dkchapuis reacted to Thewood1 in FIX THE BOGGING ALREADY!
In RL, in Steel Beasts, and in CM, inexperienced drivers should bog at higher rates that veteran drivers. I used to drive skidders, tractors, and bulldozers in the woods of Maine. I guy driving a skidder a few years compared to me with a month of experience is a world of difference in speed and knowledge of where not to drive a skidder.

dkchapuis reacted to Grey_Fox in Tanks are blind in CM
It is completely broken. Just look at this they get within 50 meters of each other in broad daylight and be doesn't even see it. It's laughable that anybody would consider this to be realistic behaviour.
Completely unplayable, I want a refund.

dkchapuis got a reaction from Saurion in Annual look at the year to come - 2023
What about the old CM2 request for importing maps and units from a finished battle into a new one? That was a favorite CM1 feature of my gaming group. Any plans to bring that back soon?

@BFCElvis Thanks very much ! Though to fair, I just recorded the footage, someone else cut it down to size and stitched it back together for the trailer.
@dkchapuis Here you go, this is the start of the CM chunk of the live event: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1923663906?t=00h48m50s

dkchapuis got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in Beginner tutorials
I agree that learning CMx1 will not be much help. Besides, CMx2 is such a better game. I LOVED LOVED CMx1 games, but I will never play it again.

IMO, this is not a great general tactic for CM.
If I was only going to give one beginner tip I would say dont move friendly infantry against an OPFOR that is not suppressed and is within 100m. If you do, you are going to have a really bad time.

dkchapuis reacted to Brille in Quantum tunnelling?
Well CM sometimes have some odd "geographic occurances". I once had it to that even a tank clipped though a building while traversing the landscape.
Or one time at the scenario Riva Ridge in CMFI : I was about to clear a trench with my germans. I took on the Brazilians in close quarter and got them pretty good but one of them refused to die.
And that was not in a heroic kind of way by any means. He just couldn't die because my troops couldn't hit him while he was cowering. My men fired for more than 2 turns at ranges under 8m so there was hardly any luck involved on his part.
I guess his hit box sunk into the ground a bit so the game could not register a "hit".
The germans had to push on and leave him for a bit. He backstabed 2 of my soldiers as he recovered but as he was upright now, the other germans killed him for good this time. 😅

dkchapuis got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in Key Terrain and Avenues of Attack
I do identify key terrain first, then determine what I have to do to get to that KT and then hold the KT. Often holding the KT does NOT mean sitting a lot of units on it, because artillery, etc.
Covered avenues of approach or avenues out of LOS are essential. Usually the overwatch for the units approaching are along different LOS lanes than the maneuver units.

dkchapuis reacted to Ithikial_AU in New Years Bones 2023 - CMBN BP2 Utah Beach
Yes. You'll need to jump into the editor and adjust the files before fighting a follow on battle based on whatever house rules you and your opponent determine is appropriate. A number of club campaigns have come up with different systems in the past. All this is offering is a starting point to save the historical leg work and run around to kick start a campaign between two people who want to play out Utah Beach "their way" rather than via scenarios trying to replicate history.
It's not one giant Axis .btt file but split up in the editor by regiment. So one for the 3/919 IR (the unlucky German sods stuck along the coastline), 1058 IR, the 6 FJR and 17 SS SSPzG Regt. Nothing stopping you from importing one other file into another, saving it and them importing it again into another to merge them all up if you wish. But be careful as issues may crop up in the editor with a force size that big. Talking easily 5,000+ soldiers in one file.

Ah, you’re missing out Centurian. Multiplayer is where it’s at. Well worth the time. In my humble, but correct, opinion.

dkchapuis reacted to Artkin in Vehicle Jumping (Phase-movement) Bug?
It has to be the same thing, the vineyard tiles are exclusive to CMFI and apparently so is this teleportation issue.

dkchapuis reacted to Field Oggy in Vehicle Jumping (Phase-movement) Bug?
At least your Sherman didn't teleport into the Vineyard and become immobilised. Which is what happened to me on the three occasions I have witnessed this bug.

True...
But one thing that Battlefront could do is to improve the map editor...or the entire scenario editor for that matter.
That is something the community can't do...
