  1. It's priceless when you can get that to happen in this one, isn't it? Nicely done sir! Just had a burglar escape from three squad cars full of plod and both AK armed detectives.....Sneaky little blighter!
  2. Is that a Japanese SPG in the right-centre foreground of the last picture?
  3. They were lucky they were driving the export version.....That would probably have hit naked turret behind the Shtora emitter on a T-90 or T-90A. When I saw the first image I assumed it was one of your T-72AVs from the battle with @IICptMillerII, then I noticed the K-5 on the turret.....But now I know it's a T-90SA it makes a lot more sense.
  4. It's a bank job! Great to see the old thing getting a proper thrashing.....Now the map's done I need to update it all to my current standards and get on with some more instalments.
  5. I've checked a few different battalions and no issues are visible.
  6. What sort of thing should we look for? I'm not seeing anything obvious at first glance.
  7. I believe this scenario was modelled as a 'Late Cold War' concept, hence my comments about the slightly awkward choices for Soviet/Russian tanks. TURMS-T is a western designed roof mounted panoramic thermal sight, so naturally it confers many advantages (not matched until the most recent T-72B3M/T-90A in many ways).....But as I said above it's also strictly a Syrian thing, so it has no place in a Cold War scenario: http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product1305.html I've taken up enough space here already, so I shall say no more that I am genuinely looking forward to the next instalment.....I've played the CM:SF1 scenarios from both sides, so I know that both sides can win this one (against the AI at least). Based on the turns depicted above, Red's prospects seem to be deteriorating rapidly, but don't rule him out completely just yet.
  8. Please don't interpret my comments about the technology as a reflection on the tactics.....They should be taken at face value (if you haven't figured it out, I'm a bit of a Trackhead). Had the Red player had access to roof mounted panoramic thermal sights and more modern APFSDS rounds his attack might have gone better, but that does not mean it would have ended very much differently considering the wider picture.
  9. A lot better I suspect, but those are a uniquely Syrian hybrid.....TBH CM:SF1 & 2 are slightly awkward for modelling Soviet/Russian forces, the more so now the 'T-72M1V (2001)' is gone. The T-72AV is hardly a contemporary of the M1A1HC.....A T-72B1 (m.1985), T-72B1 (m.1989) or T-72BA would be more suitable (TBH a T-90 wouldn't be unreasonable). The first has a better armoured turret than a T-72AV, but has the same reactive armour.** The second has better reactive armour too (this one could just about be modelled with the now vanished 'T-72M1V (2001)', although again its turret armour is too weak for a T-72B)** The third has all of the above and better optics, but still nowhere near as good as a TURMS-T.** ** I haven't looked at the ammunition for each type but I strongly suspect it was improved between the mid eighties and the late nineties. PS - A T-80U would be the best of all.....Damn I love those things!
  10. Almost all of them. There are two kits in a lot of those boxes.....I generally buy a platoons worth of each type for WWII stuff, but just a single example of each type for modern stuff (those are stored elsewhere). I can't actually do any modelling right now, so I'm mostly gathering materiels (kits, aftermarket parts, paints, decals etc.) & researching subjects for when I have a bit more space (three workstations rather than just one) and much, much better lighting!
  11. Here's the main thread dealing with AFV protection from artillery: Taken from that thread.....Direct 152mm or 203mm hit on a T-64BV: As this was done by a single round, a precision guided munition is a very likely candidate.....They seem a bit more effective in real life, don't they.
  12. Nice find JK.....Intrigued to know what his 15m low wind kite is, I don't recognise it at all. It's unusual to see a kitesurfer using a foil-kite, they normally use leading-edge inflatables (he used one for his record).....If he's happy with a foil, I'm kind of surprised he's not using a Flysurfer Speed 21m Silver Arrow: These things are the king of low-wind kiting and will power you to the max in pretty much any breeze that you can feel on your skin.....I wouldn't feel safe to hold one down, period! PS - The shots where he's flying in tandem with a 15m Speed 3 Deluxe are just awesome!
  13. Dude.....Look at all those craters! If those were from 203mm guns that tank should be upside down and half buried, large parts of it should be stoved in as if hit with a massive hammer.....Because they just were! I'm really starting to think so.
  14. Sorry I'd assumed they were shot down by APS based on the comment from @Chibot Mk IX.....I've not studied APS to know whether it is overpowered and that's not a claim that I'm making. Without watching the footage of your gunship attacks I couldn't even hazard a guess as to why they were not effective.....In my experience Hinds are one of the stronger cards in Red's hands. My issue is, like yours, with the really quite remarkable (to put it politely) resilience of the Abrams & Bradley to artillery generally & Red PGMs in particular.....It rather begs the question; if those weapons can't actually kill their primary targets, why would Russia deploy them?
  15. Wow! Lucky they were only T-72AVs.....Something with decent sights could have seriously ruined your day, right there! Do you know what tank strength you are facing? You seem to have destroyed a couple of companies worth now.
  16. There's been a lot of discussion about the poor effects of Russian PGMs in particular and artillery in general on AFVs, notably Abrams & Bradley.....A significant number of us agree entirely with the points you raise. That tank should be as dead as a dodo. Not after he's been pounded with heavy artillery he doesn't: Trophy's protective shields wouldn't stop those fragments, the radar would be junk, the APS would OOS. Not to mention the concussion effects on the crew, assuming the tank weren't actually blown to bits.....Which it would be. Yes, but don't waste your time.....Typically you'll immobilise it at best and strangely although all the sensors are often displayed as being trashed they never seem to be blinded or even significantly degraded in real terms. I've used nine 122mm precision munitions on a Bradley and it survived, still mobile and apparently fully functional, or sufficiently so for it to then defeat a T-90A (that knew exactly where it was) in a head on engagement immediately thereafter. Utterly ridiculous.
  17. I don't need virtual ones JK.....Not with this lot sat just behind me:
  18. Feel free to PM me if you have any difficulties (I don't think for a minute you will have any, assuming the vehicle can actually carry the gun).
  19. Definitely worth the effort.....I particularly like the inset zoomed images.
  20. I was researching (& to some extent still am) 'The Hairspray Technique'.....If you don't already know, it's probably better not to ask!
  21. You can avoid the early surrender by adding reinforcements set to arrive at a time after the battle has ended.....If you do this you will need to account for it in parameters and so on. PM me if you are unsure what I'm on about.
  22. Just starting the third scenario, thoroughly enjoying myself.....Total casualties suffered to date amount to one man lightly wounded by a mortar fragment. I have a feeling that won't last. Having lots of fun experimenting with different team-splits & HMMWV load outs....Two man scout teams make excellent crews when the threat level is low, but I'll switch to using four man sections once the serious shooting starts.
  23. A Russian software writer just got properly stitched up for buying F-16 manuals on eBay: https://www.businessinsider.com/the-us-says-a-russian-man-tried-to-smuggle-f-16-manuals-into-russia-2019-5?r=US&IR=T
