You have to capture the Chateau and the manor house as simple as that. (as stated in the briefing in the objectives list)
Those two objectives should be named right on the map. If not just press "ALT+J" to switch objectives on.

You´ll notice that the color on these points is different than the other ground tiles. In this specific scenario it really is just the manorhouse and all the chateau buildings.
Only units that are in these objective zones will be considered, even mentally unstable ones (shaken, panicked, pinned). If you have the area completely surrounded but no unit IN the depicted area, you won´t get any points for that.
Though you must clear them out completely of enemy troops. Otherwise they will be counted as "contested" and no one gets any points for them.

Edit: You don´t have to occupy or take any other points of the villages. Though probably you will clear one or the other as a byproduct of your journey to the "real" objectives...

Brille got a reaction from Bannon in Open or Closed Hatch, That Is The Question
It depends on the situation. If I expect enemy units only from the front, I leave the hatches closed and the commander inside IF the tank has thermals.
But if the possibility arises that he also could come from the side or from the back, I would consider taking a look outside.
If I move my tanks as a solid platoon I usually let at least one commander take a look to rise situational awareness. Just be sure the proximity to enemy infantry is not lower than 300m (preferably even more). Otherwise the commander is gone really fast.
With soviet/russian tanks/ tanks without thermals I usually let them take a peek but button up as soon as I feel danger around (artillery, snipers ...). Keeping a look out outside shortens the spotting time immensly but you run with the risk to also shorten the ammount of crew members, which is already rather low.
A side note: If you have electronic warfare switched on it is even essential to let your commanders outside, as the radio connections break down regularly. This way you can keep somewhat of a working command structure.

While I can understand peoples frustration and I do think communication could be better. I do not think mud slinging by either side does any good at all.
Everyone needs to take a step backwards, after all this is just a game we are talking about. If you feel angry, frustrated, bitter, or whatever, then maybe its time to take a break, play a different game, spend more time with family and friends, or something similar.
Whatever you choose to do, there is absolutely no point in coming on here and complaining. There is no proof that it makes a blind bit of difference to release schedules or projects.

I've been playing CM games since CM1, I have all CM2 titles and packs, I will continue to buy whatever is offered, whenever it is offered.
I still have not had time to play every campaign, scenario or battle, so there is still plenty to do. Plus there are also people continuing to make great campaigns such as George MC, Dragonwyn, Paper Tiger, and Frank is soon to deliver a paid for campaign for RT.

If I get fed up with some of titles due to bugs, AI or boredom, then I go and play something else, or go to the gym, have a walk.
Life is to short and precious to get hang up on a computer game, surely

That's very interesting, because according to the manual, it states that, and I quote " The AT-13 has increased maximum range, thermal sights, better accuracy, and a significantly more lethal tandem HEAT warhead, while retaining light weight and mobility." (Emphasis mine)

However, after running some tests with a BMP-1 in Shock Force 2, which I'm pretty sure has non-thermal blocking smoke, the AT-13 lost the spot and was not able to reacquire it through the smoke.

So you seem to be correct, the AT-13 doesn't seem to have proper thermals in CMSF2, and the manual is wrong. I've just been taking the manual's word for it that the Shock force 2 version of the AT-13 has thermals, as Black Sea manual's entry on the AT-13 has no mention of thermals and testing does appear to confirm that it lacks thermals in Black Sea. Therefore, CMSF2's manual is wrong and the listing should more closely resemble the one in Black Sea with no mention of thermals.

Unless it's a bug and it's supposed to be thermal sights but it's just not working properly of course.

    Thanks for pointing this out!

So, support the allies in 1944 but also the axis? But I forgot, we can never use WW2 as an example anymore. A war where we supposedly did defeat the enemy and tried to eradicate the philosophy of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. The wars since then have all been lost or partially won. Call me stupid all you want but I HAVE picked 1 side in this case. You equate it to supporting mass killings of civilians. I don't. Israel can answer in the ICJ. maybe you have already rendered a verdict. Also, should our own soldiers not support only one side, our own side? In a future conflict.
@The_Capt I met a wonderful Canadian couple about 20 years ago. She was a teacher in Saskatoon. Unprompted she somehow brought up the (new?) direction of the curriculum of her elementary school. Government directed curriculum. "First Nations". Maybe I am all wrong but it seems to be about instilling in white people from as early an age as possible some type of guilt for the past.
I know you were Canadian Forces active duty in Afghanistan.  I don't know for sure but maybe now you are a civilian employee academic type professor/instructor of the Canadian Forces in some type of war college or armed forces type university? Did that require you to go to a civilian school to get a degree? I had started an online degree, a masters in social work, I was disgusted by the intro course to diversity and all the same trappings of white guilt/blame it tries to instill/teach/indoctrinate.
A comment was made about "North American voters". Now I suspect you meant white voters. Or maybe it was a general comment about the current low level of intelligence/intellect/IQ in people. Low Information voters is the term maybe? If the mantra to whites is to feel guilty and ashamed of the past to understand how non-whites feel...then the same low information/intellect/IQ people of non-white voters just pick-up the corollary. "I am not responsible for my feelings. It is someone else's fault based on the past. I am owed something. I can't be held responsible for my actions. I am oppressed." I have seen a press conference by native American groups openly praising the 7 October attack by Hamas with aspirations of how this might help them get "their" land back. Another video I saw showed an African American watching a pro-Palestine protest and he was asked what he thought. He said he felt a kinship to them as he was also living in occupied land.
I am here today as the first day of the future. white, yellow, black, brown, red, whatever. Move forward to achieve prosperity and security. Don't have an agenda of restorative justice or whatever for the past. The US Armed Forces has gone more woke than ever. Meritocracy is apparently out the window. Both the US Armed Forces and many airlines now have a goal to get more non-white pilots. Them being non-white is the number one aspect of the application process. Will it help us win a war? We used to be told to be color blind. Now they instruct us to see the color of the other guys skin and make certain changes in how we treat them.
I thought this was a good thread and some folks here were very smart. I could learn. I still feel the same way but I also see now that the current pathology of wokeness and "identity politics" is very widespread.
The image in my signature is just a modern take on an old flag used in the early 1800's.

There is a work around though. Give your tank a "target light" command in the position you want suppressed.
Then set a pause time you see fit (lets say 30 seconds) and set another waypoint slightly near or under your unit with a "face" command.
The face command will negate any target or cover arc order, so you simply just have a "target briefly" with only it's MG.
Also a slight workaround but sometimes a bit unreliable: Instead of placing the breach order through the wall or the hedge, place it alongside.
This way the soldiers will blast a tile in front of them and then retreat alongside the hedge where they are in Cover/concealment again.
If there are more wall or hedge lines or other obstacles (e.g.houses) in between one tile, it can happen that something else will be blown up instead of the desired Wall/hedge. So it is a bit tricky Sometimes.

It may be an oversight or just mislabeled, I dont know.
Could be as well stated as like "with mortar" or "Standard mech infantry". The "anti tank"description makes no sense, indeed.

    Adds to the wishlist:
    - adjustable/alternative firing times for pre planned artillery.
5/10/15min are not that flexible. In fact as the oponent I know exactly when I need my forces to hunker down and when not.
Plus some maps are very big or you want to move more cautiously. 15min maximum here is just to short sometimes.
So either you should be able to adjust the minutes yourself or have at least a wider variety. Maybe it could even be possible to synchronize with the ingame clock.
So for example that you can Type in the exact daytime as it is. "I want that artillery firing at 12:35 on that hill !")

    - different/ more tac ai behavior especially concerning tanks.
I often witness that tanks duell things out even when they are heavily outclassed or in a bad situation.(Side to the enemy)
So user input is often required to make them retreat.
So for example If a Sherman (short 75mm Canon) encounters a (King)Tiger up front at medium to long range, He should more often than not have the tendency to drive the hell out of there and /or smoke. Especially when Said Tank is already aiming and firing at him.
As it is now usually the tac ai often evades other Tanks when damage is already done (partial Penetration, wounded crewmember).
A better Crew morale would add to this.
Often times crews seem to be unimpressed from non penetrating hits.
And Im Not saying that they should always abandon their vehicle. But it should at least have more of an impact in their ability to fight back.
I remember in CMBB you could knock on a T34 with multiple Panzer III at a time. You rarely would penetrate him but the constant plinging of shells often drove the Crew inside crazy, forcing them to retreat or even abandon their tank.
Another thing would be the other way around: In the old games crews would get more nervous when they repeatedly hit a tank without penetrating him. Untrained crews even could get shaken uppon that to a degree that they would steer their tank out of the way.
Also to this: Cover arcs should be Not as absolute as they are now. In the older games it was dependant on the experience and current morale of the unit if they hold on to it.
So it could be possible that Units would negate the arc entirely if they feel threatened.
So in general what I am trying to say is that units should be more acting in self preservation than they do now.

Pixeltruppen not in action should ideally reload/top up their weapons after a while of inactivity, e.g. reload the coaxial MG in tanks and the such.
AFVs part of core units in campaigns should redistribute ammunition between themselves between missions where they haven't been resupplied, instead of having e.g. Stryker A proceed with 100% ammunition to the next mission whilst Stryker B proceeds to it with just its remaining 2-3% ammunition. On the same note, AFVs with a weapons system destroyed and not repaired in time for the following mission should offload as much of its remaining ammunition to other AFVs in the unit, instead of Stryker C moving on with 100% ammunition for a destroyed .50 cal whilst Stryker D proceeds to the same mission with 0 .50 cal ammunition remaining.
AFV crewmen of open topped vehicles, or vehicles where the crew needs to unbutton to reload (e.g. Strykers) really, really should have some kind of option/command to delay the reloading process until the player instructs them to do otherwise. It really is unreasonable to have crewmen fanatically/suicidally expose themselves even to intense fire from nearby enemies when their weapon is out of ammunition.

The first and the last suggestions could probably be solved by adding a "Reload belt/weapon" and disabling/providing an "off toggle" for automatic reloading of exposed weapons on AFVs. Additionally, crewmen reloading such weapons should ideally be subjected being forced to button up in response to enemy fire, just as turned out crewmen/passengers in general already are.

The silliest thing about POWs in CMx2 is that they still give away enemy positions while they raise their hands.
So they still work as some sort of scout unit that cannot be targeted directly.

Because of this I dont have hard feelings when some stray bullet hits one of the surrendering troops as they still take part in the engagement and can still be seen as combatants.

Well I have a bad take on those  heavy kitties but thats about my own luck I suppose.
Usually when my opponents field them they are those invincible and frightening killing machines, hard to knock down.
When I field them they are like "whoopsie seems like I lost my tracks on that 10m journey."
    or
"You know usually I would totally bounce that shot...but not this time, sorry." 😅
I still remember my first experience with the Tiger in CMAK. First enemy contact with a Vallentine( 57mm gun). Two shots of his, one partial penetration aaaand the gun of the Tiger was gone.
Thats why I usually go with Panthers, Panzer IV and other stuff.

I had the same instance recently with my germans in CMRT. Two of my soldiers were raising there hands and the soviets were standing so close that they could have given them a high five.
But one of my fireteams that was like 30m away kept them from totally giving into the soviets. Just as that fire team crawled further away and was out of sight, those 2 fellows finally started their long march to siberia.
So you need to clear the surroundings first to really get them. And always keeping an eye on those prisoners in spe...these bastards tend to pick up their weapons again if you keep them unchecked.
