  1. .30-06 machine gun ammo was shipped in 250-round cans ready to be fired. In fact, I have such a can that was designed for the M1917 - it has the indentation of a bullet on the lid, so the crew knew which way it was to be attached to the tripod.
  2. OK John... You know, some of us have seen this sort of stuff for real and don't need to be reminded of it again.
  3. Already posted elsewhere and already acknowledged.
  4. LOL wut? It's a screenshot thread. If you don't want to look at a thread devoted to screenshots, don't click on the link.
  5. There were a whole heck of a lot of Germans in the East that were fully fed up with communism by the 80s, and I think it's safe to say they weren't the "elite." Speaking of which, I've been doing a lot of reading over the last couple of days about East Germany and its economy, the border fortification with the BRD, etc. Man, it's little wonder the whole thing came crashing down.
  6. There's no such thing. It's just the way the camera is controlled, and it's explained in the 3.0 manual that comes with the upgrade.
  7. The Me 262 was designed to be a fighter-bomber long before Hitler decided to deploy them primarily at first in the ground attack role. It added maybe 2 weeks to the development process. So yes, while it was a mistake to deploy it in the jabo role, Hitler's insistence upon it being a jabo did not delay its entry into combat in any significant way.
  8. Totally uncalled for, and quite ironic that you tell him he shouldn't be taken seriously until he has an attitude change. The only person I'm seeing in this topic who needs an attitude adjustment certainly doesn't go by the handle of dsf.
  9. That's because the Soviet Air Force was in the process of modernization, and so the airfields were packed with older planes being phased out (I-16, I-153, etc.) and the more modern types (Yaks, LaGGs, etc.) meant to take the former's place.
  10. While it's not new, today I received my copy of Bagration to Berlin: The Final Air Battles in the East 1944-1945 by Christer Bergstrom. Like all of his other books (such as the Black Cross / Red Star books), this one is a very deep and well-researched study of the air war on the Eastern Front and ties what was happening in the sky with what was happening on the ground. http://www.amazon.com/Bagration-Berlin-Final-Battles-1944-1945/dp/1903223911/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1413678268&sr=1-3
  11. Highly variable (not every shot in those videos produces a flash), but otherwise yes, WWII-era weapons will produce a muzzle flash.
  12. Steve has said they are switching to the Unity engine at some point: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1498651&postcount=27
  13. I also pointed out to Chris that the rank insignia for several ranks (such as Major, Staff Sergeant, etc.) features the crown for Queen Elizabeth and not the one for George VI.
  14. Umm, no, this section is to discuss user-made mods and scenarios for the game. Considering that the CMFI forum doesn't have much traffic as it is, and Foiling Fustian comes straight from BF, it doesn't make any sense to tuck away this topic in a subforum. You don't see people talking about Road to Montebourg or Courage and Fortitude in the Mods & Scenarios section of CMBN, do you?
  15. ChrisND Also, why is this topic in the Mod section?
  16. Why, does this topic bother you? If people can discuss this in a mature manner (which I think just about everyone has done), then there's no harm done. That, and you can always just not click on threads like this if they bother you that much.
  17. No, it's just a hypothetical scenario. Based on the sort of replies from members I've seen over the years here, though, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see a reply like that. Otherwise, yes, I agree with you on how upgrading the stock missions to 3.0 would be problematic and make this more than a $10 upgrade. There's no easy solution to this, so far as I can see.
  18. It has nothing to do with feeling entitled to everything I want but rather just some criticisms I have with the way this upgrade was handled. About the scenarios: yes, yes, I know, and that's why I stated that at least some of the scenarios should be upgraded to take advantage of the 3.0 triggers. Think about it for a moment: someone new to the game (or who's coming back to the game after a hiatus) sees that 3.0 has added the ability for triggers. They load up a stock scenario and see that, lo and behold, those triggers are not in place. So, they ask here about what's going on, and the reply they would get would be along the lines of: "yes, that feature was added but no, it wasn't retrofitted to any of the stock missions, so you'll have to wait for the community to create missions that have triggers in them. Or, create a scenario yourself." That doesn't really look good.
  19. While Chris's Twitch channel is great (and I tune in as much as I can) not everyone has the time to watch the videos and/or sift through them to find out where Chris gives an update about a certain title. On that note, what would be nice is a quick post in the forum after said Twitch broadcasts stating what new info was revealed in that day's broadcast and where in the timeline of the day's broadcast the player can go to see video footage of the update (if applicable, and mainly thinking of CMBS here). Other software titles I follow certainly do that, and they certainly aren't what one would call big development houses, either.
