached the northen side, at another time. Also single shots fired at us.
The Tate factory, as we called it. We took breaks in there a few times. When I was there the werehouses were just open with tin roofs. Not sure all the holes were damage from fighting, or just decay. There were some families with cute kids living in there. One thing you missed, was that one of the buildings was actually a water tower. For some reason my PL found it a great idea to put a guard up in it. It was the worst position ever. It took 5 minutes to crawl up there. I could not imagine a more ****ty position to be in if you got shot at. Luckily we never did while up there.
This is just a shot from a little street we called Happy Street- The image is take a few hundred meters up the road west. One day we got shot at up this street. after searching the area we found a KPV 14.5 HMG in a garden. It wasn't the weapon that fired at us, but at least we got that one off the street. Pulling out we had a firefight again.
But yeah Al Harta, Iraq was a pretty ****ty place. I rate it 2/10.
Your map I'll give 7/10 for realism

@Sgt.Squarehead, I mentioned this to you, thought perhaps you'd want to see it.

mjkerner got a reaction from General Jack Ripper in What's the best WWII raid operation?
I agree that excitement/action with a favorable outcome is probably the most common determining factor in most wargamers' minds. I know it is in mine! And yeah, what constitutes a raid, anyway?
Regardless, I'm going with St. Nazaire. But Pearl Harbor comes to mind, if it can be classified as a raid. Successful in the short turn only, though.

Lol, I thought Barking (mad) was 3 stops short of Dagenham? Maybe Bedlam is 4 stops short? Either way, yes, I guess I did.
