rocketman reacted to Audgisil in Juri's UI mod...
    Hello everyone,
A long time ago I took JuJus CMBN interface and made it for Fortress Itally by adding the missing mod files for vehicles, weapons, etc. Well, I just finished updating it again to include everything for Rome to Victory. Compressed, it's 7MB. I just posted it to onedrive.
Please feel free to distribute or host this file wherever. The majority of the credit all goes to JuJu. I just ported it to CMFI and updated it as needed.

Placed in a keyhole position when defending, they can do considerable damage to the first line of infantry that can't spot it in time. Then redeploy so not to draw that deadly fire.

Cool. I'm in a map making mood and I think it will be an interesting mix of mountain, urban and rural areas.
There is a good Youtube channel that has made a series of videos of all major battles in the area. Here is a link to the first one:

For me, pretty much all the covers of the Airfix toy soldiers are embedded in my brain and when I see them again, now some 40 years later, it brings all those memories back again.

I was under the impression that Gurkha units wore different uniforms and was often used almost like a commando unit doing night scouting and assaults to cause disruption. And therefore had lighter automatic weapons and operated in smaller formations. Guess I was wrong
I suppose my childhood mental image of them was this:

I found some humour in that Gurka is Cucumber in Swedish and that's why they felt "special".

I saw this a while ago and reacted to that scene in the same way as you did. Remembered reading about similar cease fires in Arnhem. Seemed so absurd that first you try to kill each other, then stop for a humane meeting of fellow beings in a rather friendly way, and then go right back to trying to kill each other again. Both sad and absurd.

The maker of the scenario should be proud - this is one fine map. First scenario I'm giving a go with from R2V due to being away from home for a while. But loading up this scenario made me smile and think the lads probably did a really good job with this module. Now onwards to be trounced by my PBEM oppo.

BTW If you're looking for Red Army maps:
http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/images/splash.htm?scope=images/VAC9619 (you can activate a "interactive view" to zoom in, but there doesn't seem to be an option to download...) --> index map available here: https://iu.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=098c42997ca441029b69f0597ff92ea6 - here you can also download the maps in high resolution

Just to be on the safe side, check spam folder which might contain email with download link. Otherwise file a ticket with help desk who will help you out.

I'll be working on one after I get to the SF2 British uniforms I didn't finish last Spring. There are a lot more option with skins and whatnot with the release of R2V.
Edit: Loaded my old one form years ago into R2V and it works!  But this is a mod to the British uniforms.  Need to do it with the French.

The file name for what I assume is the updated campaign is "Troina v2" and file dates can change over time for other reasons (depending on where you found them). Anywho, here is the link for anyone who want it and @Swant : https://www.dropbox.com/s/cztr2dzf2fyf2kv/Troina v2.cam?dl=0

There is only one download for all content (for each game) and then you unlock the modules you have with the appropriate keys.

WWII was literally the most catastrophic man-made event in human history. If you include Japan and China in the mix some 80 million people died (out of a world population not much larger than 2.3 billion) in the space of a few short years. The scale of atrocities is unimaginable. By war's end even the 'good guys' were incinerating entire city populations. Looking back on his actions in the Pacific General Curtis Lemay commented "I suppose if I had lost the war, I would have been tried as a war criminal." WWII is a template for nobody for how nations should act.

Here is a direct link to the publication on Soviet topographical matters. I see contour lines there, mainly at the top. If there is a larger map, look at that as well, as there will be additional hints as to the underlying heights. As that appears to be vaguely around Leningrad, there should be a few period maps about.

The only thing I think I know is that the numbers with decimal points, like the 133.5 along the bottom edge are point elevations in meters. How to interpolate the spaces between I don't know.
I've used this key on occasion to help me make sense of things, but not sure it's much use here.

I love maps, so will follow along and see where the thread leads and hopefully learn something. Good luck.

Isn't also the sun's position in the sky and where it rises/sets also modelled? It is cool that the moon shows the accurate phase in night battles. So it begs the question if out pixeltruppen fights worse on a full moon night 🌚
