Please let's not turn this thread into another Suvorov discussion either. We've had those before.

Tac Nukes are absolutely moot when discussing a prospective CM Fulda Gap or Reforger, or Gruner Laubfrosch etc. The game would be about the units that are fighting around or through the hot zones. The SOP's were solidly in place for fighting in an NBCW environment as the mentality was nukes were definitely going to be used. The emphasis was on how to adapt and mitigate the loss from nukes in order to carry on with the conventional fight.
Units within brigades were spread out from each other. Always moving. Even defensive units were to relocate in their entirety after a short period of time (German roads were extremely hazardous when Corps exercises were going on). If the balloon went up these units would have operated this way for the real thing. Sealed in tanks, or dug in the ground Top High mode would have kept units with adequate distance peripheral to ground zero combat effective. It would have been rare to see many entire battalions wiped out from low yield tac nukes because of this.  Once contact was made the threat of a tac nuke would be gone for the time being and that is where CM would take place. Direction finding a Div HQ and nuking it wouldn't be all that successful either as these units were sending signals remotely by linked radio vans miles away. Also radio silence and dispatch riders were still heavy relied on even in the 80's.
Yes they were too optimistic with their mobile decontam centers and many soldiers would likely perish shortly after the war.  But I really don't want to go there.  We have Combat Mission Black Sea which featured nuclear super-power adversaries. I don't see nuclear weapons as a deterrent for the original topic here.

As I recall, Steve once said Battlefront was not interested in doing a game on something that never happened. Now some of you will say CMSF never happened, but at the time it was developed the setting was still in the future , so CMSF has been, as they say, "Grandfathered in" as an exception now. Black Seas is also still a future setting. Any way I just wanted to enquire if Battlefront's position on NATO vs Warsaw Pact has not changed and is likely to never be in the cards. There is still a lot to do for the existing families and completing the Ost Front after all which is a desire for Battlefront.

And can I call for a bit of restraint in posting your favorite setting wish in this thread please?

You could try Audacity. It's free: https://www.audacityteam.org/
It will allow you to record, edit, convert and export any audio to the correct wav format used by the CM series. The background wav file can be stereo, it will still play.
Right clicking an audio file in windows, selecting Properties and Details used to show sample rate, bits and mono/stereo for a file IIRC, but Windows 7/8 etc now just gives a bit rate, eg 44.1Khz x 16 bit x 2 (stereo) channels shows as 1411kbps

The user community. I have more content than I could possibly play so there’s always another scenario or campaign awaiting.  (Even though I mostly play QBs)
And many of these volunteer efforts are magnificent.
Hat tip to anyone who takes the time to make content. It’s the best part of these games.  The people.  Even the whiners. 😎.

Sequoia reacted to Euri in AAA - Demo feedback - Re balancing needed
I believe this deserves a separate topic:
I played the Alamo scenario and it seems that AAA fire is just as effective as in Black Sea, which in my opinion is very wrong. ZSU-23-4 Shilkas are very effective in shooting down air planes in the game. There supposed however to be a difference between CMSF and BS. In the first case the airspace is dominated by Blue while in the latter it is contested and the air assets are forced to operate at low level making then more vulnerable. In the first case fixed wing aircraft should be practically untouchable by AA or AAA fire or, at least, being hits should be a very low probability. Before any operation of ground forces in the broader theater of operations, SEAD missions with warm missiles should have neutralized the air Syrian radar air defenses and no Syrian aircraft should be on the sky in intercept missions. If any of us has played Falcon BMS simulator he would understand what an easy job is for jets to deal with ground forces when the airspace is uncontested and they are not facing long range AA missile threats. AAA guns and portable SAMs are rarely a threat.
To make things worse, there are no drones which would allow taking out Shilkas with precision artillery (and correctly so as we are supposed to be in 2008)
I believe this presents an issues that the developers should seriously reconsider re-balancing.

Syrian Infantry dismount under accurate German rifle fire.  Apparently MILAN-3 has quite the minimum range that I had forgotten about!
(Side note - CM:SF2 foliage is opaque! Looks a lot better, I think)

I just love that Battlefront has been around for 18 years (since release of CMBO, I know they were around before developing it)  and continues to produce the Combat Mission line when they could have done other things, probably for more money. I have never been in combat but nothing else comes close to providing the, to me, realistic immersion that Combat Mission has.   Perhaps the dogfight sims would but I don't play those. I prefer time to think, which may be unrealistic I suppose. The shooters certainly do not provide the realism to me.

Here's my experiment to see if SF2 will replace the Dutch C7A1 (M16) model with the CM:Afghanistan FN.
It works! The weapon comes into the game as 5.56. Turkey might not actually field the old FN anymore but the model's close enough to the HK33E now in Turkish service for it to work if I retexture it. The texture in the pict is straight CM:Afghanistan.

To me, the reaction to the video so far is the best example since the time Battlefront posted the screenshot of a Tiger tank before CMBN as to why we don't get more updates.

All of CMSF2 is one big MikeyD mod.  Almost everything's been touched in the game and 7/8ths of it nobody had actually asked me to do. They'd just come in to work in the morning to find a Carl Gustav rccl gun skin uploaded or new telephone pole art. I'm surprised nobody yelled at me.
