  1. If you want to post the file to DB or similar I'd be happy to take a look. Probably a silly question, but you have left in the AI scripts for the correct side? You have no idea how many times I've stared in dismay at non-moving AI units, only to realize I'd been writing the Red AI in Blue's slots (or vice-versa)!
  2. @IanL Going to bump this. I've just started the campaign again.....Obviously these issues are still there and they really could do with some attention. If you need screenies or saves of particular issues, I'll try to oblige.....In the first couple of scenarios it's mostly a case of the TOE not matching the briefings.
  3. This. However.....What is 'easy' & what is 'difficult'? IMHO, this is where creative & thoughtful scenario design is critical.....It's OK for a scenario to be a blood bath (even in a campaign), if the objectives are set such that the player can win despite his losses (& in a campaign, the script shouldn't expect that unit to do anything in the next battle without full resupply).
  4. @RockinHarry will be happy to see someone else commenting on this. I recently noticed my BAR Teams were happy to engage wooden bunkers side on, TBH it didn't have much visible effect in the game I was playing, and I put a bazooka round through the back door shortly thereafter, so I'm attributing the subsequent abandonment to that! FWIW
  5. AI plan 1 is not a plan for AI Group 1 alone, it would typically contain orders for several AI Groups. Did you cut the map down before removing the AI Plans/Orders? Is it possible that the units are attempting to reach painted zones that were present on the full map but which have been trimmed out of your reduced version? In my experience the game seems to 'remember' all the various zones of the full map, so I always remove all the AI & Objective related stuff before cutting the map down. FWIW
  6. OK, just one more 'final image': This single GI gave me such a nightmare that I nicknamed him 'Sgt.Rock'.....His deadly accurate carbine fire displaced several of my sections and he then single-handedly fought off two counterattacks! I had to pin him down with LMG & sniper fire from a nearby hill and then surround him before he finally succumbed! What a fight!
  7. Could it even be a usable unit.....Maybe they reused the mechanics underlying the Taxi from CM:SF?
  8. Just one more.....It neatly sums the vicious, point-blank, nature of this fight: That's gonna hurt!
  9. Down to the last 40 minutes of 'A February Thaw'.....It has been an epic battle! My earlier assessment that I was taking control proved sadly mistaken! We were forced to defend against several surprisingly well planned attacks.....We've beaten them off but we are in no shape to counterattack now. We're just holding on to what we have and waiting for the clock to tick down. In some areas the carnage has been indescribable: I'd post more images, but I don't want to spoil the scenario for anyone else, it's still too new IMHO.
  10. No worries fella, I'm now fifteen minutes into the fight, and as @Ultradave says, it's a really good scrap.....I'm now beginning to take control, but I'm playing the AI. Against a human this one would be tooth & nail!
  11. Couple of screenshots from possibly the most 'Conventional CM Scenario' in the pack ('A February Thaw'), it's a conventional meeting engagement on a balanced map, but it looks awesome: The lead platoons of 1st Co. Gebirgsjager Regiment 576 advance swiftly into the freezing forest: Meanwhile their attached mortar platoon deploys to a minor railway siding:
  12. Sorry dude, I haven't tried playing the bad-guys yet! But I have no reason to believe they would be any less well written than the Allied scenarios.....I'll start one of the Axis scenarios now and make you some screenshots.
  13. @Aragorn2002 I thought it would be the units that appealed to me most, but thus far it's been the scenarios.....All the scenarios I've tried so far have been really good, the maps are nice, the conditions are 'different', the units are novel.....It's CM:FI, but not like you've played it before. FWIW
  14. This is a very good summary IMHO. This is an issue for all the beam-riding missiles in the game. Don't expect too much 'reality' from the units, the game was speculative when it was written and history has not followed that path (fortunately). However it is a lot of fun.....I'm playing the 'Shield of Kiev' campaign for the second time right now, all BTR-4s & BM Oplots.....You'd love it!
  15. How touchingly American! Respect to the lot of you.....Your insights are invaluable.
  16. This an excellent thing that you have done sir.....Many thanks! PS - Just looking at it in the editor.....Really well done!
  17. It surely feels like it at times, but it's actually all painted zones, timing and simple scripts. To make those scripts feel this convincing is no mean feat IMHO.....Kudos to the scenario designers.
  18. Hand-me-down ex-Turkish Leopards are turning up in some very unsavory hands: http://gurkhan.blogspot.com/2019/12/blog-post_4.html
  19. Gur Khan has details of the current cutting-edge of Ukrainian tank technology: The T-80BV (with a funky new thermal sight): The world trembles at their awesomeness! http://gurkhan.blogspot.com/2019/12/blog-post_75.html
  20. Really challenging.....The terrain is properly tricky and timing your moves is very important. In my first attempt things went very wrong on this front and my units were cut down piecemeal fashion.....I'll do better next time.
  21. You can kind of do that now, it just involves some trickery with the campaign script and a very complex core file.....Ironically, if you wanted to try writing a campaign in this format, good old CM:A offers the widest timescale of all the games (this was more or less what I was doing with 'Abdul Gul's War', before I got sidetracked to the orient, I'd just revamped the core file to increase the potential scope of the campaign).
  22. I've found that with most of the R2V scenarios I've tried so far.....'One Final Effort' with the Indians was much harder than I expected, I got pasted! By the AI!
