    Introduction
Being a CAF soldier myself, it bothered me very much to see the vest used by the soldiers was not period correct (1982 pattern load bearing vest) and to me did not look the way I wanted my pixeltruppen to look.
I started from scratch my vest mod and this time I made a chest rig worn over the fragmentation vest. I decided this based on a photo I found from infanteers in Afghanistan (2008-2010) wearing chest rigs (see picture library). I have made and tested several versions and I finally completed the one I think looks best. I am not the best texture editor but I have spent several hours working on this project. I will give it to you soon, but first care for some history about the Canadian tactical vest?

    History:
The CAF is known for using a two system armor carrier including a fragmentation vest and a separate load bearing vest.  However, the troops in Afghanistan did not like the 90s era issued vest very much. The problem is, it isn't nearly modular enough as it had fixed pouches, no MOLLE and simply can't haul enough gear required in the field without major jerry-rigging. Take the mags for example, the average combat load during the Afghan war was 10-12 mags per soldier and the vest can carry only four. On top of that, they are placed very high up on the chest, fully enclosed and hard to reach. The theory was that having the mags on the chest would protect soldiers which were hit in the lungs/heart area. The bullet would first have to pass through a steel mag and it’s ammo, essentially turning your reloads into somewhat of an armor. Except, we aren't in the 90s anymore, and we now have real purpose made armor plates.
It was a great idea at the time, but that time passed a long time ago.
Some units, especially infantry units, allowed their members to wear their own kit because they acknowledged that the issued vest did not meet real life war fighting requirements. Some bought commercially available chest rigs and some used older Canadian issue pattern 82 webbing.
Nearly 20 years later, the tactical vest is still issued today to the disappointment of soldiers across Canada. However, in the late 2010s when going in deployment in some areas (Iraq, Mali) soldiers were issued SORD SCS Chest rigs that had to be given back upon return. Some tests were conducted with various LBV's and chest rigs but there is no replacement in sight at the moment...
    Now back to this mod!

    Features:
-All pouches reworked with magazines showing from the side of pouches.
-Medical pouch with red cross and buckle
-Two front utility pouches with buckles.
-Uniform with IR Canada flag, IR identification patch and an ISAF patch.
-Made in great detail, the skin has contour shadowing as well as a custom mapping file.
-Worn and dusty look for all infantry weapons except for sniper rifles and AT launchers

This mod works great with @37mm's Afghanistan timeframe and I hope he might add mine into his.
    Notes:
    - This is a combination of my 2 previous projects packed in one mod for the sake of simplicity and upgradability.
    - I have made the pictures into an IMGUR library so if I add content onto this mod, I will be able to add more photos to the album. Same principle applies for the download, it is in a Google Drive folder.
    - The way the CAF soldier is made, the vest is not it's seperate entity and is included in the uniform skin along with it's pouches. Since the pouches are fixed by default, there is no way for me (Please let me know if there is!) to add pouch modularity to the vest even if the game files shows lots of pouches with canadian classnames. That's just the way it is I guess. This game is so realistic, even the lack of modularity of the vest is represented in-game LOL.

oh, the dreaded file name is too long error.
You can maybe test that as being the issue by taking the roof bmp and just slapping it higher up the chain so to speak.
@37mm You do good work buddy. Thank you.

Looking at the independent buildings folder, that I bulk moved into CMFI, it does appear unnecessarily complex with many unneeded sub folders.
I'd consider either simplifying it yourself or deleting the problematic roof texture entirely.
Either way, the AiO update will be ready soon. The folders have been redesigned & I can't seem to recreate the issue so, presumably, whatever it was has been fixed.

I've been trying to recreate it in CMRT but have so far failed to do so.

Funnily enough I did spot this issue in CMFI a few months back (as, for the Pacific war Early alpha, I just bulk moved all of Kiemes independent buildings into CMFI)... but didn't give the roof issue much thought then.

    I'm a bit stumped.
Possiblly it's a folder organization issue which I've since inadvertently fixed... sometimes (very rarely) I find that if mods have been placed in too many sub folders they start failing to load.

Thanks!  Your "All in One" modpacks are entirely essential for me now and I use them on every title.
This roof has been bothering me though.

37mm reacted to Jace11 in Some Snow-Covered Flavor Objects for Christmas
A selection of snow-covered flavor objects for CM:FB.
Includes: Petrol Pump, Post Box, Barrels, Water Pumps, Wood Piles, Tires, Some Sacks (from Santa!), Fuel Drums.
I was able to duplicate models for barrels and drums, but use a different texture if they are sideways or upright.  This way they look nice with snow added, but it means I had to include the non-snow versions of these too otherwise it all gets messed up.
They may work OK in other titles too but I haven't tested them there.
    Download link: Mediafire
Might also have a dig around in my folders and scrape together a few other bits and bobs I've made for the other CM titles.

It really depends what type of mods you're talking about?
CMBS (thanks, mostly, to Kieme) can be almost entirely modded (Vehicles, Infantry, buildings, UI, sounds, effects, weapons etc).
CMBN is, by far, the most complete WW2 game for weathered vehicle texture mods (all praise Aris).
CMSF2 is, by far, the most complete for different theatres & even eras (Afghanistan & SE Asia are heavily supported with many campaigns & scenarios).
CMFI is, probably, the most verstalie for creating mods (check out North Africa or Crete for examples).
CMRT, with F&R, is relatively new but may, in the end, even surpass CMFI for flexibility (as @kohlenklau is apply proving).
CMCW, undoubtedly, has a lot of modding potential... especially after future modules introduce things like snow & Infantry armed with with semi-auto, battle rifles (insurgents would be even better... but seems unlikely).

Maybe already stated or already understood by all...
I just want to say that using CMFI as the host title for this mod and using CMFI Italians as the host for the IJA is EXCELLENT choice from the point of view of a lot of variety in their opponents (US, British, Commonwealth, French, etc.) AND internally with the "mds-mdr-game code" dynamics, by tweaking appearance and unit type as you purchase the Japanese force in a scenario you can have a pleasant variety of headgear and uniforms (normal Italians, Bersaglieri "featherheads" and the blackshirts gives 3 uniform options and 2 helmet sets).  THEN as a cherry on top of this dessert somebody has gotta do Aleutians in cold weather gear in the snow...  I am busy in a different snowy area at the moment.
Good luck guys. Always awesome tinkerings going on. BFC should be bloody ashamed.

Because this is an Alpha version, I propose you @37mm that you are waiting to let me working on a little more, to added for exemple the off nco helmets (caps) that I am working  now on, and  perhaps also added the us helmets with chinstraps mix that I did this will give a real aspect to the us troops the chinstraps mix are not perfect, but I have a good wish to include it.

I am also working to added some “Kamikaze”, using the feather helmet files, helping with the exelent and helpful mod from @MOS:96B2P (with his consent), that will added the possibility that japanish are wearing helmet or not, all is in the tube and in my head, perhaps not realizable with perfection, but personly I  have also the wish and the mood to introduce it (but perhaps all will stay only in my mind).

I can only say like I said in many time already, to see the advancing project and realization on this time of the Pacific theater from @LongLeftFlank that I keep a good remind, and take my hat off, of his gigantest job from years ago, taking in the lupe from our friend @Aquila-SmartWargames and realized with open arms, and details by another friend @37mm, that personly I admire the job,for his Heaven and Earth.
Personly I am very happy that this remake see the sun again, I found this already rich of idea and capabilities, and hope very much to see more enthusiasm and support about it, If BFC dont seam to be interrested to it, but also perhaps see some interested peoples to make some news maps and scenarios, we can also include for exemple, some realized job from @aquila (again him...)with his little boat availble on his titnatest mod that he let us very kind a welcome copy.
I think this mod could be useful to another model for another period very awaiting, that are the Korea war,  but I dont have enough knowledge to realized it in details, I can only support it with a little job left or right like I do it now for this period of bloody war, (just knock on the open door).
I know I write always (tooooo) much but let me added a last thing...
My text will perhaps stay in darkness on the forum, but for the one s that are interested to see more about it, I would recommand to have minimum ten secunds to thinking about all efforts from all modders on the forum and the one s that stay always in darkness, but are also doing something for this community, to have a short thought about them,  to the time that they are using their time to propose to everybodys a moment to change something to let you a smile, and enjoy it, this will appease, and let a smile to themself, the long hours that they have dedicated to realised the things that you have now in your hands.
    PS
I hope that my text will be understanding enough, for everybodys including the bad use of the time in my sentences and the errors in my english text, but believe me... nobody is perfect but  "en francais ca veut dire exactement la meme chose".

I'm not sure... probably would mostly work. Although the Japanese would have Italian soft factors which would be your biggest immersion loss. Also I only modded standard Italian infantry so far, I did nothing with the Blackshirts or feather hat guys.
