  1. I was scared to upgrade as often it ends up taking half a day of frustration to sort out the resulting mess. But, this time upgrading all the titles only took a few minutes. Wonderful! Looking forward to upgrading CM2 on my other 2 machines when I get back. Thanks BF. PS: On "Our Account" page on the BF site, wouldn't it be more useful to list the name of the purchased item rather than the date? Looking for the code for a particular product takes time when you have to check every item.
  2. Why were these Swedish tanks phased out? Presumably they had a flaw that made them unsuccessful?
  3. Might be more useful to post this on CMBS forums.
  4. "You will likely make far more than you spent on them in the first place!" Inshallah...
  5. It's bizarre (to me at least) that someone would prefer a cardboard game over a 3D computer sim with AI. I still shudder recalling the large % of cardboard game playing taken up by rules lawyering. (And it's a shame as I have over a thousand immaculate cardboard games sitting around in a garage waiting for an EMP to end life as we know it - mostly unplayed - esp since CM started in 1999.)
  6. Good idea. Even more: Ask where and how the paratrooper got the scar on his face. Then we can use our creativity to do a backstory.
  7. very bizarre. but good ad for CM and CM does get an end credit.
  8. Ah yes. CM2 has a lot of randomness - but at least we know that this can work.
  9. Don't think I have seen a CM2 map with a 4Kmx4Km map. Well done! Looking forward to it as I enjoy mobility and moving reserves around large maps. Most maps are so small that the scenarios are nearly all assaults with restricted flanks.
  10. Since this is math (programming) rather than nature with its larger random elements, if it happened once in the game then the programming allows for it and it is a law.
  11. Yup, George. I think I have every CMSF mod ever made. Takes a long time to load the game now. But, takes so long to manage the mods for other CM2 titles, no time to play.
  12. "I just wish you could you the administration commands from inside the vehicle, its too much of a pain to either cross load squads in the beginning to make it easier (but less flexible) later..." +1 Would speed things up a lot. Also, a new ACQUIRE process that allows inf units to swap ammo between them without mounting a vehicle.
  13. I agree with most of your points. But, re Custer: a) The Indians VASTLY outnumbered Custer's split force. b) IIRC Custer's men were not veterans of ACW, but consisted of many conscripts who were additionally exhausted probably due to Custer pushing them too hard to be first in battle so he could get the "glory" vs competing General (Crook?). Maybe this could be called a strategic error rather than tactics. FWIW: "On the morning of this day in 1876, Custer’s scouts told him that a gigantic Indian village lay nearby in the valley of the Little Big Horn River. Custer dismissed the scouts’ claim that the village was extraordinarily large-certainly many thousands of Indians-as exaggerated. Indeed, his main fear was that the Indians would scatter before he could attack. Rather than wait for reinforcements, Custer decided to move forward immediately and stage an unusual mid-day attack. As the 7th Cavalry entered the valley, Custer divided the regiment of about 600 men into four battalions, keeping a force of 215 under his own command."
  14. Always nice to see Brits. (I think I use a short sleeve mod.) Good AAR - easy to understand - thanks.
  15. It's the classic military industry sales pitch: Spend beaucoup $ on very expensive technology but skimp on spending money on human resources. Not as profitable as getting contracts to maintain, repair and replace major weapons systems.
  16. Mike: I have had units killed by enemy shooting" impossible" shots from far away thru dense woods. When computers play they can see 1 pixel gaps that we humans cannot. PS: I have been called "aggressive", but have been working on my "passive" side to be more of a complete person. Thank you...
  17. It could be that there is a crack in the wall plaster as is normal with farmhouses and small sheds that is hard to see and that the gunner can see thru via his telescopic sight.
  18. In my almost 20 years of playing the various CM games, "cutting corners" re LOS close to buildings is a pretty common experience. The fact is that the LOS system has "eccentricities". The problem is that some people think that this game system is "perfect" and that any weirdness can be explained as sort of deliberate design decision to make things more "realistic". Imo it's a wonderful game system, but making perfect sim of reality is probably impossible even for multi-zillion $ DoD sims, let alone a small independent product like this. CM2 doesn't have perfect WYSIWYG. It's a game. Nothing to worry about imo.
  19. I downloaded from the link above but found that the Last Defense v4 scenario in my folder was still later more recent. The one above was 1/6/17. the one I already had in my folder is dated 1/7/17. Want to double check that the link above is indeed the most recent version.
  20. Thank you. Invaluable. I had some of the same files with same or later date. But, the strings file in the d/l is the most recent.
  21. Now that's interesting. Didn't know the difference. Is that the same for all CM2 titles? Thanks...!
  22. Thank you... It's so nice to play a "mature game system" like CMSF where one doesn't have to constantly update.
  23. I am surprised we haven't had large RC model aircraft used like cruise missiles for larger payload. http://sploid.gizmodo.com/these-awesome-rc-airplanes-are-so-huge-that-you-can-fly-1644851216
  24. Yes Jorge. I would love to have those as well.
